Bab 16: Adventurer (2)
After chatting a while with Bernard, we waiting for the adventurer. After roughly one hour waiting, the first customer comes. They buy some low potions and left immediately. So they aren't who we looking for. Many adventurers later come to Robert's shop, but they're not related to our business.
I trust Bernard to find a suitable adventurer who killing to buy my magic stone. Since then he never mentioned that. So the adventurer who we looking for doesn't come yet.
Then when a group adventurer comes to our shop, Bernard's expression changes. I immediately to observe the party.
Two men and one woman. It seems they're around 17-18 years old. The boy has blonde spiky hair and green eyes. The other one has reddish wavy hair and brown eyes. The girl has straight long blue hair, with brown eyes. They wear a casual outfit, so I don't know they're an adventure at first glance.
"Excuse me, sir, we want some potion as usual."
So they're a frequent customer.
"Got it."
After handing over the potion to them, Bernard begins to chat casually with them.
"By the way, are you guys still want to get the promotion?"
"Of course we are. Isn't that our purpose to clear the dungeon? We still C rank adventurer because we haven't cleared any dungeon !!"
The red boy answered.
So they are C rank adventurer.
"So how were your progress?"
"Ugh, we still stuck on the 4th floor. We usually run out of mana and wounded to go to the 5th floor. Our weapon is not in good condition either. After being used to kill a lot of monsters, they lost their sharpness."
The blonde-haired boy answered.
"I see, so do you have a solution to that problem?"
"Maybe we need a Support Role to buff us, and heal us."
The girl answer.
"But usually they will become dead weight too, the Support Role who can fight is very rare you know."
The blonde hair argues the girl's opinion.

"Really?!!!"

"You hear that. So it makes a deal. If you're lose, you will buy this kid's magic stones. If he loses, I will give you free potions. How about it?
I see, so Bernard doesn't fully trust me.
He proposes a duel to test my ability.
And make the magic stone as the deal. So I can't run away.
He is quite cunning huh.
"Okay, I accept it. Your name Vin right? If you can't continue just say it okay."
The blonde buy is a gentle type, isn't it?
"Okay. But where we do the test?"
"This shop has a back yard. For now, I will close the shop."
After putting a close sign, we go to the back yard following Bernard.
"Let's decide the rule."
"Okay."
"First, you will fight 1 vs 1 and all weapon allowed. You can use magic too, but don't destroy everything."
"I got it."
"We get it too."
"So decide who will fight."
"I will fight."
The blonde buy speak.
"Yeah, I think Alan is suitable to fight, his role is Assaulter unlike Jack and me."
"Cindy's role is Magician so she doesn't familiar with sword and Jack is a Defender, so the best he can do is defend himself."
So the blonde guy is Alan (Assaulter), Cindy the Magician Girl, and Jack (Defender) red-haired guy.
After taking some distance, Alan and I staring at each other. Surely I am on disadvantage because I fight with just one eye vision and my body is shorter than him.
I can't pull dirty tricks like kick his crotch too, because it will ruin my image. I can't kill him either. So basically my knowledge from my previous life is can't be fully used. Because of the knowledge I have is to KILL.So basically I will aim a vital point of the target. But right now isn't a situation killing each other. So I need to hold back and find a way to make me win without bloodshed.
I pulled my katana and readied myself.
"Here I come !!!"
Alan shouted and dashed toward me while swinging his sword. His body apparently uses buff too from his Role. I can see his body glowed with a red aura. When his sword meets my sword, I feel the pressure is very hard. It seems our strength is on a different dimension. I block all his attacks and do various feint attacks, but always fail. He seems to know where my attack will come and block it perfectly. I can't always parry his sword too much because it will waste my energy. So rather than blocking his attack, I start to evade it. From the start, I already use Physical Enhancement and Acceleration. So I can barely match him.
I save my energy to deal the finishing blow until then I only can evade. Alan looks at me with surprise, but he smiles at me. Apparently, he knows, that I want to waste his energy, so he stops his attacks.
We stare at each other for now, no one makes a move.
"I didn't think you managed to evade all my attack."
"Thank you"
He grins. From what I see, he likes me, because he found someone who has the same caliber as himself. He has no ill will, just pure desire to have a rival.
From his word earlier, he still doesn't approve of me, so he wants to continue this little duel.
The longer we stay, the more complicated it will become. Because now already afternoon, so the sun is very hot. So I decided to move first.
I run with a zig-zag pattern to confuse him. If I charge straight to him, he will know where will I go, and attack my weak point. If I go with a zig-zag pattern, at least he can't determine where I will attack him. When the time comes, I lift my katana and use it reflect Sunlight right into his eyes. He immediately loses focus and blocks his vision with his hand.
At that time, I gathered all my strength to knock the sword at his hand. His sword comes flying after met my katana. He loses his focus due to unexpected events and loses his grip.
Even after his sword fly, I can't let him do anything, so I point my katana on his neck.
After a few moments, he finally aware of what happens and dumbfounded.
"I lose huh? But what is that trick??!!"
"Secret."
"What happens, Alan? You suddenly stopping in the middle of the fight."
Cindy asks him.
"I don't know, but suddenly I felt a strong light hit my eyes and I can't see for a moment."
"But I don't see him saying any chant before. How do you do it?"
Cindy ask me.
"Uhh, you see, I just reflect sunlight with my katana to your eyes. When you see a bright light, you will lose your vision for a moment. But it very dangerous if you hit by the sunlight frequently. So I apologies for my behavior."
"I see. Your fighting technique is unique."
Alan praises me. But I feel bad to use such a trick. I hope his eyes don't hurt.
"That's because I used to be live on the outside, so I must learn how to use anything for survival."
"Now, how is your opinion?"
Bernard asks them.
"I think he is a capable fighter. I can see how he evades my attack. And above all, he knows how to use his skill to fight." (Alan)
"I agree too. He can defeat Alan, who older than him, with those conditions, he really good." (Cindy)
"I think he passes too. (Jack)
