Bab 10: Choices
Klirrrr. The window shattered and turned into small pieces at the floor. Josh crept in the broken window and looked around in the apartment. It was dark, dusty and silent. Josh decided to be silent after smashing the window and was careful to not make any unnecessary noises. He decided to barricade the door first, so that he would have time to run if necessary. He looked around, and found a table, a bookshelf and a chair. He decided to use the bookshelf since it was heavier and would last longer than the table. He tried to push the bookshelf, but it didn't move. He didn't want to waste time, so he decided to just use the table. He put one edge of the table against the door, and the other against the wall.
After that he started to loot the bedroom, living room and kitchen. He found out it was a man who lived there because of the smell of sweat, sperm and alcohol. And If that wasn't enough, he found a huge stash of porno magazines all over the living room. He shuddered when he imagined what the owner of the apartment did in the rooms. He continued to loot and found a revolver, a small box with 20 bullets, a backpack, some canned food, a beef knife and an aluminium bat. He put the revolver in his pocket, together with a few bullets, put the knife away and decided to use the bat at close quarters and to break in to other apartments, because his hand was still sore after punching it and he would like to have a car or bike to leave the urban area.
Bang! The sound came from someone, or something banging on the door. Josh guess it wasn't the owner of the apartment, since he would at least try using the key. Josh looked over what he had gathered, just to be sure he didn't leave anything, and walked towards the window. The banging from the door didn't subside, but just got stronger, and Josh could see that the door started to be smashed and break apart. While he was walking towards the window, the broken glass made some crunching noises and cut into his feet. Josh cussed out in a whisper: "God dammit"! The banging noise from the door grew more intense, like whatever it was had heard him. Josh didn't care about silence anymore and crept out the window. When he looked down, he saw a sea of people. Wait, he shouldn't call the people since many of them had big holes in their body, or that an arm was torn off. They all moaned and looked towards him.
At the same time the door to the apartment was broken through, and he saw a giant of a man/Zombie walking in and sniffing the air, like a dog. It hen turned against the window, where it saw Josh. It made a guttural moan and ran towards him. Josh was hesitating, should he climb the stairs to the next apartment, should he use the revolver to kill it, the bat to smash the person`s head or should he hope that the zombie was to big to get through the window. Sadly, he didn't have much time and he saw that the creatures below him was starting to get agitated. He decided to bet at a chance, took the revolver, pointed it at the creature in the window and pulled the trigger. BANG! The creature staggered a few steps back, and had a bloody hole in its shoulder, but it didn't seem to mind it, if anything, it was angry now.
