I knew what I had to do, but first I needed to get out from underneath this damn wolf. My left arm was completely useless right now, at least my HP wasn't constantly dropping any more. Checking my mana and stamina, my mana was slowly regenerating but my stamina was almost full again.
I tried to shove the wolf's body off of me with my right arm, I barely got it to shift slightly before my strength ran out and it shifted on top of me. It knocked the wind out of me, this thing had to weigh close to 300 pounds.
"I wish I could just put this thing into my inventory..." I started to say out loud before I stopped. Why can't I put it into my inventory? I focused on the wolf and pictured placing it into my inventory. The wolf disappeared instantly, and I felt the weight leave my body.
I sat up, wincing in pain. Even supporting my arm, moving it still hurt like hell. Looking around, the grass was torn up in spots where the wolfs claws had dug into the ground. Blood was all over the ground around me, I couldn't even tell the difference between its blood and my own.
Trying to avoid what I knew I had to do next, I looked over to where I initially entangled the wolf. The ground was soaked it its blood, how high was this things health? I swore to myself next time to try and check the creatures level and health.
Checking the rest of my body I noticed that my clothes were torn and ripped in a lot of places. I'll have to try and figure something out later, not like I had anywhere I could buy another set of clothes. Well if I had money that is.
Sighing to myself, I knew I couldn't put this off anymore. I checked my health, 51. My mana had regained enough for another 4 casts of Minor Mend. I immediately cast the spell twice, bringing my total HP up to 101. I saved the last 2 casts for now. With my previous spells, the bones had started to heal out of place. I would need to re-break them and align them back into place before casting another healing spell.
Trying to ignore the pain I started pressing on my arm to feel where the bones were broken. Both bones broken in two places. Taking a deep breath, and slowly letting it out I used all my strength and snapped the fragile bones. A soundless screamed escaped my mouth, I started getting dizzy and nearly passed out. It took more than 10 minutes before I was able to calm down enough to even think clearly.
I gave myself a few more minutes before even thinking of realigning the bones. Taking another deep breath, I started manipulating the bones back into their original positions, the pain was insane but persevered. Honestly if another wolf had shown up at that second, I wouldn't even have attempted to fight it. I was finally able to get the bones to line up correctly, and pulling two straight twigs from my inventory, and cutting some strips from my already ruined tunic I was able to make a simple splint. I could kiss that guess lecturer that gave a talk on how to treat basic injuries.
Once everything was in place I started casting Minor Mend. The bones started to reattach, this time in the correct position, and my health continued to climb. I had to wait for my mana to regenerate twice before I was back to full health. And I was able to use my left arm again, it was still sore, but it was functional. I took the brace off and put it in my inventory.
I was finally able to climb to my feet, checking my surroundings I was thankful I didn't see any other animals. I was done for today. I looked around for my bow and found it a few feet away, I picked it up and noticed it had a crack in its wood. I tried pulling back on the string and was happy to see that it didn't snap in my hands, but I knew it wouldn't last much longer. I would need to learn some range spells soon and increase my mana.
As quickly as I could I made my way back to the glade, stopping at the border I noticed something odd. There were paw prints just inside the tree line that went along the border of the clearing. Not one of the paw prints ever stepped beyond the line of trees, almost like the animals were afraid to enter the clearing. What is up with this clearing and its pond? I wondered to myself while I made my way back to my now burnt out campfire.
There was only maybe another hour of light left now. I quickly rebuilt a fire and took a quick bath in the pond. Washing all the blood off, I also felt some relief entering my body from the water. There was definitely something off about this place, but whatever it was I was thankful for it. Once I was cleaned I made my way back to my fire, stripped from my sopping wet clothes and placed them to start drying. I made a note that my pants were fine, but my tunic was pretty much done. I'll deal with that later. Luckily it wasn't cold in this place, the days were nice and warm, and the nights were slightly cool.
Now that I was warming myself by the fire, it was time to check out my notifications.

My jaw dropped open, two entire levels for killing that wolf! 1600 exp is insane, although the text saying it's because it was higher than my level makes sense. And Archery reached level 10, and just from stabbing the thing my Small blades skill increased by 4 and is now level 5. I wouldn't want to repeat it again, but at least I gained something else for having to treat my arm besides insane amounts of pain and a new wolf phobia. Ok I'm exaggerating about the phobia, slightly, from now on I just would make sure they are very dead long before they get close to me. But bringing my First Aid from 0 to 6 is a nice bonus! Especially the 30% increase to healing effect that will affect my Minor Mend spell.
While I was celebrating my level and skill increases my Grimoire made itself known by using its chain to bring itself right in front of my face. I always thought grimoires were just spell books, but apparently here, they had some kind life. I kept getting a mental pulling motion from book, like it was tugging on my sleeve.
"Yes?" I asked it, I was seriously talking to a book. But this seemed to make it happy, as I felt a slight happy feeling coming from the link I shared with it in my mind. I received an image of me placing my hand onto its cover. Not thinking much of it, the mental stress of the day had sent my mind into a dense mental fog, I placed my hand on the book and received a prompt.
