If he was not interested in her, he would simply fade away or ghost her, right? But what was this slow creeping into her heart. It had to be something.

"Why would he say that?" Lily said with a peculiar expression on her face. Her eyes flickered to the television where Cage's face was still splattered across the screen with a grim expression.

"Maybe his emergency has finally averted," she shrugged, not thinking much of it.
