The early morning was warm, the grass was still wet and the birds chirped as they began their daily routine.
"Alright! Let's get going." Gyll said ready to venture off into the dark forest.
"Somebody has to stay and keep the supplies safe," Razyl said.
Everyone just looked at Razyl, who understood that he'd be the on to say.
"Oh...I see...I'll just...hang out here I guess." Razyl said trying to sound happy.
"Great, let's go!" Gyll said as he marched off, Mi followed him giving Razyl a thumbs up, Kaber just patted Razyl on the shoulder and let too.
As the group followed the map down a muddy path, deep into the forest which seemed to be located in a large basin, many streams fed into it turning the forest into more of a swamp at ground level.
"So who do you think dropped the map?" Kaber asked.
"I don't know, but what's the worst thing that can happen from following a random map blindly," Gyll replied.
The group walked slowly in silence for a bit before Gyll turned one hundred and eighty degrees, "I just taught of at least ten horrible things, let's go back." Gyll cried.
"We went this far, we have to keep going," Kaber replied, grabbing Gyll by the collar and dragging him forward.
"Stop being such a coward!" Kaber demanded, "What's the worst thing that- I mean, the chances of us getting hurt are.. I-" Kaber stumbled over his words.
"What he's trying to say is that we can't go back right now," Mi said.
"Yes, exactly! We can't go back now, for that would cost us our honour!" Kaber exclaimed.
"What I meant is that your arguing attracted just about every beast in our area, and they're following us." Mi corrected Kaber.
"Yes, that's what I m-" Kaber stopped mid-sentence, before turning back and seeing a massive Spore Fiend.
It's hunched body was covered in luminous pink sores and its many orifices oozed pink slime. It has an unproportionally large upper torso and leet and arms as thick as tree trunks.
It's giant jaw hung loosely open revealing rows upon rows of sharp needle-like teeth each wiggling slightly.
Its skin was like that of a cross between a dried fruit, leather and moss.
It must have been at least five meters tall and three meters wide.
Gyll stood perfectly still, "Kaber, please tell me there's nothing scary behind us..." Gyll pleaded.
"N-no, it's just...extremely intimidating," Kaber replied.
Kaber picked Gyll up, holding him under his arm, and started sprinting down the path, Mi followed behind.
"Mi, can you kill it?" Gyll asked,
"Not without bathing the local area in position spores and slime..." Mi replied.
"LOOK OUT!" Kaber yelled as the group fell down a cliff into the darkness.
The sound of splashing water awoke Kaber.
Kaber sat up in shock, checking his surroundings.
Kaber was in what looked like a ravine, the bottom was coated in moss, the lower part of the revine was filled with water from what looked like a waterfall, the water was clear and the smooth stones were clearly visible.
The canopy covering the mouth of the ravine let in rays of light.
Kaber turned to look for the others,
Gyll was sleeping in what looked like a bush, on Gyll's face was what looked like a moustache and monocle drawn with mud. Mi was sitting next to him looking rather bored.
"Is he alright?" Kaber asked placing him and on the source of the throbbing pain he just noticed, he must have hit his head hard.
"Yeah, he's just really enjoying his bush-nap," Mi replied.
Kaber stood up and walked up to Gyll, lightly slapping him on the cheek,
"Hey, human," Kaber said quietly. "Human!" Kaber said louder now.
Gyll opened his eyes.
"HUMAN!" Kaber yelled.
"Wha-" Gyll began but was silenced by a smack from Kaber.
"I think he's up," Mi said, looking at Kaber.
Gyll rubbed his cheek which was bright red now, "Ah, man. That was unnecessary!" Gyll complained.
"Is my face alright?" Gyll asked taking his hand off his face.
Kaber glanced at Mi who placed a finger on her lips gesturing him not to tell Gyll about the 'mud-stache'.
Kaber sighed and said, "It's perfectly normal, Human! For a human that is!"
Kaber laughed nervously.
"Well, guess we should look for a way out of here," Gyll suggested, he glanced at the map, only to discover that the 'X' was very close.
"Alright, turns out we might have saved a few hours thanks to our vertical descent," Gyll explained.
"Are you saying we're close?" Kaber asked.
"Actually, I never said we're close... But we are close!" Gyll exclaimed.
The group walked for about twenty minutes, noticing that the ravine is getting wider,
"Almost here!" Gyll cheered.
"I wonder what it is..." Kaber wandered.
"Hey look! A cave!" Gyll cheered, as he rushed towards the cave.
"Wait, Human no- ugh." Kaber sighed before running after Gyll, Mi followed.
The cave was small, and decently well lit by the light from outside, in the middle of the cave was a table with what looked like a glove or gauntlet on it. Gyll was instantly captivated by the item.
The glove looked like it was made from thick leather, with red gems embedded in a circle on the middle of the palm.
As Mi walked into the cave Gyll was already reaching for the glove,
"What the hell is this?" Gyll asked, somewhat frustrated by the idea of almost dying for a glove.
"Maybe they're magical!" Kaber suggested.
"Magical?" Mi questioned, her eyes widened and as she leapt towards Gyll to stop him from putting it on, but she was too late, Gyll burst into a bright red flame, the explosion shot Kaber out of the cave and onto the moss covered rocks outside.
Mi looked at the red hue radiating off Gyll, and the figure standing next to him.
"That asshole." Mi thought to herself.
