Bab 8: The goddess
Hephaestus was a tall woman with red hair and eyes, a eye patch over her right eye, and white skin. She had a bit of a frown at the moment as she was glaring at Tsubaki with her remaining eye, not sparing a glance at keres.
Tsubaki held put Keres down in front of her. "His name is Keres." Keeping her hands on his shoulders in fear he would teleport away. Keres stood there and took in a deep breathe and stretched to give some relief for his aching ribs. While he was doing so Hephaestus studied him in annoyance as she couldn't find anything special about him. Because of this she found him to be interesting. When Hephaestus ran her eye over Keres from top to bottom he felt naked, though he did not mind this.
Hephaestus frown got deeper and deeper as she studied Keres. She figured Tsubaki wanted this boy to join her familia but she could not glean anything from using her gods eye on Keres yet because of this her interest in him skyrocketed. Seeing that Hephaestus was getting annoyed because she couldn't learn anything using her god's eye. Tsubaki was shocked yet this made her extremely happy as her decision to immediately recruit Keres proved to be a excellent one.
Hephaestus opened her door completely. She stood the side beckoning Tsubaki and Keres inside. Keres noticed Hephaestus had an excited look on her face as he was ushered in by Tsubaki. Hephaestus house was kept clean despite having little furnishings. Hephaestus led the duo to her living room which contained a few of her schematics, tools, and a table with 6 chairs. Taking her seat she looked at Tsubaki and smiled. "I doubt you knew he could resist my gods eye. This alone is enough for him to join my familia." Hearing this Keres was confused but stayed silent.
Hephaestus looked at Keres and continued. "So show me what you can do." Keres went on to teleport to different areas in the room and stored a few of her tools. Hephaestus eyes went wide in amazement just like Tsubaki did when she saw this. While Tsubaki had a proud smile on her face.
"Who taught you magic Keres?"
"No one. I've always known how to just do it."
Hephaestus went on to ask the same question Tsubaki asked and Keres gave the same answers he gave to Tsubaki. Hephaestus mentally noted that she must find out the limits of Keres abilities as she went on to ask. "Why do you want to become an adventurer Keres?"
Keres contemplated for a few seconds. Looking Hephaestus in her sole eye. "To see new and interesting things."
"And is your family okay with this?"
"I'm an orphan." Keres decided to stick with the orphan story. Hearing his answer both Tsubaki and Hephaestus had a sad expression.
"Sorry." Hephaestus said.
"It's alright they've been gone for a while now."
Tsubaki had the urge to hug Keres to comfort him but seeing that he looked alright she calmed down.
"Take off your shirt Keres so I can imprint my familia crest on your back."
Keres did so and walked towards Hephaestus turning his back towards her. Hephaestus took out a needle, pricked her finger, and began to draw her crest onto his back all in a practiced manner. After she was done she began to take a look at Keres stats. What she saw made her stunned as she couldn't believe her own eyes.

All of Keres stats were over the limit. Both of his skills were unlike anything shes ever seen before. The boy in front of her was a monster in the making. No! He's already a monster. After rereading Keres stats a couple of times she made a copy and handed to Keres.
"Promise me you will never tell anyone else about your skills and storage magic!" Hepheastus demanded.
Tsubaki was off to the side so she couldn't see Keres stats or skills. But she knew to keep to herself at this moment. Keres read his stats and was surprised by what he saw. After thinking for a few moments he sighed.
(I guess that damn god considered everything.)
"Isn't this a good thing Hephaestus-sama? I'm literally a walking sponge! hehe." Keres replied with a smile.
Hephaestus glared at him and reprimanded. "It's both good and bad! Your potential is basically limitless. However if any of the other gods and goddesses come to find out they will want you at all cost. And if they can't have you they will kill you. So promise me."
Tsubaki hearing this was shocked. But still stood quiet.
(Are the gods really that petty in this world? Such a drag.)
"Hephaestus-sama I give you my word."
Hearing this Hephaestus nodded in satisfaction and gave Keres a big hug. "Alright, I officially welcome you to my familia. "
"Hephaestus-sama how often do I waste your time~!" Tsubaki smiled and gave Hephaestus a big hug along with Keres. Hephaestus pouted a bit since Tsubaki comes often asking her to drink long into the night.
"Keres if you don't mind would live here at my compound?" Hephaestus asked.
"Nope not at all!" Keres was of course willing since he was homeless.
"Great. Tsubaki take him to one of the vacant rooms and tell Nuren that he has a new mouth to feed."
Tsubaki smiled a bit. "No problem. I wonder if that old bugger still keeps his brew under his bed."
"It's getting late so we'll talk tomorrow in the morning Keres. Tsubaki you did well bringing him immediately to me, thank you."
After saying their goodbyes Keres was shown to his room. It was a empty room other than a bed shelf, closet, two lanterns on the wall, a rug, and a window which had the full moon within its frame. In the top left corner was a door that led into a bathroom. Tsubaki ruffled Keres head.
"I really want to know what made Hephaestus-sama so shocked. hehe. But oh well sleep tight Keres. You're going to need it haha" Tsubaki said as she walked out of the room.
Keres felt confused at her words but decided to think about it later as he was feeling sleepy. After taking a bath and jumping into the bed butt naked he fell asleep fast.
