Bab 53: Chapter 10 The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind (2)
Back in the General Murong's manor, Murong LiWang changed out her clothes and ate the snacks that was prepared for her in her room.
"Did you manage to get a hold of who else was there?" Murong LiWang was facing up to see the moonless sky when she asked HeiYing.
"This lowly one is incapable and willing to be punished." HeiYing could only bow low to his young master, as young master disliked anyone kneeling in front of him, claiming that he was not their parents.
"..." Of course LiWang knew HeiYing's uncanny capabilities, and that he hid his full potential from her. If HeiYing cannot detect the others, it meant that they were dealing with some powerful immortals. Who would want to spy on them or their motives were on the 9th prince, Xue ShiMin?
On the far side of the Xue kingdom, SheLin finally caught up with the branch leader of the Crimson Wolf, about the Young Miss situation and location. His tail had hidden itself when he was talking to the branch leader, and only reappearing when they left the Crimson Wolf territory.
"Xun XiaoJie, you know no matter how you hide, your family will always know? I can bet my skin that branch leader had already sent word to your family at this very moment." SheLin was lamenting at why all these young ladies running away from their families - first their precious little young miss and now the Xun young miss. He already had his hands full with one female assignment, why add another one?
"Big brother snake, I won't be a bother to you. I'm easy to take care, I hunt my own food and have my own money, this will be a trip to broaden my horizon. And I just want to see Young Little Miss, your lord had always hidden her away from us..."
SheLin had already changed to his human form when he arrived in the mortal realm, and he told Xun BingBing to do so too since they would be supervising the little young miss. The branch leader had already told them that the within some of these mortals, there were those that had keen awareness and maybe able to detect them.
While the Crimson Wolf were trying to locate the little young miss, they had some encounters with some pesky immortals from TianDao sect and then half immortals that cropped up around the world. The Crimson Wold took time to check whether these half immortals or TianDao sect had anything to do with the Little Young Miss as somehow the activities of the immortals overlapped.
For the TianDao sect to be active after centuries of dormancy since the founding of their sect, Crimson Wolf found its peculiar why the sudden change these few years. One of the half immortal that was gaining attention from Crimson Wolf was the leader of Eastern Righteousness Alliance (ERA). However, after some surveillance, the found that this leader of ERA, MengTian, thought himself as powerful and had little knowledge about the immortal world.
MengTian's mortal ambitions was of no concern to Crimson Wolf but why was MengTian only plotting now with it these few years too when his existence was more than few centuries old?
There were other half immortals and their powers were not substantial, but that did not mean they were not worthy not to be surveyed. Any little things could not be missed especially now they had an important task to locate the Young Little Miss. At first, they had thought they might have found a lead, but it turned out to be a fluke and they could only go back to surveying key half mortals and mortals, hoping it would lead to the Young Little Miss.
This evening the Crimson Wolf had went to a location when they detected certain killing intent in the air and they found out they were not the only ones watching the show. The TianDao sect immortals were also there, lurking in another shadowy part. Both Crimson Wolf and TianDao sect looked at each other, before putting off their showdown to watch the mortals. Both had also noticed there was another shadowy figure also seemed to notice their presence but chose to remain at his spot.
The immortals left the scene, both parties tried to show interest on the masked imp who showed excellent martial arts. However, when they reached the General's manor, they found out the imp was the child of the Xue's kingdom glorified supreme general, it was of no wonder the son turned out to have great martial skills and strong sense of justice.
Before Crimson Wolf could get into the manor to spy on the masked imp, TianDao sect immortal began to attack them. The immortals were both wearing black and all were masked, after fighting and TianDao disciples was maimed, the TianDao immortal swore to get back to them before retreating. The Crimson Wolf were also hurt and had to give up spying on the masked imp for that moment, which later proved to be a waste of opportunity as it turned out the very person they were searching was there all along.
Inside the General's manor, HeiYing had reported the night's event. It was only up to part of the HuaLou, when General Murong's veins on his forehead throbbed and his face black. General Murong's face worsened when he heard about the Xue 9th prince about to be attacked.
"This subordinate already send men to check but the men said when the reached the scene, it was cleaned up without any bodies," HeiYing informed the General, skipping out about the mysterious watchers. He did not want to worry the general about the others until he had more information, and moreover, these other worldly beings usually did not involve themselves.
After dismissing HeiYing, MuRong XieChu called YuQing to bring Murong LiWang into his study and scolded his precious daughter for going to improper places and told her to reflect and repent by writing womanly scriptures in front of her mother's tablet in the family's Ancenstor Hall. When he heard her muttering that she did not even get to see or hear anything inside the HuaLou, Yu Qing with a red face had to drag the small girl out, before the General say anything he would regret later.
Murong XieChu looked out of the window of his study, the spring night was windy, and he wearily took off his armor. He sat down while he thought about what HeiYing said about the mysterious followers with better martial skills than theirs, that they could not find a trace of the followers. Murong XieChu then looked at the royal invitation on his table. It was only few days away and earlier today, after the court, the emperor had called him in to discuss about arranging a future marriage with LiEr with one of the princesses.
He had tried hard to compose himself, and claimed embarrassingly that his heir was had a strange disease that affected his face and body, and he was not worthy to be mentioned in front of the emperor. The emperor benevolently replied that as parents, they would only want the best interest for their children, why not for Murong heir attend the banquet and mingle with the other royal children. General Murong could only give an affirmation of attendance and thank the emperor for his wisdom.
Could it be that the royal secret guards were the ones following LiEr? General Murong thought grimly when he recalled what HeiYing has reported to him earlier.
