"So Cecile, you want to test my ambition of becoming the VC by using our plan B," I asked Cecile.
"Plan B? Cecile, Wilson, both of you haven't told me about this yet?" Maria said from her desk.
We were having a meeting at Maria's classroom. The other students already headed to the duel arena, but we were still in the class. Our turn in the duel was the last and against Kira.
"Kira is going to rent mercs, but how strong are they?" I said as Maria packed her book.
"I don't know, but can we bring the tank?" Cecile asked me.
"Hmm... The rules don't say that we can't.so why not?" Garth said.
"A tank? Might as well annex the entire town then," I said sarcastically while flipping my Glock 18.
"Haha, that's true. The battle mechs won't be used, right?" Garth left the room, followed by us from behind.
"Hmm... maybe," I closed the classroom doors.
We walked out of our classroom and headed to the council building. From there we went to Natalie's office. We put our arsenal there after all. For this duel, we standardized our weapon, so it's similar.
"Hmm, so everyone brings three weapons," Maria said as she put in the black combat shirt.
"Yup, everyone brings three weapons. One on back, one on hip, and one on the holster," I said as I put on the full body level V ballistic armor on my body.
"We are the weirdest looking one, aren't we?" Cecile said as she looked at herself in the mirror.
We wore a black combat uniform with the skull balaclava. On top of it, we wore a full-body level V ballistic armor with its arm protector and legs protector with a tactical rig.
We also put the AN/PRC 148 on the back of the rig. On our back was a Barrett M82A3 and an HK416 at our hip. In our holster, there was a Glock 18. We also wore a ballistic helmet with headphones on it.
"Is it necessary that we used the skulls loadout?" Maria asked me.
"Yup, the uniform will drop down the morale," I said to her.
"Are we going to wear this too?" Garth said as he grabbed a pair of exoskeleton legs.
"Yup, increasing our mobility is very crucial on this duel," I said as I put the exoskeleton on my legs.
"All set, let's go," Cecile said from as she left the room, followed by us.
Everyone glared at us the moment we left the building. Some of them saw us with fear while the others saw us with hate. Nobody would mess with the skulls, not even the guards. They were agile and deadly.
We entered the arena and headed for the spectator seats. The other moved away as soon as they saw us. We sat there while the other students were glaring at us and started to whisper a lot of things.
With the help of directional microphones on the scope of my rifle, I could hear what were the others talking about. Just aim it at the target, and you can listen to it.
Senior 1: "Who are those black clothes, people?"
Senior 2: "I don't know, but from the rumors that I heard, they are Anton's
hit squad."
Senior 1: "Anton? The one that is missing?"
Senior 2: "Yes, that Anton that went missing. Honestly, I smell something fishy."
I aimed my rifle at another direction and heard what our friends have to say from the archery club.
Benjamin: "Those are the ones that shot us, aren't they?"
Zara: "Yeah, Anton's goons."
Amy: "I wonder where he is."
Benjamin: "He is missing, and there isn't anything that we can do for them."
I aimed my rifle at Kira and her team members and heard what they have to say.
Kira: "Where are that Bastard Maria and her goons?"
Servant 1: "Probably running away your royal highness."
Servant 2: "Yes, your royal highness. She is sending Anton's goons instead."
Kira: "Hmm... The skulls."
Merc 1: "Don't worry, little queen. You got the best merc in town to cover your backs."
I put the rifle on the hip and watched the match between the first candidate. The matches were overseen by Eliza.
"Did you heard what Kira was saying?" Maria asked me.
"Yup, those ignorant fools are never facing the ex-legendary mercenary," I said to her.
"Nobody realized that we are the skulls though whiskey," Cecile said to me using my callsign.
"So... What is your fortè on this match?" Garth asked me as he stood up and laid down his hand on the magic barrier.
"My opinion? This match will be useless if I am serious," I said as I pointed my hands at our principal.
"I know, even a battalion would be enough to take over Costellia," Cecile said.
The students that were winning the match were allowed to continue to the next round. Kira was automatically dragged to the final since she is a princess.
We must fight our way to the final. With two Su-35S squadrons on stand by and an experimental weapon in our arsenal, nothing could stop us.
"Well, it's our turn now," I said as I stood up from the chair.
I stood up from the chair and head to the prep room. In that room, I see the usual things; Sword and stuff.
Our opponent was looking at us with a grudge on their minds. They looked at us like they were looking at junk.
"The skulls, eh? We will beat you down," their boss said.
We replied with full silence, and then Eliza welcomed us to the arena. The students were cheering for the opponents and wooing for us.
We kept our cool since we knew that if we broke the magic barrier. The students will be turned into chaos again.
"This is a match between Maria Juliana and Brandon Smith," she shouted.
Not much known about Brandon. He was just a member of the student council, and that's all. Maria was too lazy to spit out the detail. He was accompanied by two armored knights in their horse and a female mage behind him.
After that announcement, the face of fear and disgust changed into a grimace of surprise.
Eliza shouted from the top of the podium, "Let the battle begin."
The knight charged toward us, and we split into multiple directions. Thanks to our exoskeleton, we could outrun the horses. Even the exoskeleton gave us an ability to walk on the wall.
"Hey, Brandon, you want me to finish this quickly or shall I play with you longer, hahaha," I said as I ran on the wall while shooting my rifle randomly.
"Wilson, you bastard," he said as he shot five arrows in my direction.
The arrow missed by a margin since he wasn't that good of a marksman. I threw a flashbang in their direction.
Wilson: "Team, let's tie the loose end."
Cecile: "Charlie Copy."
Garth: "Golf copy."
Maria: "Mike copy."
In a fast momentum, we all head to Brandon's team and put them all down. Thanks to the power of the exoskeleton, we manage to kick the horses, and the knights fell down.
We tied them up with cable ties and aimed our HK416 at them. For the intimidating purpose, we shot the magic barrier with a .50 cal full metal jacket, thus putting a crack on it.
"Wow, the winner is Maria Alexson with the record time of four minutes and twenty-second," Eliza said so sudden.
The whole crowd applauded to us. I hope we don't attract too much attention.
