Bab 5: Chapter 4: Search and Rescue?
{Raven's POV}
???: "All I've been hearing from you is panting. Get up, I will not have a weak pupil!"
I quickly get up and jump high into the air raising my left arm.
???: "That's the spirit!"
A giant fireball forms above my hand, I throw it down to Sakura, my master, she began to laugh and simply faced it head-on. She brought up her hand and the fireball stopped, the impact of my attack burned the grass around her but it didn't explode yet. It was being held back, she's crazy to face it head on. I land and sprint to her, she threw my giant fireball back at me and snapped her fingers creating another one above me. I jump at a 60 degree angle to get in between them both, one was behind me and the other was below me.
The one behind me grazed my foot but in that instant I absorb the other below me and put it all into my left fist, striking master Sakura. With a grin on her face she quickly brought up her hand and we clashed. Our clashing blows created a big explosion that pushed me back, rolling uncontrollably. My back hit a tree near the waterfall. I look forward and see the flames from our clash. Did I actually win? Probably not..
I see a human figure walking out of the fire,
Sakura: "Impressive, I actually felt that last attack."
I should have known that wouldn't be enough. She faced my strongest attack head on and she's perfectly fine, meanwhile I'm struggling to even get up here.
Sakura manipulated the fire around her and enveloped all of it to cover her entire right arm. Still struggling to get up I clench my fist to prepare myself.
Sakura: "It's over kid"
She dashes toward me like a bullet, after that everything went black.
"None of this should be possible but after witnessing it with my own eyes I'd say your daughter is definitely the source of it all."
"What's worse is that we have no information on this supreme one the demons keep talking about."
"Keep your voices down you two, remember we're on th-"
"WATCH OUT!"
Suddenly I wake up on my bed. Last thing I remember was sparring with master Sakura, I guess I passed out? I get off my bed to change my clothes and do my hair. I look into the mirror near the door, feeling comfy and pretty I pick up my clothes from the floor and throw them on my bed.
I go downstairs to the kitchen, I see mommy eating breakfast. Immediately when she saw me she stopped whatever she was doing.
Tenma: "Raven Yukimura, the sparkling snowbird finally awakens from her slumber. Attack!"
I heard my big sister yelling sneak attack above me so I simply hop forward to avoid her from catching me. She face plants the floor,
Yuzu: "You didn't... need to dodge."
I tap her head repeatedly,
Raven: "I didn't but I did, sorry big sis."
Mommy's arms were suddenly wrapped around me. She gave me a surprise hug while I was distracted by yuzu.
Tenma: "Just give in and be smothered by our love you adorable little snowbird."
While mommy is hugging me Yuzu got up to tickle me. I try to hold in my laughter but I couldn't, I gave out instantly.
Yuzu: "Revenge for dodging me."
Raven: "okay okay I give in just stop tickling me!"
After a few seconds of laughing Yuzu stopped tickling me and joins in on the hug. I felt their soft skin on my cheeks as they were smothering me with their love. Seconds later they both move away,
Tenma: "There is something we need to tell you Raven."
Yuzu: "She just woke up mom, we shouldn't do this now."
They went from looking happy to serious.
Tenma: "We can't postpone this any longer Yuzu."
Yuzu: "I know but..."
Raven: "What's going on mommy?"
She crouched down and squeezes my left cheek
Tenma: "My little snowbird... Me and your sister were given a job by King Kazuto. We are to go to another world on a search and rescue mission."
Raven: "Another world?"
Yuzu: "Yep weird right"
Raven: "Totally, how long will this mission take?"
Tenma: "That's the thing we don't know sweetie for all we know this could take more than 6 months."
Raven: "But that's what you said last time and you were gone for a year."
Tenma: "I know I know but don't you worry because this time yuzu is coming with me and we're both super strong. We'll be back home faster then expected."
Raven: "Promise?"
Tenma: "No because it could take longer then a year this time."
Raven: "Ouch"
Yuzu: "Really mom?"
Tenma: "Joking, I was joking. I promise you sweetie we'll be back here in no time okay."
I giggle and smile slightly,
Raven: "okay but since yuzu won't be here this time who will look after me?"
Tenma: "One of the strongest knights in the kingdom, Erza Natsukawa. She's a good friend of mine so you better behave yourself."
I pout and tell her I would behave. She hugs me and kisses my forehead. She then got up and went to the living room.
Yuzu: "Since we still have time let's play some games."
I jump onto big sis's back as soon as she said those words.
Raven: "To the study!"
