Bab 14: Life on the line
When he heard those words, his heart clenched. For Jimin, it hurt a lot. Hearing those words, even if it was a joke still sent bullets to his precious heart.
He asked himself if it was a hint that she liked someone else. However, he couldn't answer that. For him to find out, he would have to ask her, and that's rude. He respected her.
So instead of asking her, he quickly covered it with a forced laugh that you couldn't identify if it was forced or not. That was how good he was at faking everything, saying 'I'm fine' but in reality, he's screaming 'save me'.
Minhyun came back with a tray filled with foods and he went again to carry another one. He filled their cups with water and made sure that they're all okay.
"thanks hyung"
"thanks Minhyun Oppa" they both said at the same time. When they realized it, they quickly called jinx and laughed.
"I should be the one to thank Minhyun Oppa first," she told him.
Jimin scoffed and said, "excuse me? I'm older than you. I should be the one to thank him first,"
Minhyun smiled and went away to his tent, taking another rest. He thought about Jimin and Leilein although he shouldn't thought about them but he can't as they're sweeter than any sweets. They bicker a lot and each time he witnessed it, he would smile at them.
He thought about his dreams last night, how Jungkook and Leilein said 'I do' to each other. Minhyun had tried his best to forget that dream of his. It was a silly dream, he thought. He knew that Jimin would likely have her. He deserved her. No one in their peer deserve Leilein but him and he was sure of that. He even asked the others for their opinion.
Minhyun then tossed and tossed to forget that. Meanwhile, Jungkook and the others who made reports then quickly went to find the assistant dean and gave the report to him. They were supposed to find Ms. Eun, the dean or in other words, headmistress.
The assistant dean was confused at first but Daewhi told him to sit down first and read it after. Although he's the assistant dean, he didn't acted like one. They went out to give him space but seconds later they heard a shout.
"Inside!" he shouted, forcing their attention to him.
"explain this" he pointed at the paper which was clearly now crumpled.
"can't you read it? We already explained everything in this paper. Do you want me to show her to you?" Jungkook spat. Daewhi just looked at the older guy and shut his mouth. He held himself from laughing and mocking at the assistant dean, that would be rude of him.
Xiumin guided the dean to the clinic tent and there he saw Jimin and Leilein eating. She quickly covered her broken body but Jimin held her hands to stop her and mumbled 'stop'.
Leilein just sighed and let the assistant dean examined her. She was uncomfortable with the stare he was giving her since she was wearing cotton shorts. She quickly nudged Jimin and he quickly got it.
He gave a piercing glare to him and covered her skin. He might be the assistant dean but when it comes to Leilein, he would disregard that fact.
" who did this to you? How did you end up like that?" he asked. As if he didn't read the report a while ago.
Just then Daewhi mumbled, "I swear, our assistant dean is stupid sometimes. I prefer Ms. Eun to be here, than him,"
Xiumin heard him and mumbled too, "does he know how to read?" He couldn't help but to gossip with the younger one.
Daewhi looked at Xiumin and quietly laughed, "I guess so. I mean, Jungkook hyung have the report already. Maybe he easily forgets things,"
They both chuckled but when they met Jimin's hard stare, they shut their mouth when Jimin told them to. Daewhi was biting his lips and pinched himself.
The assistant dean told her to rest and not take any activities and everyone told him to punish Jennie and her group or else they will bring this to the Department of Education and make this a bigger problem than it already was.
He excused himself to notify Ms. Eun but Jin and Namjoon already did it.
On the afternoon, Yoongi, Kai, Daewhi, Sehun and Kuanlin was already there replacing the previous caretakers of Leilein. She was their most important patient.
Jimin and the others took a bath and cleaned themselves before going to Jihyo and told her to help Leilein and stay by her side in case Jennie found out that she's back and broken.
Jennie and the others who participated in almost killing Leilein was brought back to their main campus and there, they stayed for a week, cleaning the whole ground. They were unable to finish the camp. It wasn't the punishment they deserved, the boys thought.
What the boys had in mind, the punishment should be the exact same thing they did to her. If Jennie stabbed Leilein's thigh, then she should have her thigh stabbed by someone who's ready to punish her by hurting Leilein. So is the others.
But they all know that that wasn't the good thing and Leilein didn't like hurting other people. She didn't like people going through pain because of her.
Everyone who participated the camp, heard about her and felt pity for her but still glad that even though she was lost and got hurt a lot, she still survived. Some gave her reassuring cards and sweets. When they went back to the campus, some gave her cute plushies, which of course, Jimin disregarded and put it on the van.
Jungkook had called her brother, Mark, about the situation and Mark promised that, when the camp finishes, he will make sure to give the school a surprise visit. He knew, with just one word from him, that school would perish but because of his sister, he refrained himself.
For the rest of the remaining days, she focused healing and had told them that she almost died but she smiled and told them that she's alive and breathing.
"I almost died...almost...but I'm still breathing"
