Bab 28: 28. Game

Waking up I made my way to the washroom to clean my face to get rid of the drowsiness. After getting refreshed, I then made my way down. Coming down I saw all the three of them sitting in the hall watching the television. I saw that the match was about to start, So I slowly made my way to the couch and sat beside Sora.

Shirogana-san's team which was the Sitama Crushers was playing against the Osaka warriors and it was a semifinal match. So the game started and the Warriors were first to bat. I could see Shirogana-san who was sitting in the catcher's position giving out directions to the pitcher. Following his directions the pitcher pitched accordingly and they swiftly 3 strikeouts accordingly.

The sides changed and it was the Crushers chance to bat now. But it didn't go any better as they also got out rather quickly with one of them hitting the ball sight to the shortstop. The sides changed again and it went the same but this time the cleanup hitter could hit a double off the pitcher. But it didn't help as the following three people all got out not allowing the clean up to move further.

The Crushers came back up and it was their clean up who was first to bat and Shirogana-san was waiting by the deck circle. He was able to drive the ball along the first baseline to a single. It was then Shirogana-san's turn to bat. He left the first two pitches and fouled a couple. He swung the bat long and the ball flew towards the right side. The fielder was unable to catch it as he didn't make it in time. The cleanup was able to come back home at this time and Shirogana-san was at third.

But the attack stopped after his hit, the rest were struck out. The game continued with both the team pitchers pitching without a mistake and the Crushers were in the lead with one run until the seventh inning. In the seventh inning, the Cleanup batter for the Warriors was able to hit a single home run bringing the game to a tie. The mishap between Shirogana-san and the pitcher was the cause that the game tied. The game then continued to be a tie and in the last inning the Crushers were up to bat with one run to win.

The third-hole was first to bat and he was able to hit a single of the first ball towards the gap between the second and third baseman. The clean up was rather efficient as he hit a double just over the center and brought the person to the third. It was then Shirogana-san turn to bat and as the first ball came he swung the bat long.

The ball fell right in front of the center and all three of them started to run. The center picked up the ball and threw the ball directly to the catcher. The runner slid to the home plate as the catcher caught the ball and turned around to tag him out. There was a lot of dust that got picked up covering the camera. The dust settled and the umpire told, "SAFE ''. Then the whole stadium was silent, including the commentators. Then suddenly at once the whole stadium started to cheer and shout loud.

The whole team from the dugout came running toward the three in the field and congratulated them. All the players shook the hand of the opposite team to show sportsmanship. The match was ended and the post-credits started. The interviews started between the winning and losing team captain. Shirogana-san was also interviewed as he brought in the two runs and was also given the MVP of the match. He was asked various questions and he answered them.

After the interview Narumi-san then stood up and went to cook dinner with Meiko's help so I didn't go with them and sat with Sora on the couch.

Sora then said without turning, "The match was a close one wasn't it Rei." I just nodded my head.

He continued, " I also want to play in the big leagues in the future too."

"Good luck then Sora." and he in return nodded.

I continued as he didn't respond, "Is Oji-san not going to come home Sora."

"He will but it will probably be late in the night as they will have some things to do" I just nodded and continued to watch the tv.

After a while Narumi-san called us to eat and we both went to eat together with them. We all then ate our food peacefully and after eating I helped Narumi-san clean up and wash the plate. I then went to the hall and saw some tv with the siblings as there is still time before I sleep. I continued to watch for some time and then Narumi-san said, "Ok kids go to sleep it's getting late."

We all wished a good night to Narumi-san who was going to wait till Shirogana-san would come back home. We all went upstairs and then said goodnight to each other. I entered my room and then plopped down on the bed and slept immediately.
