Bab 5: Huang Da and Huang Bo
"Is this Nodan spirit academy?"
"Uhh... yeah."
Wu Yu scanned the two brothers intensely, trying to figure them out, there was no way the two didn't have any differences aside from their names. The two brothers started to feel uncomfortable as Wu Yu was scanning them from head to toe so they spoke out, "um excuse me, we feel very uncomfortable with the way you are looking at us, can you stop?"
Seeing as the two brothers weren't very keen on his prying eyes, Wu Yu felt embarrassed and scratched his neck. "Sorry about that, it's just, the two of you are way too similar and my curiosity got the better of me."
The two looked at each other then shrugged, "Nah, no hard feelings, we get admirers like you all the time, so what do you think? good looking aren't we?"
Wu Yu was stunned, at first when he heard them speak, he thought it was just a coincidence and their words ended up matching perfectly. Now, they did it again, almost as if they were reading it off the same script. Curiously Wu Yu suspiciously asked, "you two planned this didn't you? how can you say the same exact thing, word for word at the same time?"
Shrugging once again the brothers said, "don't know, our parents said we have a special connection."
"Okay, then is there anything different about you guys?" Wu Yu didn't know how to differentiate between the two and asked.
Immediately the two pointed to each other and said, "Yeah, he's dumb, rude, and stubborn also left/right handed! also, I'm better looking!"
"What? why would you describe yourself then portray yourself as me?"
Amused by the two brothers antics, Wu Yu couldn't help but chuckle, he found these two brothers to be quite fun to hang out with, with the two of them around, no place in the world would be boring. Wu Yu kept watching as the two brothers flamed each other and learned many things about them when they started to stray away from his question and wandered into some personal things about their lives.
Wu Yu learned many things about the two brothers from their argument, a few of them quite funny like how Huang Da, the left handed brother has quite the knack for finding trouble, basically a trouble magnet. On the other other hand, the right handed brother was the final piece of the puzzle to complete the trouble making duo, the instigator, trigger, and cause of the problems, Huang Bo.
Seeing as the argument wouldn't end anytime soon, Wu Yu took the initiative to end their argument, "Sorry guys, though I would like to stick around a bit longer, it's getting late and I'm getting tired so I'll be heading off, see you guys around!"
Huang Da and Huang Bo snapped out of their argument as soon as they heard Wu Yu. They had completely forgot about him in their little quibble and also lost track of time. Of course, this seems to happen quite frequently to them as the look on their faces said it all.
Before Wu Yu was about to walk off the two brothers quickly stopped him, "Ah wait, could we trouble you with helping us find the main office?" The two held up their letters then continued, "we need to register as students."
Wu Yu didn't see any problems with helping these two so he agreed to help them, he knew well how evil this school was with directions so he personally guided them there. Along the way the two asked Wu Yu some personal questions. Seeing as he heard a lot about them, it was only kind to repriciate the gesture.
"My name's Wu Yu, a working student here, I also come from a village but it wasn't as kind as yours... the village didn't treat me well after my parents died so I cut off ties with them after my spirit awakening ceremony... wait, actually, there is one last, really annoying fly I have yet to kill, hope it doesn't fly away before I get back."
Even though Wu Yu seemed quite blunt and cold towards strangers, it was only a front to protect himself from outside threats. This is what he learned in his two lives of living in poverty with threats all around him, showing any signs of weakness gets you killed faster, talk too much and being indecisive will only lead to you being taken advantage of.
This however was different for people he trusted or cares about, he was almost the complete opposite of himself. Unfortunately not very many people got to witness this side of him, there were only five people he ever showed this side to in his life, his parents of both worlds and Shugo Tenshi, his partner.
Surprisingly, Wu Yu also opened up to the two brothers who he had only met today and for a couple of minutes. Even Wu Yu himself was quite surprised by his sudden change, sure, he had good feelings towards the two brothers but was that enough to get him to open up?
He wasn't sure but for some reason he felt like he could trust these two, it just felt... right. Weather it was their childish charm or their innocence to the cruel world they lived in, Wu Yu felt quite jeleous of them. He glanced at them as they started bickering with each other all over again and thought, 'how great would it be if I had siblings like them to support me back then, maybe I wouldn't have turned out like this.'
Before they knew it, they had already arrived at the main office. The two brothers thanked Wu Yu for bringing them here then walked in to get registered. Wu Yu looked at them one last time then turned around and went back to his dorm quietly, meeting the two brothers had triggered some fond memories of his other life.
Getting back into his dorm, Wu Yu was too mentally tired to think about anything anymore and started undressing. He wanted to take a bath to freshen up, each dorm room was equiped with one bathroom each. Walking into the bathroom he saw three showerheads and one big bath of warm water in the back.
Wu Yu didn't think too much and slowly entered the big pool of water, letting out an unconscious moan of pleasure. He leaned back against the bath walls and relaxed for the first time in forever, no thoughts, no worries, and no problems. He was sure, he could've fallen asleep in the bath but knew it wasn't a good idea, lest he wanted drown in his sleep.
