Bab 30: The Experiment
Pulling me back from my memories, I hear Talia timidly calling out to me in a concerned voice. "Hey, Tess are you okay? After you answered my question you went silent for a while."
"Ya, don't worry about me, I'm fine," I say to her as I wipe my tears as quietly as possible. For the most part I'm past what happen, but it still is really painful and frustrating. Just as I'm about to start talking again, both of us hear the sound of footsteps approaching. My heart sinks a little knowing it's probably my time, since Talia already went today. Bracing myself mentally for what I knew was about to happen I stand up and walk towards the cell door.
The door in front of me swings open towards the outside. I see an average joe guy, regular hight, from what I can tell from my new perspective, brown hair and eyes, normal build and a lab coat. Knowing I can't do anything to fight back, he gestures for me to follow and starts. I ponder whether I should just not follow, but as I do a sense a hint of danger which sends a shiver down my spine. Now having an inkling of something bad happening if I don't follow, I start following him to where he is taking me.
After walking down many winding corridors, we finally arrive at a room which smells of anesthetic. 'Probably from cleaning things, though I'm surprised they have that here,' I think to myself as I'm brought into the room. Next thing I notice is the man disappearing for a moment, and feeling danger before passing out, again.
When I come to, probably not long after, I'm firmly chained to the table in the room. The man from earlier is gone, but not long after I wake back up a new person walks in. This person gives me a more experienced vibe, as if he's the head researcher or something. He has red hair and deep blue eyes, with a rather skinny build.
"This is going to be fun, because you have a bloodline as potent as you do, I can inject much more than we're normally able to do. I wish you luck," he says to me with a sadistic smile, probably looking forward to the painful injection.
Apprehensive of the pain thats about to hit me I stiffen. I flinch at the large needle is stabbed into my body just below my armpit. The pain skyrockets as it goes into my heart, and he injects the bloodline solution. At that moment I just wished that I would die, half of my heart feels like it is on fire. Quickly that pain spreads to my brain and throughout the rest of my body.
The pain is so intense that I can't even move, my screaming voice sounds so, distant from me. All I can do focus on is the pain that courses through my body. Each pump of my heart send another jolt of pain through my body, as the pain increases my heart rate the spikes of pain happen faster and faster. My sense of time skews as I can no longer tell how long it has been. After what feels like an eternity the pain starts to subside. My voice is raw from the screaming, I can't even talk with how damaged my vocal chords are right now.
With the pain gone all I'm able to do is sob. Even then I don't make any noise other than sniffling. I look over with tear filled eyes and all I know is that a blissful expression is on his face. "That. Was. Extraordinary. I can hardly believe someone has a potent enough bloodline to survive such concentration. The last person only lasted the first few moments before their body burst. But you, you lasted the whole half hour assimilation. With this you should be able to assimilate a new race in fifteen treatments, instead of 300. Who would have though such potent blood still existed so long after the age of the ancients."
Everything was spoken in a fascinated tone, until he started to get quiet at the end. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to hear anything, because I was still emotionally numb from the torturous experience.
