Bab 27: Neighbors
Lu Shen, Tang Lin, Tang Jin, Tang Qingyu, and Lu Ying were all sitting around the table at the Lu Residence.
"Hey, there's news that a group of rich friends in Tang Lin's neighborhood are going to move to Japan, so the houses around Tang Lin are all for sale!" Tang Jin said to them.
"Oh! We should get a house around there, so we could be closer to family," Tang Qingyu suggested to Lu Ying.
"That's a good idea!"
Tang Jin said, "I'm getting a house around there, too!"
Tang Lin and Lu Shen were silently sitting next to each other. They made eye contact and thought, 'There will be no more alone time for us.'
At that second, Lu Shen's phone rang. It was his Aunty Kim from Thailand.
"Hello, Aunty Kim."
"Oh! Hello, Shen! I was just telling you that I'll be arriving in China in a few hours and I wanted you to buy a house for me, so I could move right in and I wouldn't have to spend time finding a house. Don't worry. I'll pay you back. I trust that you will choose a good house for me."
"Okay."
He hung up and said to the group, "Well, Aunty Kim is also getting a house in Tang Lin's area. She'll be coming in a few hours."
"Really? Aunty Kim is moving here?" Lu Ying didn't hear about the wedding cancellation, so Lu Shen told her about it and she understood.
"Well, we better buy the houses before other people do the same thing. Those properties are one of the hardest to get. Also, I need to get it set up for Aunty Kim," Lu Shen said.
Everyone rushed and took out the cellphones.
"Hello, this is Tang Qingyu. I would like to buy a—"
"Hello, is there a house across that is for sale i—"
"Yes, put the house under the name of Lu Kim."
After all of their phone calls ended, they all drove over to the neighborhood and settled the matters for the houses.
They all moved in the same day, including the other owner who moved into the house on the right of Tang Lin's house.
Tang Jin moved across from Tang Lin's house.
Lu Ying, Tang Qingyu, and Lu Dai moved into the house on the left of Tang Lin's house.
Lu Shen was able to get the house on the right of Tang Jin's house for Lu Kim. He wasn't able to get the house on the right of Tang Lin because a wealthy business owner that came from abroad bought it. Rumor has it that nobody has seen his face before, but he has a very successful company. Ke Establishment is almost on par with Tang Corporation and Lu Group.
He relocated the main company to China from Korea. The man and his sister originally lived in China, but they moved to Korea, so the man could build up his company. The siblings had just recently moved back to China because they wanted to go and live in their home country. Also, because his sister fell in love with someone during her one-week visit recently. He didn't want her to miss her chance to get a boyfriend or have a long distance relationship.
When Lu Kim arrived in Beijing, Lu Shen sent her new address to her and she immediately headed over. She dropped off all of her luggage and possessions that she was able to bring from her house in Thailand, since she would be moving. She hired men to move her belongings from Thailand to China, but that would take about a day or two. Because of that, Lu Shen already set up furniture in the house for her and she would switch it out with her own furniture when it arrived in China.
When she went across the street to the house that Lu Shen told her to come to, she thought that she had gotten the wrong house because all of the lights were off.
Lu Kim only realized that it was the right house when she saw her family's special license plate on Lu Shen's car parked in Tang Lin's driveway.
She walked along the pathway and arrived at the door. Before she got to ring the doorbell, the door slowly opened. It was dark and silent inside the house.
She entered and said, "Hello? Is anyone home? Shen?"
Suddenly, the lights switched on and everyone yelled, "Welcome back!!"
Confetti was bursted into the air and a long banner that said "Welcome back to China!" was strewn across the wall.
Lu Kim could not take surprises well, so when they surprised her, she fell back because she tripped on her other foot.
She braced herself for the fall, but she never made it to the floor because someone caught her. It was a tall man that gave her a handsome smirk. He looked like he was in his late thirties.
"Hello. My name is Tang Jin. I'm Tang Lin's uncle. You must be Lu Kim, Lu Shen's aunt. It's nice to meet you!"
He gave out his hand for her to shake and she immediately accepted it.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, too!"
Lu Ying ran to her aunt and gave her a hug.
"Welcome back, Aunty Kim! I missed you!"
"Me too."
Lu Shen introduced all of them and they all sat at the living room. There was champagne and beer, so many of them were not acting normally. Lu Dai was being taken care of at the Lu Residence, so the adults were free to drink. Except for Lu Ying, since she was pregnant.
"Hey! Let's play spin the bottle! Instead of kissing, let's ask questions," Tang Jin suggested.
Everyone agreed to his suggestion.
First, Tang Jin went. The bottle kept on spinning until it reach Lu Shen.
"How long did you date my niece?"
"A week," he replied with a straight face.
"A week?! That's too short! You guys even got engaged, too!" Tang Qingyu said.
Lu Shen spun the bottle. Then, it reached to Lu Kim.
"Aunty Kim, are you interested in getting boyfriend anytime soon?"
"I'm not sure yet. I still need to get over that cheating bastard. Actually, I'm over him already! I'm open for dating!"
Tang Jin asked, "Were you cheated on? Me too!"
Everyone around the table said, "Hey! Hey! Hey! It's not your turn to ask questions yet! Aunty Kim, don't answer!"
They laughed as she spun the bottle. It pointed to Tang Jin.
"Will you date me?"
Everyone exploded. Lu Kim and Tang Jin? Together? It was not expected by them.
"Sure. Are you sure that you are aware of what you're asking, though? Are you sober?"
"Yep. I'm sober."
Once again, it was Tang Jin's turn and it pointed to Tang Qingyu.
"When are you guys getting engaged?"
"Soon. We already have two kids, so we should get married soon. Before Ying-Ying's belly starts showing."
Tang Qingyu spun the bottle and it pointed to Tang Lin.
"How did Lu Shen propose to you?"
She said no words and took out her phone. Tang Lin showed them pictures and videos that Lu Shen hired people to take during his proposal.
Lu Ying was jealous. "Why couldn't I get someone as romantic as my brother? She had beautiful floating lanterns and a sweet proposal! There was a candlelit pathway, too!"
Tang Qingyu's question slapped him back on the face. He was called unromantic by his own girlfriend.
"Okay. We're gonna go home now."
Tang Qingyu and Lu Ying stood up and went home.
"We should head out, too. I will take Lu Kim home."
Tang Jin held her shoulders to support her and Tang Lin and Lu Shen walked them out.
They were alone now, but there was a weird feeling. It felt like someone was with them, or someone was looking at them. The two shook it off and went back in.
