"Indeed, you understand me the most. You always know what I have in mind."
He lifted her in his arms, placing her onto the bed and lying beside her with one arm still holding her. "Of course I understand you the most. Aren't I your better half?"
She snuggled herself even deeper into his warm and comforting embrace "More like a worm in my stomach." she laughed.
He smiled as he pinched her neck playfully "To be a worm in your stomach, how nice would that be.... I would never leave no matter how hard you try to make me leave."
"I'd never want you to leave." she replied.
The two of them chatted for a while longer before her eyes started drooping slowly.
Although he really loved watching such moments, he was afraid he might lose control especially now that they were together again.
" I'll make an appointment with the hospital, we can go in the morning. I'll go to my room now, goodnight my love." he kissed her lips tightly and got up.
Wan Jia's originally drooping eyes instantly became clear and alert. She held onto his arm stubbonly. "Don't go... just sleep next to me."
Her voice was slightly raspy probably due to her sleepiness and terribly alluring.
Lu Aotian rubbed his forehead helplessly. "Should I take that as an invitation?"
He knew that wasn't what she meant but such words were enough to light up a huge fire in the pit of his stomach.
"You corrupt hooligan! I didn't say 'come to bed and do some corrupt activities'. I only want you to hold me for a little longer." she looked up at him with pleading eyes.
Even if he wanted to say no, he wouldn't bear to faced with such beautiful begging eyes.
In the end, he lifted the quilt and lay back down with her. As for the so called corrupt activities, although they had already done it years ago, the couple silently agreed to wait until they were really legally married.
.....
The next morning, they woke up a bit early and went straight to the hospital.
Since Lu Aotian had already sent a message of his visit beforehand, the hospital's security measures were trippled and the whole place was quiet with no obvious trace of activity.
Little Jia was taken into a VIP hospital room and laid on the bed. Wan Jia and Lu Aotian were asked to temporarily remain outside and a nurse came in to take her blood sample. Looking at the adorable bundle of cuteness on the bed, her heart was filled with warmth as she envied her parents.
She did not even know how to coax her. "Little girl, let auntie take your blood sample, okay? This might not feel very pleasant but it's important for you to feel better."
Little Jia neither agreed nor refused so the nurse cautiously went up to draw a blood sample. The next second, Little Jia looked miserable and huge drops of tears rolled down her soft little cheeks. She had thought that she was a very good and obedient girl. Why was this auntie poking her hands with painful sharp objects?
...
After a long torturous wait, the test results were finally presented to them.
"Her health is quite good and her body is especially strong. The incident from last night was purely out of fatigue. Her vitals....." the female doctor explained the results to them in detail before turning to Wan Jia.
"May I ask why you especially thought that her immunity would be weak?"
Wan Jia briefly glanced at Lu Aotian before answering. "Well....in the first trimester, I wasn't really taking good care of my body, I was diagonised with mild signs of depression and the doctor suggested that I have an abortion but I insisted on keeping it.
The consequence was that the chances of giving birth to a preterm baby or even losing it altogether were quite high."
"So it's because you know that many preterm babies have low immunity?" Wan Jia nodded. The female doctor finally understood.
"That's not always the case. In actual fact most babies born at seven or eight months that I've come across are really healthy. It all depends on how you take care of it before and after it's born. However, if the two of you plan to have other children, you should be more careful and attentive especially in the first three months. That's normally the most delicate time and it must be your luck from eight lifetimes to not have lost your daughter." she kindly explained.
Wan Jia felt relieved. Not only did the doctor's words relieve her fears, she also didn't scold her unlike she imagined. After all she was quite careless with her baby in the first four months...
"Thank you doctor," she finally said.
After being given a few vitamin supplements for Little Jia and lots of advice in case they planned to have other children, the family of three happily left the hospital.
"Daddy, daddy! can Little Jia buy some chocolate?" the little girl was finally lively again and jumped right into her father's arms.
Although she was already perfectly fine when she woke up in the morning, she was brought to the hospital right after she finnished her breakfast. The sight of many people in white running tests on her made her unhappy. Especially that auntie with a cap on her head. She pierced her hands with those very painful sharp objects.....Just what had she done wrong to provoke her?
