He was alone in the cold night, although the full moon served as the perfect companion. It was quite while still helping to illuminate the crumbling road he had chosen to follow. The name he had was a painful reminder of the people who had used to call him by it, Hotaka. That was the name which he had been given, although most people who saw him nowadays greeted him as "The dead man", he thought it was a more fitting name for him.
His long coal colored hair danced slightly with the small gusts of wind which occasionally came and relaxed his mind. He needed those gusts of wind too help him cool his nerves and rest his silver coloured eyes who were on the lookout for any potential danger. He was headed to a farm on the countryside and his objective was to kill the farmer who resided there. She was one of the four people who had betrayed him and taken everything he had ever cared about from him. The only weapon he carried was his trusted katana, other than that he had no other weapons to defend himself with from any danger lurking in the forest.
He was getting sleepy and decided that it was time to rest. A big oak tree fit his needs perfectly and he sat down, putting his back against the trunk. He put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a white piece of silk cloth, he fest his eyes on it in order to remind himself why he was doing all of this. He clenched his fist around the cloth and his mouth made a faint smile but his eyes did not follow suit and became full with sadness and sorrow. It worried him that without this piece of silk he would lose his way and just wander aimlessly without a purpose in life. He did not care for his life, the only thing keeping him going was his quest for vengeance. This was an irrational journey he was going on and he realized that himself but even knowing that, he could not think of anything else to do with a life he didn't value anymore.
He put the cloth back in his pocket and went to sleep. His final thoughts were of the warm green tea she used to make for him and her before they went to bed and of the chimney which they would watch together with the tea in hand. He had also always loved the white silk dresses she would often wear and they too came to mind while he was dozing off.
The sun rise gave the whole sky an orange color and the few clouds floating around also became orange with an yellow outline. The birds had begun singing and he was slowly starting to wake up. "It sure is a beautiful scenery..." he told himself and got on his feet. He looked around to see if anything had changed during the night but nothing major seemed to have happened. He returned to the forest road and continued his walk.
It was in the afternoon and he was finally on the countryside. Currently he was following a gravel road which went through multiple different fields. He had passed a lot of farmers along the way and some of them had even greeted him but luckily no one had seemed to recognize him. It wasn't that long ago that he had just lived alone and quietly in a cabin by the river. But ever since he had heard rumors about the whereabouts of the "Red Viper" which was the name the population had given his old companion "Aiko Tsubasa", he had started his quest for revenge. She was one of the five assassins who had once been wanted throughout the entire country, he had also once been one of those five but that was six years ago know. He had retired and so had she but not before killing the person he had cared about the most in this world.
Later in the evening he had finally arrived at his destination. Before him was a small field with a lot of different crops planted on it. No one was outside on the field so he slowly started to walk towards the small house opposite of him. He could here how the gravel beneath his foot crumbled for every step he took and the sun which was setting behind him highlighted his silhouette as he slowly but confidently approached the house. The wind was more violent now than the previous night and his hair danced accordingly. Every nerve in his body was at its full capacity and it was as if he could hear every sound in the surrounding area.
His right hand had a steady grip around the handle of his katana, he was prepared to slice anyone who would get in the way of him and his target. When he was only about fifteen meters from the house the door suddenly slammed open right in front of him and his hand tightened around the handle, but he quickly loosened his grip around the katana when he saw that the people who had slammed the door open were a boy and a girl who both looked like they were under the age of thirteen. The first thought which came to his mind when he saw them was "Crap!, she's got kids"
I hope you enjoyed my first ever Webnovel and if you didn't that's to bad. I would love to hear some feedback about what you think I did good and also some constructive criticism about what I can improve.
You know what I think will happen in the next capter? I hope that the main character gets a big fighting robot and that this just turns into a mecha anime. Wouldn't that be awesome?! ?
?
?
I guess it wouldn't be a mecha anime since it's a novel so let's call it a mecha... Novel!!
