Bab 16: Secret Meeting
After they went back into the house, Lin couldn't help but wonder why Ying was giving her a weird look. It wasn't a mean "Get away from my brother" look. It was like a "I like you, but you have a flaw" look. Tang Lin was good at reading expressions.
Lu Ying was the owner of a fashion brand, so she always looked good in her clothes and she was very beautiful. Most mothers would be too tired to care about their appearance because they would need to take care of their kids. However, Lu Ying was able to give her child her utmost love and attention and also take care of her company and appearance.
Shen and Lin sat on the couch and watched Dai play with the dolls on the floor.
Lin asked Shen, "I didn't know your sister was married. How old is Dai?"
He sighed and whispered, "Ying's ex-boyfriend left her to go abroad. My sister hid my niece's existence from him for many years because she didn't want to trouble him and damage his reputation. He was well known in the society and she didn't want their premarital child to hold him back, so when he went to America for work for five years, she birthed Dai and took care of her by herself. When he came back, he broke up with her because of some incident that even I don't know of and he left abroad again. Dai is seven years old. She's never had the love of a father, so I try my best to be there for her. I don't know who that man is, but if I did, I would beat him to a pulp. Even if there was some incident, he should've been more understanding and he should've stayed to take care of my sister and my niece."
Lin understood the situation now. She felt bad for this cute little girl. She had to live without the love of another parent.
"Aunty Lin, Uncle Shen, can you come play with me? I'm getting bored." The girl just sat on the floor and stared at them.
"Of course, dear!" Lin sat on the floor with her and played dolls with her. Shen soon followed and watched them get closer.
Meanwhile, Lu Ying walked out of her car and walked into the cafe. Her eyes skimmed over the place, looking for the man who broke her heart and left her for a year.
"Ying. Over here." Tang Qingyu was sitting at a small table by himself. He was sipping on his coffee.
She walked over to the table and sat down.
"Why did you call me over? Is this about Shen and Lin?" Ying didn't want to be near this man. He didn't bother to listen and trust her, so why would she still waste her time on him?
"Yes. I want you to help me separate them."
"Why? Why do you want to separate them? They love each other. Why can't they be together?" Ying argued. Their past relationship shouldn't be the cause of their siblings' breakup and suffering. If they wanted to be together, then so be it! Why did they have to get involved?
"Do you want them to end up like us? What if your brother cheats on my sister like you did to me? I will not tolerate this!" Tang Qingyu said.
"Do you know where I just came from? I came from my brother's house and I saw them together. They looked so loving towards each other. And I'm willing to give your sister a chance. What if she's more understanding than you? If you asked me to come because you want to break them up, then I'm leaving. I'm not going to try to ruin my brother's love life because of your wishes." Lu Ying stood up and walked out.
She walked quickly to her car and got in. She started the car and drove to Shen's house. Suddenly, her tears started to fall and she sobbed. She sniffed and tried to wipe her tears, but they kept on falling down. A wave of sadness crashed onto her and she cried loudly while holding onto the steering wheel. The man she waited for for so many years didn't even seem to miss her or want to get back with her. She wanted Dai to have a complete family. She didn't want her daughter to suffer like this. Ying remembered the days when she would go to Qingyu's house and sleep in his embrace. However, he wasn't the same man as before. The man in the cafe was not the sweet, romantic man that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. She didn't even recognize him anymore.
An hour later, she was able to get her face back to normal, since her makeup smeared due to the crying.
She walked to the door and rang the bell. Soon after, Shen, Lin, and Dai came to the door.
Lin noticed the slight smear on the side of Lu Ying's face and knew that she had just finished crying. She did a good job at covering it up though. A normal person wouldn't be able to notice it, but Lin had a habit of paying attention to very small details. That's why her jewelries at her shop were very high-quality and beautiful, without having any flaws to them.
"Thank you guys again. We're going to get going now." Ying took her daughter's hand and walked with her to the car.
The couple waved them goodbye and Lin got ready to go home, too.
Shen dropped her off and Lin went into the house.
"Finally, you're home. Hanging out with your fiancée again?" Tang Jin said as he watched his Korean drama on the TV.
"Yep." She sat down and watched with him.
"Why are you so obsessed with these dramas?" Tang Lin asked.
"Just watch." Her uncle said.
Currently, the woman in the drama was pregnant and she was dating a rich man. However, the man's mother found out that she was a poor woman, but she didn't know that the woman was pregnant. The mother splashed a cup of water into the woman's face.
"Take this money and get away from my son!" The mother threw a bundle of money from her purse at the pregnant woman and stomped out.
The lady then found out that her rich boyfriend had a fiancée arranged by his mother.
Lin got so mad. She wanted to punch the mom and the snobby fiancée in the face.
When the pregnant woman went to go ask for an explanation from her boyfriend, she got into a car accident and blood dripped onto the streets.
Then, the dramatic Korean drama violin music came on and the names of the cast popped up. It was a cliffhanger.
"What the hell?! Damn cliffhanger!! Uncle! Hurry! Put on the next episode!" Lin wanted to see the woman get her revenge.
Her uncle was scared by his niece's anger and he angered her even more by saying, "The next episode doesn't come until next week on Thursday."
Poor Tang Jin, he just wanted to watch his drama alone, but instead, he got the wrath of his dear niece just because of his Korean drama.
"Next Thursday?! I have to wait six more days?!" Lin was about to throw a remote at the TV.
"Just watch the past episodes. Then, you won't have to suffer waiting for the next episode like me. You can just spend time watching those episodes before watching the next one that's coming out." Tang Jin recommended.
Lin didn't want to go all the way back to watch the past episodes, but she also wanted to know what happened before, so her uncle went all the way back to episode one for her. She had already watched three episodes, when her uncle got tired and went to bed.
Tang Lin didn't want to go to sleep and the cliffhangers kept on making her go onto the next episode. She stayed up all night and luckily, the next day was a weekend, so she didn't need to worry about being tired during work since she could sleep the whole day.
