Bab 38: LEGACY OF WORLD WAR II
Jack has just finish his lunch. The lunch menu is simple, it's just instant noodles, come from Jack's secret ration. He has the full rack with instant noodles box in the warehouse. Since a box contains 48 packs, a box will be enough.
Jack taught Schifa how to cook instant noodles. And she passed in her first try.
Everyone love those unknown food. Meyrlin even have his second portion.
When the cleaning time comes, Mya complains about recycle bin. So Jack decide to a find a solution.
" There should be a good place around here for recycling wasted material or junks," Jack thought. "I got to find it."
There is a small forest in the backyard, and Jack think it is an interesting place to search for the solution.
It was his first time Jack has a free time to explore his new surrounding. So he was rather excited. He even took Myerlion to accompanying him.
There were many unexplored area around the facility. Especially at the backyard.
It took an hour to walk around the backyard. Many building ruin scattered around. Those ruin came from Earth, just like Jack.
Some plant even implanted to the ground as if something moved it on along with its root.
There were a lot of holes here and there, due the incident.
Some are big enough to trap a drunken elephant. Let alone to trap a reckless man like Jack.
So be it.
Jack was fallen into a hole succesfully.
Meyrlion exploded his laughter mercilessly, watching those scene.
While Jack was non-stopping cursed.
Tha holes were large enough to accommodate a pair of newly wedding elephant.
With emotionally hate, Jack kicked the wall of the hole as hard as he can.
Smack!
But later the sound produced made him dumbfound. " That was not the right sound of the soil being kicked," Jack tought.
He kicked another side of the wall.
Smack !
" Hey, Bro ! I think there were another holes behind this hole."
Meyrlion was still trying to stop his laughter. And he decided to jump down the hole, tagging along with Jack.
Jack sneered into Meyrlion smile.
" What? What you have found?" Meyrlion asked him while forcefully suppress his smile.
Jack pointed his finger into a wall. "I think there is a room behind this wall."
Jus to make sure that nothing would go wrong, Meyrlion used his stone magic and transform his right fist into a big hammer. He hit the wall of the hole.
Bruk!
Land collapsed. Instantly the big hole opened.
" It's looks like a man made, Jack !"
" Yes, But beware of the trap, Bro."
However, Jack did not immediately confirm the contents of the cave.
" Let me check it out first." Jack said while ignite a fire using his match. " I'm afraid there are animals, poison gas, or dangerous objects in the cave.."
It blaze goes well until Jack feels his thumb burned.
"I felt it is safe."
"How can you be so sure, while you are falling into the hole which bigger than your body?" Meyrlion laughed again.
Jack sneered at him. "Fine, I'll test with a living being."
A poor mountain rat become Jack's guinea pig. It was captured by Jack hands while trying to eat fallen fruit on the ground.
Jack bind it using plant root and force it to go in the new hole.
He made his come back after ten minutes without any negative indication.
"Now I believe it is safe, Bro." Jack said while exhaling a relief breath.
" Let's get inside"
Meyrlion and Jack dared to examine the condition of the cave that resembled the tunnel.
The culverts have a height of 3 meters with a width of about 1.5 meters. With a muddy base, a tunnel filled with water as high as a person.
Inside the cave, after passing 50 meters, there is a tunnel-shaped entrance. The cave widened and there was room to hold a meeting. At the top of the hall, it consists of a mixture of sand and stone. Meanwhile, the edge of the cave can be used to rest.
" Like I said before, this was a man made, Jack!" Meyrlion said breaking the silence. "And not even came from Iocyania culture.."
Jack still keep silence. He was busy analizying everything.
He saw if at first glance from the outside, the cave looks branched. But it is not. The cave shrinks about 200 meters from the first point. The end of the cave was covered with sand debris and allegedly penetrated across the banks of the mountain river.
"It looked like landslides, the tunnel end here, it was closed," he said.
Jack was still curious, along with Meyrlion, then drained the water that inundated the cave with a pump.
"I'll try to drain the water, Jack. See if we found something new."
Dziing.
Meyrlion's casted his water magic and it simply pull the water into nowhere.
Dozen of mice were frightened and jump out of the hole.
"Fuck !" Jack cursed frightened.
"What a lame, Jack !" Meyrlion laughed.
Myerlion also cast an earth magic to get rid of the landslides. Soon, another continuation of the tunnel appeared.
Myerlion magical light illuminated all corners of the tunnels. Both of them could see how large the tunnel behind.
Far in the end of the tunnel, they found a large room which had dozen door.
Jack could identify the first room at the center. This building, which is estimated to have an area of 30 x 20 meters, spreading stench stinks for both of them.
The room was square in shape and full with a scribbling on the wall. On the ground floor there is an empty room connecting to the basement.
" Judging from the remains ruin, I guess this was a kitchen to massacre the enemy.."
" What do you mean, Jack ?"
" You are right about this is not come from Vajya culture, Bro. This is from my world, taken along with my lab through those incident of the time and space."
" Yes, of course, but what do you mean by `kitchen-to- massacre-the-enemy`, Jack?"
Jack pointed his finger into the scrabbling on the wall.
"That's the answer.."
Meyrlion widened his eyes. "Tell me what's that mean ?"
" I can not read it, Bro!"
Meyrlion sneered at him, "Then how can you sure about the answer ?"
Jack laughed "I believe it was written in hiragana."
" I do not understand." Meyrlion sneered again.
" Then let's confirm into another room. Follow me, Bro."

An hour later, after both of them exploring each room.

Jack had identified 21 rooms they had found. There were used to be functioned as an army barracks, courtroom, command room, ambush door, escape door, to the slaughter kitchen. There was also a storage room for collecting human bones.
" Tell me what's on your mind, Bro" Jack smiled.
" I guess we have just found an abandoned underground fortress. I could see some war room and any other facilities suit for battle preparation."
"Correct!" Jack answer. "You just have been visiting the legacy of World War II of the Earth. This was the underground defence build by a nation who try to conquer South-East-Asia during those war period."