After soaking in the bath for a good amount of time, Wu Yu decided it was time he had gotten out. Rinsing himself with the showers he left the bathroom with no clothes on believing he was in the dorm alone. Walking out in his birthday suit, Wu Yu strolled towards his room half sleepy, unknown to him however, there was a girl sitting on living room couch with a bag of chips in her hand.
The girl was the same girl that Wu Yu had missed earlier in the day when his stomach started grumbling. She had come out of her room shortly after Wu Yu had entered the bath, she was getting a little hungry and wanted something to eat. Leaving the dorm, she had come back with a bag of chips shortly after Wu Yu had left the bath and started showering.
She didn't however feel like going back into her room so she decided to stay in the living room space for awhile. Opening her bag of chips she was ready to dig in but the sudden sound of a door opening stopped her. She turned around and saw a scene she wasn't accustomed to, causing her face to turn a slightly pink hue.
Unaware of anything at the moment, Wu Yu just walked into his room, shut the door and collapsed onto his bed and fell asleep. Outside in the living room, the girl just looked at Wu Yu's door unsure of what to do or think. Unfortunately for her, the same scene would loop in her head over and over again causing her a long and sleepless night.
Early the next morning, Wu Yu woke up feeling a little groggy as he rubbed his eyes. This was one of the best nights of sleep he had ever had, the bed was comfy and soft unlike the cold, hard ground in his previous home. Getting out of bed, he looked into the cabinet and found some clothes, it was mostly the same clothes the academy provided for students, a blue uniform.
Having nothing else to wear, Wu Yu had no choice but to put them on, even though he didn't like the design very much. Today he had much work to do, first he had to find the job he wanted then actually get the job, later he would have to back to the school to talk to the head master about getting his first ring.
Walking out of his room, he noticed someone on the living room couch, quietly sleeping with an open bag of chips on her chest and crumbs all over her face. Wu Yu looked at her and felt sorry for her for some strange reason he couldn't understand and thought silently to himself, 'poor girl, she must've had a rough day yesterday.'
He didn't think much about her after that and walked passed her but when he was about to leave he suddenly had a change of mind. He walked back to the girl and took the bag of chips off of her and placed it on the table, he then went into his room and took a spare blanket and covered her with it. As for the crumbs on her face? well... she can take care of it when she wakes up herself.
Feeling satisfied, Wu Yu then left the room to go do his own stuff. Heading out of the academy, Wu Yu arrived at the courtyard where a few people loitered around here and there but nothing really worth mentioning. Not paying any more mind to the minute details, Wu Yu headed towards the school gate where he saw a familiar scene.
The very same block head guard that had blocked him from entering the school yesterday didn't seem to learn his lesson from the day before. He was blocking an old man in a wierd get up and a child from entering saying almost the same exact thing he said to Wu Yu before.
Though Wu Yu wouldn't usually get involved with scenes like these, the guard really got on his nerves. Striding up to the three, Wu Yu kicked kicked the guard from behind causing him to stumble and fall to the ground. Just as the guard turned and was about to lash out at Wu Yu, he immediately shut his mouth, "Bas..."
"I told you I won't forget about yesterday right?" Wu Yu looked at the guard with contempt.
Remembering the day before when Wu Yu summoned his Qilin, the guard started to shake, "please, I'm only doing my job, I'm sorry for offending you the day before, I was foolish!"
"Foolish? you sure it's only that? your brain must be filled with mush, offending everyone you see!" Wu Yu didn't have any of it, he knew a prick when he saw one and this guard was a hard core prick.
Picking up the letter that the old man had given to the guard but then was thrown to the ground like his, Wu Yu scanned it's contents. For a brief moment Wu Yu was surprised and glanced at the child that was with the old man but immediately turned his attention back to the guard.
Slapping the letter into the guards face, Wu Yu asked him, "Take a good look at this letter? tell me, which part of it looks fake?"
The guard trembled then kowtowed to Wu Yu begging for forgiveness, "I'm sorry, I don't know what was wrong with me, my eyes must've played tricks on me!"
"Really? your eyes? get the f*** out of here before I beat your ass and don't bother coming back here tomorrow and start finding a new job!" Wu Yu was really pissed off by this man and didn't want to talk to him anymore, it was only wasting his precious time.
The guard wanted to say something but when he saw Wu Yu's glare he quickly ran away. Wu Yu watched the guard run off with an expression of disgust then turned to the old man and child. He glanced at the child who made him feel a little uncomfortable but then looked at the old man.
"Here's your letter back, when you head into the school take two lefts, one right, go up the first flight of stairs, take another right, one more left, then one last right and you'll find the main office, you can register there."
"Ah, thank you young man, my name Jack and this little one is Tang San, I hope the two of you can get along and be friends." Jack was a little overwhelmed with Wu Yu's instructions but still cupped his fist and bowed to Wu Yu.
Wu Yu once again glanced at Tang San then nodded, "nice to meet you, my name is Wu Yu."
Tang San in turn also said his greetings, "My name is Tang San, thank you for your help."
