Bab 19: Chapter 19.From the ashes
"Reaper's Law!!!"
The white like dissipated and Hiro saw he was still intact and alive.
"Did he miss?"
Hiro looked up to see Griamore destroyed. The place where the castle had once stood was a pile of rubble and every building,shop, and elf created think was gone. The remaining elves in the kingdom were unharmed. The prince looked around to see a destroyed kindgom.
"What happened.....to....my...kingdom???"
"I destroyed it."
Sasuna sees the aura of his father and is struck speechless by his anger.
"Why did you spare that thing and destroy everything we built?"
"Our kingdom has been filled with hate,corruption, a belief that they're better than others. You all have forgotten why Griamore was founded. All the pain you have caused and all the destruction for your own ambitions sickens me. This kind of greed is what killed my father! If I was in this lad's position I would have done the same thing and rightfully so. Was what you gained worth all you have lost? You have lost your heart. You're now left with nothing no kingdom nor a title. I disown you leave my sight!"
"Father.....I....."
"If I sense you in my presence again I'll kill you where you stand. From my perspective you're the monster not this boy."
Sasuna stumbles running off and runs away into the forest. Hiro is stunned by the actions of the Elven king.
"You would destroy your own kingdom? But why?Aren't you on their side?"
"I am the King I'm on the side of what is just. This is my kingdom whether I choose to destroy it or save it is up to my own discretion. I apologise for my actions I was hasty and attacked you without knowing the full story. For that I deeply apologise."
Sora bows down before Hiro.
"Please forgive the actions of my kingdom I hold myself responsible for this. If it would please you can may have my life as compensation. But please spare my remaining citizens."
Hiro is confused and sees the rest of the elves bowing down in the king's example. He's confused by this and is conflicted after seeing a different side of the elves.
"My kingdom has lost it's way and perhaps it's entirely my fault. I don't expect you to understand. However, direct your anger towards me and not my kingdom I beg of you."
"Why would I spare the monsters that would slaughter thousands just because you asked me?"
"The reason they are so powerful is my fault and mine alone. About 700 years ago after establishing Griamore and a Temple to Athena I had asked the goddess to grant the elves more magic and she agreed that she'd divide my magic amongst my people. But in order to do that I would need to be in a constant state of rest. My magic has been going into all of the elves. I only awoke after so many that had took a majority of my magic died. So as you can see any suffering you have endured is directly and indirectly because of me."
Hiro was angry but immediately calmed down after seeing such a genuine and kind soul.
"You were able to give all the elves magic right?"
"Yes."
"If you want to make things better then, I want you to do the opposite of that"
"You mean drain the magic of the elves?"
"Yes,permanently."
"In theory I could do that but it would leave my people more or less defenseless in essence basically human."
"Good, what a most fitting punishment for them to get perspective."
Hiro remembers a conversation with Theo during training.
"I know you want to take the magic of those whom have wronged you but would you also make those suffer whom have not? Magic Sealing Art 3 :Excruciating Paralysis makes the recipient suffer from a painful paralysis for thirty day and forcibly seals their magic. It tears the magic from their very being and stores it locking it away with no way of accessing it."
"I want those who made me suffer to suffer. But not every demihuman is guilty."
"There is another way other than the sealing arts to take away magic temporary."
"Why would I do that?"
"It's more or less permanent without causing suffering. You can create an enchantment that seals away magic until a condition made by you is met. It could be impossible to achieve or realistic the choice is yours.The difference is this kind of magic can work on a large scale but require and equals amount of magic. It's called "Enchantment Magic Sealing"."
Hiro is back in the present and contemplating his options.
"As much as I wanted revenge against all the elves responsible sealing up every single one's magic would take too long. But with you I have an idea. "
"What do you have in mind?"
"Sealing enchantment magic!"
"Resetting the elves to zero without magic? "
"Yes,but with two conditions."
"And those conditions are what exactly?"
"Simple. Condition 1: Until the elves can truly understand the pain of humanity and become genuinely compassionate their magic will be sealed. Condition 2: If anyone tells the elves about condition 1 or they find out the requirements to fulfil condition and try to communicate it in anyway there magic will never be unable to be unsealed."
"That means it's possible for an elf and their descendants to lose the ability to use magic forever."
"Genius isn't it? Only those with good hearts will be able to use magic."
Sora closes his eyes and takes a deep breath.
"A thousand years ago the high bloodied elves were almost destroyed because of lack of magic. Now we're at the same point but because of too much magic. Perhaps magic has never been the problem that brought all of this full circle. I only realise the weigh of my fathers words from long ago.He was right. Very well the only way to really change the world is to change the hearts of those in it."
"I don't know about that. I'm really just being selfish .I don't want more people like me running around destroying everything it'll be a problem for me."
Sora laughs and smiles.
"Very well! To be able to live the way you want you need to strength to force it to go the way of your will."
Sora raises his hand and focuses magic into it.
"I ,Sora Egalhearth, King of the High Bloodied Elves invoke royal magic! Until the heart of my people can change to truly fell the pain of those they hurt may no magic flow through their veins."
