Women don't need any proof to claim rape too. But it wasn't enough. Even if you may prove that she didn't think that something like rape happen at the time, she has a lot of time to reconsider. To reconsider!
May men reconsider and claim rape in a few days case they didn't like the sex, suffered some minor injures in its course and so on? The very concept...
And USA isn't homogeneous. Right, there are places - and there are places again. Even in the same town. Look at the local birthrates. Less than two children per family means men don't have a lot of rights for some years here. More than 3 children in family - women don't have a lot of rights here.

FINALLY - WHAT IS WRONG WITH AMERICANS
A bit of real equal rights here.
A lot of men suffered even in the old fashion societies. With all the laws to help you and all the men around to support you... you should be brave and firm enough just to ask for help. It wasn't easy at all - for a man in macho kind of society. Moreover, it isn't enough to be physically strong to actually practice regular wife beating. Even as the strict self-protection measure. Even in the society that supports you.
The Law in USA doesn't support men any more. The public opinion changed too. It just took some years. A decade or two.
Do you have men's suffrage? What's the statistics? How many american men are regularly beaten and|or otherwise degraded?
While, when you demand more efficient women's suffrage would you call it "equal rights" still?
You know, in Pakistan, where it's really women's suffrage that's lacking men's life expectancy is bigger, than women's? Do you have an equal life expectancy in the first world? I don't think so! The inequity robs the men years of their lives. Well, it did in the old fashioned militant societies too. But now it hold true even when the war losses aren't big enough to take into account...
