Bab 9: Chapter 9- Sabo's decision
Dragon walked to where the members of the revolutionary army were working and called them to watch the spar. a couple of minutes passed as everyone gathered around while I got ready, Dragon tried to hide it but it was obvious that he was excited to spar with his son.
"ready! set! GO!" Ivankov yelled in a loud voice as I got ready to charge at Dragon. I knew he didn't know of my fruit's abilities, or that I even ate a devil fruit, so I decided to surprise him with my special moves.
I began to compress my legs into themself to make me able to dash forward as blinding speeds. As I released the tension that was holding my spring-legs, I shot myself forward while covering my right arm with armament haki.
Dragon was surprised by my speed and quality of haki, but he wasn't an elite for nothing as he didn't even need to use his own haki, and caught my fist with his bare hand.
I tried to kick his head with my leg but again he caught it while still holding my haki-covered arm. I immediately made my next move, however, and kicked his chest with my other leg to push myself back to crate a makeshift slingshot as I shot myself at his now unguarded head.
Dragon looked like he was quite surprised as he started to rise his leg as to block me but not to ruin my move, as would happen if he let go of my limbs. He was clearly trying to test me and I would not want to disappoint, so while he raised his leg I blasted him with conquerors haki.
Dragon was caught off-guard by my sudden haki attack, most likely because he didn't know I had conquerors haki after all it is extremely rare, so I managed to hit him with my kick right in the nose. But now he had his guard up as he didn't know what I had up my sleeves, first, it was a devil fruit power, then armament haki, and then conquerors haki.
Let me spare you the details and say that after that I couldn't touch him, I tried for a couple of minutes but in the end, once he had his guard up I was absolutely nothing. 'this is a little depressing' I thought after the spar ended, 'I knew that I was still weak compared to all of the elites, but I guess experiencing the gap first hand is harder than just thinking about it'.
I decided to check on Sabo and when I saw that he started to act crazily I called Dragon and we went to Sabo. When we arrived at the noble area of the city we tracked down Sabo, which wasn't that difficult to do as we saw him running desperately through the city to try and warn the people in the gray terminal right before he was stopped by the guards.
I should probably mention that Dragon and the revolutionary army were already prepared to rescue potential recruits from the fire and were waiting for orders. When I saw Sabo's desperation grow to a satisfactory level I toled Dragon to go and bump into him when Dragon asked him what was wrong he cried and made his speech about the scum of the nobles.
This had a great effect on Dragon because it's one thing to listen to something a person says, even if he is your son, but it's an entirely different matter when you see it for yourself, and Dragon was greatly moved by Sabo's words.
When Dragon came back to where I was he expressed his interest in recruiting Sabo as I hoped, now all that's left is to convince Sabo. For that, I need to make sure Sabo sees the revolutionary army in action and decides to join them, so Dragon toled his men to begin the operation as the fire was already beginning to rage in the gray terminal while I want to Sabo.
When I finally found Sabo he was crying and about to pass out, I quickly called out to him "SABO!" and that woke him up. "Luffy the royals are responsible for the fire you've got to belive me, I am so ashamed of being a noble that I can't express it in words. All the nobility does is it takes away my freedom while lumping me in with this group of trash that enjoy making people suffer an-".
"Sabo I already have someone rescuing the people of the gray terminal, and don't worry Ace, Dadan and the rest aren't in the area" I cut him off because it really hurt hearing my brother talk like that, and I wanted to help him but before it all he had to see the revolutionary army in action so he'd want to join them.
"Sabo I actually know a guy that can help you with that, and he is the same guy that is rescuing the people of the gray terminal so why don't you go see him in action and decide if you want his help?".
when Sabo heard my words he stopped crying. "Are you serious?" he asked, "yes, he is the leader of the revolutionary army and also my dad. since you want to truly help people and you already know how corrupt the noble system is, why not join them? plus you already met Dragon and he told me you made quite the first impression". "yea, yea I think I'd like that" Sabo said while I took him to see Dragon and his men rescue and recruit people from the gray terminal.
*the next morning*
I woke up as Sabo asked me to call Dragon, truth be told he totally freaked out once the situation calmed down and he realized that he met with Dragon the revolutionary and that said revolutionary is my dad. it was quite the fun night but now he looked very serious, he must have made his decision.
Sabo and Dragon went to another room to discuss thing and after about half an hour Sabo came out. "Luffy I have decided to join the revolutionary army. I remember what to said last night and you have really helped me realize what my meaning is. but how will I tell this to Ace?".
it appears that Sabo chose to join the revolutionary army as I hoped, "don't worry about it, he will understand. if you found out what you want to do who are we to stop you? when are you leaving?" I asked. "From what Dragon told me we will go immediately because of the celestial dragon that is about to come so I only have time to say goodby to you and Ace now," said Sabo while making a sad face. "Then let's go find him, I'm sure you two have a lot to discuss"
