Yu Chen looked at her phone and realised that he had indeed texted and called her. She said, "Sorry. Come in, will you."
Mo Kio entered and put his bag pack on the couch. He sniffed and said, "Did you guys make food?"
Yu Chen rolled her eyes, "No we did not. Stop pretending to be a dog."
Mo Kio: "I thought I could trick you. My bad."
Just then, Yu Mian came out of the bedroom wearing a dress that she had bought for Chen. The dress was a royal blue colour with gold design on the upper side upto the waist.
Mian said, "Sis, how do you like my choice? Who was at the door? Oh, hey Kio." She looked up and greeted Kio.
Mo Kio scratched his head as he said, "Oh hey. Nice dress." Chen noticed Kio's ears going slightly red and she chuckled.
Chen said, "Hey Mian, me and Kio have somewhere we need to be. Will you please make dinner today?"
Hearing her sister, Yu Mian pouted, "That's not fair. You even asked me to make lunch all by myself. I'm not your maid, you know."
Yu Chen thought for a while and said, "How about this? I'll let you have this dress as a thank you."
Mian was surprised. She said, "No sis. How can I take this dress. It's so pretty and you'll have to wear this if there's a party in London."
Chen: "Just think about it, okay. And make dinner while you're at it."
She then turned towards Mo Kio and said, "Where are we going?"
Mo Kio was in a daze. He said with a confused look on his face, "Huh. What?"
Chen rolled her eyes, "Let's go. I made arrangements for you to eat Mian's cooking."
Mo Kio: "What?"
Yu Chen: "Come on." She then grabbed his hand and pulled him out the door. Kio had barely enough time to grab his bag and give one last look and smile to Yu Mian, before he was dragged out the door.
As they came out of the apartment building, Yu Chen said, "Can you please stop acting like that in front of Mian? My sister's gonna think I became friends with idiots."
Mo Kio: "But..."
Yu Chen: "I get it. She's pretty. You like her. But still, get a grip man."
Mo Kio: "....."
Yu Chen sighed and shook her head before changing the subject, "So, where are we going?"
Mo Kio: "I want to take you somewhere very important to me."
As he said this, Kio's face was devoid of any emotion, but his voice was filled with so much sadness and emptiness that Yu Chen only mumbled a small okay.
She did not even complain as she was getting on his bike. Yu Chen understood that whatever Kio wanted her to know was something very important to him and had probably left a huge scar on him. So she let him have some time and decided not to pry.
Mo Kio also did not say anything as they rode off in silence.
