Bab 47: 47_Finally Over it
Mu Lihai wanted to stay over at Li Yao's place until morning but as great as the idea came to him, he had no choice but to go back home to see his parents.
The meal they cooked and had together was delicious. It was better than any other five stars hotel chef's dishes. He told Li Yao that it was because they cooked it together with love. She laughed at his playful remark and said nothing.
Li Yao sent Mu Lihai to the doorstep. She gave him a once-over from head to toe. To see him one last time before they parted. Then she noticed the same cashmere shawl she had given him, wrapped around his neck. He wore it all the time and it warmed her heart.
"Thank you for wearing it.." Li Yao touched the fabric slightly with her slender finger. Her eyes were gentle and they had a trace of a smile.
Mu Lihai gently took hold of her fingers and he kissed them lightly, ever so slowly, with his eyes closed. She could feel his love in every feathering kiss he made to her fingers. She loved it.
"I'll fetch you tomorrow." he told her.
"Okay." Li Yao agreed.
She didn't want to touble him very early in the morning but he told her it was necessary for him to fetch her to and from work because it made him uneasy to leave her alone. He wanted to see her safe everyday ever since she was harassed by that scumbag of a man. And Li Yao had no choice but to agree. She also wanted to see him everyday.
Although it was selfish of her, she didn't care. It might be one of the motives why she agreed to his idea. But who wouldn't want to be with their lover anytime?
"You made me become a selfish woman, Mu Lihai.." Li Yao murmured to herself. Sighing helplessly.
"Hm?" Mu Lihai didn't catch her words.
"Nothing. Why don't you come a bit early tomorrow? I'll make you a bento box for breakfast." Li Yao suddenly suggested. She had no idea what came to her. She suddenly wanted to prepare his food after seeing him eating their meal earlier. Now she developed a new hobby, to see him eating her food.
As she had been living and tending to her own self for six years, Li Yao made good cooking skills over the years. She had been eating alone for those six years and the food tasted so bland that she didn't realize her own great cooking skills. When Mu Lihai complimented Li Yao's food, she realized that her food actually tasted amazing. Now she loved seeing him eat her food.
"Bento box?" Mu Lihai's eyes brightened considerably. He couldn't wait to eat her food. He found Li Yao's meal very delicious and he liked it. It became his favorite apart from aunt Zhu's.
"Yep. Feel free to expect the best from me!" Li Yao grinned cheekily at her boyfriend with her arms dangling on his shoulder.
"Definitely." Mu Lihai kissed Li Yao's cheek and he quickly went away after that. He was afraid that if he stayed any longer, he would want to stall.

Mu Lihai arrived home after 10. He saw his parents sititng in the living room with eyes on television. They looked so focused that he thought that nothing was wrong at all.
That was what he thought until Mu Ruan called for him almost immediately after she noticed him.
"Yes?" Mu Lihai went to his parents with his long coat hanging on his right arm. He had a hunch that something was about to transpire.
"Have you heard from your assistant?" she inquired with a dangerous gaze that seemed to eat him whole.
"I have." Mu Lihai sighed inwardly. Great. Just great. His parents indeed knew about that tailing thing.
"Have you offended someone nowadays?" she asked after noting her son's facial expression.
"Do I look like I have the time to do that?" Mu Lihai almost rolled his eyes. Mu Zhi laughed when he saw his son trying to suppress his annoyance.
"You just became the president and someone out there was already trying to sneak on you. Such perks of being my son." Mu Ruan sighed.
"Excuse me?" Mu Lihai didn't get it.
"Well, being my son is too much for you, Lihai. Since your mom is too pretty for that. That's why they tailed you- to get closer to me." Mu Ruan teased. She liked seeing her son's puzzled look. He was always a cheeky kid before he changed. He had her good for more than a dozens of times before. Tricking her just to be able to sneak out from home and crashing over his friend's place.
"Mom!" Mu Lihai sighed in exasperation. Why did she have to say that? Was she a narcissist?
"Hahahhaha! She got you." Mu Zhi laughed seeing Mu Lihai's irritation. Then he ceased his laughter and asked him what he was up to these days.
"Nothing much. Country X's problem has been settled. I'll just be looking over some important report." Mu Lihai's swift answer made him nodded in approval.
Mu Ruan switched off the television and she got up. She went to Mu Lihai and grabbed his hand. Feeling the coldness in his hands, her brows scrunched up. Her son's condition was getting better after the treatment several years before the accident. But it didn't improve either after that.
"Have you been sleeping well these days?" Mu Ruan asked softly. Her eyes looked worried.
"Of course. Don't worry too much, mom." Mu Lihai saw the look in her eyes and he softened up.
He had his parents worried over him for years.
He felt remorseful knowing that he was the cause of their constant worries.
"Mom.. dad." Mu Lihai wanted to apologize, but the words stucked in his throat.
"Yes, dear?" Mu Ruan faced her only son straight in the eye.
"No.. nothing. I'll be upstairs." Mu Lihai excused himself and strode to his room. Leaving his parents by themselves.
"He'll be okay now, right?" Mu Ruan asked her husband when he stepped closer to her side.
"He will. He's been in a good mood nowadays." Mu Zhi answered while he clutched her shoulder softly.
They just wanted nothing more than their bright, rebellious son back. Because they knew best that Mu Lihai didn't live his life to the fullest for the past six years. Since he was constantly reminded of his own nightmare that told him his sin over and over again.
"He's not just in a good mood. I can see that he's finally over it. He seems more alive than ever. What makes him like that, I wonder." Mu Ruan said and her husband nodded slightly after he collected her words.
