Bab 21: Greed Island
{Ren POV}
Gene was injured during the fight. It was nothing major as the referee tried to end the match quickly so as to avoid excessive damage. Hisoka himself held back a lot but one could see a massive smile on his face when he saw how much Gene grew. Once the match was over, I healed Gene immediately. Hisoka challenged me to a fight once we exited Heaven's Arena only to get one punched again…
"We have done what we came to do so what now?" I asked as we roamed around the city. "I'm going home for a few days… You all can come along if you want." Offered Gene. "Sure! That'll be fun! After all, It is quite a beautiful place!" said Freya.
Gene- "You have been to whale island?"
"Yes, we were there sightseeing, passing time for the hunter exam registration to begin," I said recalling the time we had spent over there. "So Kile, how about it?" I asked. "Sure."
{Time Skip}
{Whale Island}
Gene was guiding us through the forest to her house. As we approached her house, one could see a maiden in her late twenties hanging the clothes out to dry. "AUNT MITO!!!" yelled gene as she ran towards her with a joyous expression. "Gene?!" said Mito surprised and delighted to see that her niece was back safely. She saw a bunch of people near Gene which she assumed were Gene's friends. She greeted us as we introduced ourselves. She invited us into the house. Mito was hurriedly walking around the house preparing a meal, "You should have told me you were coming! I don't have anything ready!" said Mito to which gene just said "It's Fine…" as she scratched the back of her head.
Mito- "No it's not you, you have brought your friends over! AND you haven't called once since you passed!! I was worried."
At this, Gene could only smile wryly. "Is she always like this" whispered Freya. "Ya, pretty much…"
We freshened up and came down to the dining table to eat. The food was delicious. I usually can't stand fish but this was outstanding. We just talked about stories from the hunter exam and stuff like that while eating. The next day, Mito gave Gene a box that Ging had left behind and asked Mito to give it to Gene when she becomes a hunter. It was a sturdy, cubical box. Gene and Kile tried to open it no no avail until I suggested, "Try applying your nen on It, after all, your dad did ask Mito to give it to you once you become a hunter." Once gene applied her nen, the box opened up effortlessly.
The box opened up. There was a memory card, a ring and a cassette tape inside it. First, we decide to play the tape. The tape was a message to gene from Ging and a challenge for her to try and find him. It was also an apology for leaving her. The tape erased itself once the message finished playing. "Gene, I have an idea of where your dad is-" I say as she interrupts me and says, "DOOOONT! I wanna try and find him on my own." I just smile seeing her determination.
The memory card was basically a save for this game called greed island, a game exclusively for hunters. Its launch price was 5.8 Billion! Apparently, there were only a hundred units sold!
We visited a hunter website to get more info on greed island. There was a fee of 20 million for information on greed island which we easily paid for with our winnings in Heaven's Arena. It was a game made by nen users. In this game, you were transported into the world of Greed Island. If you died in the game, you died in real life. You couldn't leave the game unless you find a save point. Apparently many people had already died already trying to finish the game. There was gonna be an auction in Yorknew in some time. This was perfect as Yorknew was the place we had decided to meet up with Kurapika and Leorio. Even the timing was perfect.
We stayed at Gene's place for a few more days until we left for Yorknew.
