Bab 67: Planning Site seeing at New Delhi
"I think we will have an early dinner and sleep early tonight as I we all are suffering from a little jet lag," Dada ji remarked all of a sudden.
"I have ordered dinner in the room tonight as I don't think anyone is in the mood to get ready and go to the hall on the ground floor for dinner?" Dada ji remarked all of a sudden. He had actually not asked anyone but ordered dinner through room service.
"Yes Dada ji we are all still tired, I think an early dinner and a short walk and sleep would do us all good.' Tania replied and added, "we do need to be rested for our site seeing expedition tomorrow."
"Yes, Nikita and I also agree to that, as we are still in the flight mode," responded Mira and added, "My ears are still catching the sound of the engines of the plane."
"Sir, I have just arrived and still having Jet lag. So an early night and a good sleep would be the right thing." Igor added his agreement to an early dinner and an early sleep.
Soon it was 8 p.m. and dinner arrived. After partaking of a sumptuous dinner, all bid good night and Tania, Nani ji and Igor Uncle left Dada ji and Dadi ji's room and headed to their own rooms. Nani ji and Tania bid Igor Uncle good night and entered the adjacent room. Igor went further ahead to enter his room.
Igor sat down and changed into his night clothes and at the same time he was in a very thought mood. After coming to India, he was changing. He was becoming remorseful regarding all the ills that he had committed till date and now he wanted to be a normal happy person.
It was indeed after a very long time that he had sat down and enjoyed himself. He had been tension free about the people he owed money too.
Actually, since his coming to Russia with his Mom, he had been quite happy and after reaching India, he had become remorseful. Is this what the air of this country did to people? Make them face their karma?
But he knew that he had to do the work he had to do. It was too late now for him to change. His hands were soiled with the murder of his sister and her husband, though he had not done it himself.
The truck driver was responsibe. He never wanted his sister or her husband dead. He just wanted to scare them. The driver had consumed a lot of Vodka and in that intoxicated state he had run his truck into them instead of driving them off the road.
It was an accident. He had undoubtedly been upset at his sister marrying an Indian.
But no one would believe him as he was a mean person and had been like that since childhood. He now wished that he had walked the path his parents had guided him to take rather than being adamant and taking a wrong path.
But he knew that his past would catch up with him, even if he tried to change into a new leaf.
Early morning Dada ji called everyone to be ready fast and come down for breakfast at 8 am sharp. Around 9 a.m. they would be proceeding on a site seeing trip to see the main monuments in Delhi.
At 8 am sharp everyone assembled in the hall to have breakfast. Nani ji and Igor uncle had a continental breakfast but Dada ji, Dadi ji and Tania took paneer parantha with vegetable curd and mango pickle. Tania was enjoying the Indian Cusine and she would be eating Indian food only, while in India but would ensure not to eat too many spicy things.
Dada ji was sharing the plans for visiting various tourist spots.
"Certain places will take a whole day like Akshardham temple and then National Museum, Science Museum, Pragrati Maidan etc. These places we can visit on our return journey," he said.
For the present we will visit India Gate and the newly built War Memorial nearby. On the way we will pass by the Parliament House, and see the Rastrapati Bhavan from the outside as well as the North Block and the South Block. We cannot stay long there as it is not allowed. On route you will be able to see the Reserve Bank building as well as the market area of Janpath and the Connaught Place. If you want to visit the underground market in C.P. called Palika Bazar, we can manage but it is advisable not to go there. We will see Bangla Sahib and maybe participate in the langar (open kitchen). We can visit the house where Indira Gandhi lived as Prime Minister. It is now a museum.
After that we will proceed to Red Fort, Chandani Chowk, Jain Mandir, Shish Ganj Gurudwara as well as Raj Ghat. Here we will visit the famous Faluda Kulfi shop and the Parantha wali Gali.
On the way there you can see the outside of the Doll museum and the National Museum.
We will be pass by the Science Museum and the Purana Quila as well as Pragrati Maidan where countries from all over the world exhibit their products. But all places require a full day each to visit. Lodhi Gardan, and Sanjay Gandhi Park as well as Nehru Park are other such place where you can take long walks but visits here cannot be covered in one day. So we will ensure ample days to visit these places on our return journey.
From here we will proceed to South Delhi via South Avenue, Shanti Path (which houses most of the embassies), passing the Nehru planaterium within the Jawaharlal Nehru complex (Trimurti Bhavan) now being turned into a museum for all artifacts etc of all previous prime ministers. We we will also pass the statues being led by the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. We will head for the Lotus Temple or the Bhai Temple as well as the oldest Kailash temple nearby. After that we can visit Haus Khas or the Lajpat nagar market, or the up market of South Extension/Defence Colony. Such markets are there in Rohini as well as Rajouri Garden and Patel Nagar but if we want to buy good and affordable stuff then Sarojini Nagar Market is the best.
The Nadi Astrologers are in the Central Market of Lajpat Nagar, but again you need time to visit them, they can tell your present and future as well as your past and past life from palm leaves, on which sages recorded their thoughts, thousands of years ago.These palm leaves are well preserved till date. In present scientific terms it means they downloaded your DNA of the present life, past lives and future lives on these palm leaves.
Tania was listening with great interest and exclaimed in excitement,"Dada ji, I want to visit the Nadi Astrologers tomorrow. Please adjust schedule to accomodate this visit."
"We can visit markets tomorrow, after our visit to the Nadi Astrologers,"she added.