She then ran to the study almost tripping at least two times. We spent the next hour playing board games. In total we have played twenty games and I only won three. We have played three different board games and I won only in connect four. Yuzu has to be cheating somehow.
The doorbell went off, yuzu went to answer the door while I put the board games away. When I finished I went to the door myself to see who rang the bell. When I got there I saw an unfamiliar woman speaking with mommy and big sis. I walk to them and hide behind mommy.
Raven: "Mommy who is this?"
Tenma: "This is the good friend I mentioned earlier."
Erza: "Hey there little one, it's nice to finally meet you. I've heard many good things about you from your mother.
I stood in silence still hiding behind mommy to avoid eye contact.
Tenma: "She's shy at first but within a few days she'll begin to open up to you."
Erza: "Of course"
Raven: "Mommy please be careful."
Tenma: "I will sweetie, me and yuzu have to go now, behave yourself while we're away."
I nod and back away from her. Yuzu gave me a pat on the head and kisses my forehead.
Yuzu: "Bye bye for now, I love you little sister."
Soon after that they both leave the house. I gave Ms. Natsukawa a tour around my home.
Erza: "Your home is lovely, it's quite big as well."
Raven: ....
Erza: "Uh.. so.. what would you like to eat, I may not look it but I'm a great cook."
Raven: ....
Erza: "I'll go settle in before anything, just.. please don't leave the house without asking okay?"
I nodded and grab her hand, I brought her to mommy's room, she put her bag on the dresser. Just before I left Ms. Natsukawa told me she will cook lunch in an hour. I nodded and walk downstairs to the study.
{Tenma's POV}
I can't believe the king is asking me to go on a quest now of all times, to another world too. I need to stay and observe Raven's growth. Arms suddenly wrap around me from behind while I was thinking.
Yuzu: "It's okay Tenma, I know being separated worries you since I'll be going with you this time but don't worry, my little sister won't lose control. I made sure something like 4 years ago won't happen again."
I grasp her arms and embrace her hug,
Tenma: "I believe you but anything can happen while we're away which is why we need to finish this mission as quickly as possible. Still though thanks for the positive reassurance Yuzu."
Yuzu: "Anytime mom"
The giant door before us split open to show King Kazuto with four of his elite personal guards. Me and Yuzu bow,
Tenma: "We have arrived your highness."
Kazuto: "Please, no formalities needed. As I have mentioned before you don't have to be so formal. Just Kazuto is fine."
Tenma: "Oh right, my apologies Kazuto.
Yuzu: "So how goes running the kingdom Kaz?"
Kazuto: "Busy as always. How is your younger sister doing with her studies, my subordinates tell me she is now learning spells from the ifrit grimoire."
Yuzu: "Her studies are going great, Raven is a quick learner when devoted. She recently learned how to temporarily infuse fire into both of her hands without my guidance. I wouldn't be surprised if by the time me and mom return she will be learning levitation or terrain manipulation."
Kazuto: "I'm glad to hear her studies are progressing well and have no worry while you two are away. Erza will make sure she is safe, no harm shall come to your little sister. Now then, Klein, Carla, give them their weapons and equipment."
K&C: "Understood my Lord."
The two knights gave us duffel bags with our equipment inside. As we gear up the king stood up from his throne and walk toward me.
Kazuto: "Tenma hold out your hand."
Weird request but I did what he asked,
Tenma: "sure."
I brought up my left hand, the king held my fingers gently and kisses my hand. A symbol appears on the top of my hand,
Tenma: "what is this?"
Kazuto: "Your only way of returning home."
Tenma: "Oh okay"
Kazuto: "To use it you will need to concentrate and infuse your magic power to it. You won't need to put much.
Tenma: "Understood"
He snapped his fingers and a white circle began to glow behind him.
Kazuto: "Step into light, it will teleport you to the open portal underground. Once you two go through the portal it will close. Be careful out there."
I nod, both me and yuzu step into the light. Two guards were standing in front of the gate of the portal. They open the gate,
Guard 1&2: "best of luck you two."
T&Y: "Thanks"
We walk pass them and enter the portal.
Yuzu: "What the hell, we're really in another world!?"
Tenma: "No time to be surprised. Remember the description of who we're looking for?"
Yuzu: "Yes"
Tenma: "Good let's go"
Yuzu: "Before we go, I want to know why you told Raven we were going on a rescue mission when it's clearly not."
Tenma: "I can't tell her we're here to capture someone, then we'll look like bad people in her eyes."
Yuzu: "That's true, I guess this time you can't tell her what you're really doing."
Tenma: "Nope, now let's go."
