Bab 42: Give me back my food. You are not eating it.
Later in the evening, Bai Yaran returned from work. She was a nurse and was supposed to be back in the afternoon but had to cover for a colleague so she worked double shifts thereby returning in the evening.
" Hey guys what's up? " She asked as she came in through the door stopping to remove her shoes and change into slippers.
" Welcome back Yaran. How was work? "
" Work was great if you don't count my tiredness. I'm beat. Did you guys prepare anything? I'm sooooo hungry. "
" Go take a shower and by then our wonderful chef Grace would be done preparing the meal." Mo Ning said from the couch.
"You sound like you pay me to cook for you. If you make me angry there would be no food for you. " Grace who had been in the kitchen preparing dinner suddenly poked her head out and spoke.
" Don't pay attention to her nonsense Grace. "
" Welcome Yaran. And you Xiao Ning I'll forgive you because of Yaran. " Grace Said before going back to preparing dinner.
Seeing that she had gone back to her food preparation, Mo Ning stuck out her tongue in Grace's direction,to which Bai Yaran just shook her head and went into her room to grab some clothes and then went to take a shower.
Twenty minutes later, the table was filled with food that could feed ten people and there might still be leftovers.
Bai Yaran got out of the bathroom dressed in her pajamas. And everyone gathered at the table to eat.
"Hmmm Grace this smell delicious. I bet it tastes better. "
" Looking at you, no one would believe you are an actress. " Grace retorted looking at Mo Ning who already had a pork rib in her hands preparing to send it to stomach town.
" Why would they not believe I'm an actress
I'm in good shape and I act very well alright. "
" Yeah right." Grace replied in a sarcastic tone.
"How many actresses eat like you do. I wonder how you are not fat considering how much you eat and how little you exercise."
" Don't be jealous alright. If you keep looking at my body, you might start crying. So just look away and enjoy your meal. "
" You! Give me back my food you're not eating this food. " Grace said while standing up to remove the plates in front of Mo Ning.
Watching their childish antics, Bai Yaran just face palmed. She continued eating not bothering to intervene they will settle their own issue by themselves.
" If I don't eat, can the both of you finish this food? "
" Even if we can't, we'll just pack it and put it in the refrigerator. That means I don't have to cook tomorrow. "
" Hey Grace! If you don't let me eat, I won't tell you the news I have. You decide. " Mo Ning said, folding her arms across her chest with a victorious look on her face.
Knowing how curious Grace was, she knew she already won. She wasn't ashamed of using it against her.
After all, they won't bat an eyelid when doing the same to her,plus they were friends anyway.
Looking at it from another angle, they all shared that same trait of curiosity. Only that Bai Yaran was more subtle compared to the other two.
" Are you sure you really have something to tell? Forget it, if you don't tell me I'll ask Yaran after you tell her. "
" Don't bother. Before I tell her, I'll make her pinky promise not to tell you. So your choice. "
" Fine! You win. Take the food and continue eating like a pig." Grace said with mock anger returning the plate to its initial position.
"I knew you would let me eat." Mo Ning said digging in again.
"Just shut up and eat. So you can tell us what you want to say. " Grace said to which Mo Ning didn't bother replying since she already had her face stuffed with food.
