"What do you want?" He Lanjin said as she grabbed Qiao Hanye's wrist. She opened her eyes and looked at him unhappily.

"Oh," Qiao Hanye said in his magnetic voice. "Is Ah Jin awake now?" He sounded dotingly affectionate, as if He Lanjin were a willful little princess who had him wrapped around her finger.

He Lanjin gently moved Qiao Hanye's hand away from her face and asked, "What were you trying to do just now?"

Instead of answering, Qiao Hanye threw the question back. "What was it that you wanted me to do?" He Lanjin's face flushed a deep red. She straightened up on the bed, trying to keep some distance from him.

Qiao Hanye extended his arm to touch He Lanjin's forehead. "Fortunately, the fever has subsided. Still, the temperature in the mountain area is lower than the temperature outside. You must take care of yourself."

He pulled the blanket up and covered He Lanjin with it.

Qiao Hanye started to get up, but He Lanjin grabbed the corner of his shirt. He took her hand and said, "He's fine. He's been sent to the hospital."

He Lanjin looked at Qiao Hanye's earnest face and laughed softly. "Yes, sir."

No one had ever given her this much importance before, not even the He family, who made her feel as if she did not matter. She would not be surprised if they would not even mourn her death if she died.

"Let me wash up a bit before I check out the situation outside," He Lanjin said, changing the topic. She did not want to be too vulnerable in front of Qiao Hanye.

She jumped off the bed and sprinted barefoot. Afraid that the sudden movement would cause her to fall, Qiao Hanye extended his arms to break He Lanjin's fall.
