"For the upcoming project, you'll be arranged in pairs, and everyone will be paired with their seatmates," The teacher announced.
At the teacher's words, the murmurs could be heard from the classmates. Some were groaning and complaining on how unfair it was for teachers to pair up like this while the other's remained silent.
"I don't think they would bother checking out projects."
"Yeah, it's pretty obvious that only Miyeon and Soobin are going to get an A*."
"It's unfair to pair up two brains together."
"Exactly, everyone is aware both of them got into the school with the highest number, not allowing a chance for scholarship students to apply."
Miyeon was quite used to chats like this. Her brain was her only strong point in the world where she had nothing other than her mother. From a very young age, she was aware that her status is only temporary.
"Silence! This project will be marked fairly, and if anyone is not confident in their abilities, I would suggest to use you time to study other than gossipping," The teacher stated.
"The project will be on writing at least four page description on any historical monuments of South Korea, including it's importance. It should be as detailed and as creative as possible. Questions regarding your chosen topic will be asked, so make sure to do it on your own. The time limit for this is three days. Since it's the first project, I'm going easy on you."
No answers were given by the students. Although the topic was quite simple, there weren't many students that were interested in the history of South Korea, and being the children of influential families, they were used to having their projects done using their money.
However, this time seeing that the teacher will be asking questions, they had to use their own efforts, and researching on the matter and writing four page on this within three days is no joke. Many could only dream of passing on this one.
It was a week since Miyeon became seatmates with Soobin. However, due to his imposing aura, Miyeon couldn't break the ice between them.
Usually, Miyeon came off as a friendly person who easily managed to mingle with people, but with Soobin, it was hard for her to ask him anything. The male's aloofness made her feel like he's going to gobble her up the moment she opens up her mouth.
Seeing that he wasn't taking the initiative to start a conversation with her, she could only bite the bullet and be one to talk first.
"Hey," Miyeon spoke out with her voice coming out to be awkward. "I'm Miyeon?"
"Hmm," Soobin replied.
Listening to Soobin's response, Miyeon found herself back to square one, and she was wrecking her brain on thinking about the next sentence to say to the male to keep the conversation ongoing.
Miyeon rarely found herself unable to continue a conversation with someone, and it appeared that Soobin was a rare case.
"About the project, where do you want to do it?" Miyeon asked— internally happy that her voice didn't come out to be squeaky.
"At the library," Soobin answered briefly.

The ringtone from her phone woke Miyeon up, and she recalled of the dream she just had. The dream was regarding Soobin and her— probably— first conversation.
Having such a dream made her shake her head; it seemed that he had been on her mind too much due to their recent meetings.
Before checking the caller ID, Miyeon picked up the call while letting out a small yawn. After that scandal earlier, she felt too tired to do anything.
"I can't believe that you're cheating on me!" A voice exclaimed from the other side of the phone, and she recognized that voice to be of Minjae.
"What do you mean?" Miyeon asked— confused by Minjae's words although that boy tend to spout out nonsense most of the times.
"Are you pretending to be oblivious now? After accepting date me, you're in a relationship with someone younger than you, and that too, Min Taejoon. Don't tell me that because you can not get Soobin, you're trying to be close with Taejoon," Minjae vocalised— his voice holding rage.
"Aren't you misunderstanding something? I agreed to go on a date with you and not dating you. Moreover, you seriously think I'd stoop so low to date someone like Taejoon? Geez! What's wrong with you?" Miyeon said, shaking her head, while her voice was laced with disappointment.
"I have a pride to consider although it's one date. So, what's with his post?"
"What post?" Miyeon asked with her voice expressing her ignorance.
"Check on his Instagram, and you'll understand about it."
"I'll do that."
So, how was this chapter? I'd appreciate to know if there are any ways I can improve
