Bab 2: The First Sail - Shamelessly Stick with Nami
After sailing for a week, he didn't meet any one or saw any islands. He just sailing, admired the boundless sea and the sky, fart, pee, ate raw fish meat, trained his body by swimming and killing the sea monsters, and sleep.
"It's so boring..." he lamented. Jo really regret did not ask a beautiful companion to accompany him in the sea.
He was typical youth. As his life was virgin and boring enough, he really carved for beautiful women. He also has a dream to make harem and took by force or not the beauty he met. He was healthy youth after all. After sailing without any direction, he decided to take Nami as his future ship operator/navigator. Her sense of direction and weather instinct were the best. He really didn't give any damn with future Luffy crews. Jo was selfish man and would be selfish man in the future.
Suddenly he felt strong present under the sea. It was not the normal sea monsters, but a lot stronger. His spirit immediately lit up and jumped to the sea. He didn't want to see his raft destroyed after he punched the sea monster. Entering the sea, Jo saw snake head like monster. It was very scary for his previous world. But for current him, it was cute as black pink artists. It was meat, delicious meat delivered in to him by heaven!
The monster approached him in fast pace. And when it wanted to bite him, Jo propelled fort with his kick. It was similar to moon walk of CP 9, but used in the sea. It was very useful skill and help him greatly when he battles in the sea water. The monster enraged after missed the prey. Before it could find Jo, Jo had already propelled beside it head and punched it with his armament haki. It was one punch death. He immediately ripped the most delicious part and brought it to the raft. The rest? It was his gift to the sea. He still had a principle to share a little amount of his wealth. It was for good karma. And good karma would protect him from bad luck. He really believed in that.
He immediately paddled the raft to evade the strong sea monsters. If it was just one, that was good. But if it were one hundred? It was calamity. He sailed and occasionally eat the raw meat as snack. If not for the beauty of sea, Jo surely become crazy from solitude.
Day by day, he finally arrived at the first island. The village was look very gloomy and lifeless. When he saw a person wear brown clothes and toy wheel on his cap, Jo instantly knew that he was inside Arlong territory, Coco Village, Conomi Island. He didn't want to be found by Arlong crews and evaded not necessarily troubled. He sneakily entered the village and saw orange haired girl get scolded as traitor from village people.
Jo smiled. He really admired Nami strong will and desire. She sacrificed her youth as thief for his village freedom. And the village people secretly play along. After they cased Nami, Nami back to Arlong place and not long after, she set sail to search some treasures.
"She is really good girl."
Jo immediately ran back to his raft and sailed to her path. He wanted to create a situation that she would help him. Like gallant beauty save handsome in distress. Of course, it was impossible. He would shamelessly stick to her leg. Nami was a genuine a miser after all.
On the raft, he used his observation haki and could see her ship. He immediately cleared up his food and started to behave like a survivor from pirates raid. Slowly, Nami small boat approached his raft. But suddenly her boat changed direction.
"..."
Sigh, she was really a miser. Jo laughed weakly and peddled his raft to her ship. She wanted or not, Jo would stick to her. Arrived in front of her ship, Jo immediately jumped to her ship before she could say anything.
"Hey! Who are you?! What are you doing?!!" Nami shouted at him.
In the anime, Nami was a great beauty. But looking by his own eyes made him mesmerized. He still remembered her first trademark clothes. It was very similar, white shirt with blue horizontal stripes and yellow mini skirt. Really nostalgia.
Looking at silent man, Nami became more annoyed. She wanted to angry at him, but Jo said very unexpected thing.
"If you give me food, I will help you in your jobs." Jo said.
"Huh, what can you do? Are you know who I am?" Nami asked in annoyance.
"Nah, who doesn't know the legendary Cat Burglar, Nami?" Jo asked with 'the fact' expression.
Nami felt in silence. The average man in front of her was mysterious yet good looking. More than that, he knew who she was!
"Then, are you want to catch me?" Nami asked in serious tone.
"Nope. In fact, I want you to be my crew. I need genuine navigator like you. But let stick in previous deal. Give me foods and I will help you. And I know about your circumstances. Trust me, just one billion berry is a easy for me." Jo said confidently.
After hesitating for a while, she finally asked, "Are you a pirate?"
"No. I'm not." Jo answered flatly.
After they did a handshake, they restarted their journey. After together with Nami, Jo became lazy bum and did nothing except sleep. Occasionally when they needed foods, Jo jumped to the sea and caught some fish.
"If you are really that strong, why not hunt pirates for bounty? It will very profitable." Nami commented to lazy yet strong Jo.
"Nah, it's not like I don't want to hunt some pirates. But I never meet one of them." Jo lamented. It was true that he never met any pirates or bandits in the sea.
After several days, they approached an island.
"We have arrived at Yotsuba Island. We will rob the marine fort and take treasures from the marine." Nami briefly explained their next job.
"Hm, my intuition said that our operation will be failed." Jo said with lazy expression.
"What did you say?!" She asked with high pitch tone.
"It's just an intuition, just an intuition." Jo explained hastily.
"Hmph! Let's go!" Nami angrily said to him.
After Jo knocked several marines off, he and Nami used their uniform to sneak in the marine Ford. When they entered the marine fort, Jo saw the ax hand captain that wanted to erect his own statue as his symbol. He also has only one lame son that spoiled by him. Gazing at the field, he also saw legendary zoro, the three style samurai. Basically Jo had already forgotten almost all storyline details. He only vaguely remembered some main arch.
Suddenly he felt someone on the corridor and immediately lifted Nami into nearby room.
"Sstt! There are several marine there. We need to hide first. And don't worry, I will guide you to the treasure room." Nami finally stopped her struggle after heard his explanation.
When she heard several men walked through the room, she looked Jo with wide eyes.
"Jo, how did you do that? Teach me please!" she said that excitedly and with sparking eyes.
"Nah, it's not like I refuse to teach you. But the process is really painful. Maybe I will consider to teach you after we clean up Arlong Palace in your home village." He said with helpless tone.
After a brief silent, Nami looked at Jo and asked, "How do you know about me and Arlong?"
"Oh, I am actually your mother friend. I was a mere brat that time and your mother entered the marine." Jo bullshit was his top notch skill.
"Huh? Are you joking with me?" Nami asked with disbelief expression.
"Hm, just consider my words as bullshit. Let's go to captain room. Maybe we can steal his wealth." he said nonchalantly and opened the door.
Nami became more sure that his word was true after hearing his nonchalant answer. After thinking about it, a glint ray appeared on her eyes. Then she ran following him to the captain room.
After searching for a while, finally Nami found the safe box on the wall. When they stuffed the gold and berry to the bag, two clown suddenly entered from the window. Jo immediately jumped to their front and killed them in flash.
"They are buggy clown crew. The pirates. Let's go and find their den. We will rob them and catch the pirates." Jo said to Nami who still happy with the haul.
"Right, let's go." Nami nodded.
As same as before, with Jo observation haki, they could escape from the marine fort without anyone catches their glimpse.
After they entered the sea again with buggy crew ship, Nami asked to Jo, "Why we didn't search the other room? The lame captain son maybe have good treasure!"
"Ah, no. Inside his room, only have three katanas. Those katanas are the pirate hunter Zoro possession. Don't touch it, or he will hunt you." Jo answered.
