Bab 13: Chief's Office

The elevator reaches its destination, looking into place with a slight shake, the shutters opening up to a small little room that's well lit. The doorway is open, showing a walkway on a lower section of the station's roof. A metal fence stands to the left, and a tall wall to the right, two large windows, drenched and impossible to see into. They step out of the elevator and hurry through the path, into another doorway on the other side leading to a hall. The walls are made of exposed brick, with some wooden framing. They make a right, the hall continuing a few feet until it comes to a dead end.

There's a small crack in the wall to the left, light seeping through. They both ready their guns as they approach it, Leon placing a wall on the wall and pulling. The wall opens up, showing green wallpaper with a fancy pattern on it. They enter a large room, an american flag on a pole immediately to their left. To their right is a large stuffed buck, gazing into the room. A large desk stands in front slightly to the left, a stuffed raccoon on the right side, and a typewrite on the left. Cabinets, framed pictures, and various stuff animals line the walls, leaving barely any open space.

Beyond the desk is a short wooden table, two leather chairs sitting across from each other. Behind the table and chairs, is a large stuffed wolf.

"This gives me the creeps," Claire mutters as they enter the room. She spots an open booklet on the table. She picks up it and skims over it, "Listen to what this creep wrote, 'I nearly came when I sliced its yellow belly open and its warm guts spilled out'. Who the hell let this guy be the chief?" She asks as she chucks the book back onto the table.

"If I knew, that," Leon points to the book, "I might have had second guesses about being a cop. But, I probably still would have joined, to make sure people are safe from him," To the left of the back wall, next to two gazelle heads, is a door with a heart symbol on it. On the back of the right wall where the wolf is looking, is another door. Not having anywhere else to go, they go through the door, a giant stuffed tiger greeting them. The room is a hall going off to the right. They walk past the tiger and continue down the hallway along a carpet. The hall turns left, leading to another door. They enter a room about the same size as the office, several shelves in front of them, forcing them to turn left to continue.

Turning, they see an indent in the wall, a large cell wall blocking the area off from the rest of the room. Some furniture sits inside, a white dial up phone sitting on a small desk. Against the left wall is a larger desk, an orange box sitting on top of it. The door is locked, an electronic panel with a missing piece connected to it.

"Normally, I'd think we could just, take some pieces off of this and just put it in the other one," Claire states as she walks up to it, "But, I know that's not gonna work,"

"Hold on, lemme check," Leon states as he pulls out a piece of paper and re-reads it, "Nope, you're right, those are all neutral pieces, we need charged pieces,"

"Told ya," Claire replies as she steps away from the thing, "I bet you that's one of the pieces in that box,"

"Probably," Leon shrugs. They continue to check out the rest of the room, walking to the right and then making another right into a short little path between some shelves all lined with various pots and small statues from around the world. They walk by a stuffed dodo and go to the end of the path, where a cabinet with a marble top sits. Three angle statues sit on the left, a stuffed owl on a log on the right, and in the middle is a medium sized painting in a frame, a heart matching the one on the other door being held up by two bronze women.

Claire picks it up, examining it. She turns it around, seeing that there's actually a key taped to the back of the portrait. She takes the key off the frame and puts the picture back down on the cabinet.

"Found a way out," She states as she holds the key up. They head back to the office and unlock the heart door. They enter a waiting area of sorts. Some seats and magazines are in front of them. Stairs leading to the floors above and below are slightly to the right. The room connects to a corridor, continuing down to the right, but ends quickly from a shutter. They head downstairs, walking through a doorway that seems like an entrance to a prison cell, the door made of metal bars.

A blockade stands to the left, in front of them is a door that's been nailed shut. The top of the door is missing with some boards nailed on it, but a lot of the hole is still uncovered. Leon glances into the room.

"I recognize this," He states. he quickly jumps back when a zombie suddenly comes lunging towards the hole, reaching through with its arms, "T-That's uh, a press conference room or something. I checked it out when I first got here,"

"Which side of the building is it in?"

"The east hall," He pulls out a map, and checks it, "So, this leads to the interrogation and observation room,"

"That sounds fun," Clasire comments as they turn right and head down the hall, which turns left after only a few feet. As they pass by a boarded up window, a zombie comes running up, and starts banging on the wood. The rain can be faintly heard through the open window as they continue down the hall. At the end of the hall, there's another door with a heart symbol on it. The hall continues to the left where it ends in a couple meters. Some lockers sit against the left wall, and a few feet from the heart door, is another door with a clover symbol.

"Who on earth makes this stuff?"

"The station use to be an art museum," Leon states, "Read it in a pamphlet I found,"

"That just makes this even more bizarre and confusing," Claire replies. She walks up to the heart door, and unlocks it. They step into a small room, the floor is made of dark grey tiles, along with the wall, a wooden trim a couple feet tall lines the bottom of the walls. A table and a chair sit in the middle of the room, a camera left of the door facing it and another smaller table to the left of the camera. At the other side of the room is a rusty metal shelf with some boxes sitting on it. Most of the left wall is made of glass, reflecting the room. The words, "Let me out!" are smeared onto the glass.

On the table by the camera is some ammo.

"Need any?" Claire asks, holding it up.

"I'm good on handgun, you should take it,"

"Such a gentleman," She states as she opens it up, four bullets inside. She puts them in her bag. Leon walks over to the shelf, where a peculiar blue box catches his attention. He picks it up, looking at the intricate gold carvings on it. Four red gems are placed on the top of it, with a slot in the middle for a much bigger one.

"Hey, check this out," Leon states as he turns to her. As he starts walking back towards her, the glass shatters as a Licker comes jumping through.
