Looking around the boat, Gon and I see many tough looking applicants. Two of which, seem to be younger than the rest. I follow Gon as we walk along the boat. The sound of products falling onto the ground catches our attention. We look over and see 3 people. One is on the ground.
"What are you doing Katsuo?"
One of the men standing says to the man on the ground.
"At this rate, you'll never make a decent sailor."
The other says, also to the man on the ground.
Katsuo tries to get up, but one of them kicks him on the behind. He falls onto the box of apples, this causes Gon to become mad. I grab Gon's shoulder. Nodding my head, we walk down stairs. The men are heard laughing.
"What are you bent over?"
Before we could say anything, the sound of a door opening catches our attention.
"Hey, losers!"
Looking carefully, he looks like the man that was yelling for the applicants to get on board. I'm positive he's the captain.
"Don't slack off!"
"A-aye, sir!"
The two men scurry off.
As the captain walks towards them, he drinks some sort of drink. He sees Katsuo who is picking up fallen apples on the ground.
"Hey…"
Katsuo jolts.
"Didn't you hear me? Move that box!"
"A-aye, captain!"
Katsuo picks up the box. Before he could leave, Gon shouts for him to wait. He looks back and sees Gon holding an apple. Gon tosses it at him. He catches it in the box.
"Thanks!"
He says as he runs off. I look at Gon with a frown. Gon laughs.
"Esther, it's not nice to steal from others. Wait till we get to the hunters exam, I'm sure there will be plenty of food."
I sigh in retort. The sound of seagulls makes me and Gon look up.
"A storms coming…"
I hear the captain make a surprised sound. He looks at Gon.
"How can you tell, boy?"
"That's what the seagulls are saying."
I nod to show support.
"Plus…"
Gon adjusts his nose. He takes in the smell of the air and proceeds to bounce upward. I stay.
"It's a huge storm that's coming!"
The captain looks shocked.
"It's true! I can tell by the smell!"
"Even the air tastes more salty than usual."
The captain turns to me, I duck my head. Gon jumps off from the pillar and lands near me. The captain seems to see something in Gon.
"And how long until the storm arrives?"
"Two hours."
Both Gon and I say in sync. We look at each other and smile. The captain looks for a few seconds before laughing.
"I've been in this business for a long time, but your only the second people to guess that right. Losers! Lower the sails!"
