"Wait what?" Lucian looked at Ellsie in shock. He already knew that Henry had been conspiring with Mara to kill Ellsie, but on her wedding day, were they really that cruel? "She killed you on your wedding day?"
While she watched as an older, naiver version of herself happily waltzed up to the altar. She smiled reminiscently as the scene unfolded out in front of her. Ellsie watched as the Duke walked up the aisle with her proudly. 'I'm sorry father'. Ellsie looked at the 40-year-old Duke, his eyes filled with love as he handed his daughter over to the man, he believed would take care of her. Ellsie forced herself to shift her eyes from the duke to the duchess. The heiress was not shocked to see that regardless of her beautiful face and kind smile there was a maliciously evil look in the duchess' eyes. "Yes, I suppose you could say it was the worst best day of my life." She finally replied.
"The 'worst best day' what? I can't believe you fell for this crap!" Lucian yelled at her, she looked at him in shock. He couldn't comprehend how this was still the best day of her life when it was the day that everyone betrayed her.
"I'm so happy to be able to call you my wife." Ellsie heard a familiar voice echo beside her, the man looked lovingly into the young girl's emerald eyes. She watched helplessly as her other self believed every word the man said. Tears welled up in her eyes, when she finally could not hold it in any longer, they ran down her face like a rapid river rushing off a cliff. "Let's take a walk my dear," The man smiled at her again. As she watched the man smiling at her Ellsie's heart rate increased.
Lucian's heart ached as he watched the girl beside him, trying to keep a straight face as the tears fell. An anger grew in his heart, just looking at the man's dark eyes filled the prince with a kind of hatred he'd never felt before. He'd known for a while that he'd kill her but seeing the way he looked at her with such a fake loving look, the prince had to resist the urge to kill the man when they got back to their own reality.
"Of course my darling." Ellsie echoed her own response. In the last 3 days since Ellsie had returned every time she closed her eyes, she would see this moment. "You know I'll go anywhere with you because I love you." The bride's face blushed brightly, as the man beside her picked up her chin and softly pressed his warm lips against hers.
"That's good, because I love you too." Henry looked down into her eyes with a peaceful smile.
"I can't believe that you knew he never loved you, yet you fell for all this crap anyway!" Lucian flew his empty hand into the air in anger. His stomach turned and he clenched his teeth as he saw the bride and groom kiss. Silently he looked at the girl next to him who was watching the happy couple with tears in her eyes. He couldn't help but wonder what the tears were for, were they the tears of remembering something she couldn't have, or perhaps because she knows what he will do next, or was there another reason?
"He was my fiancé what did you expect, that I wouldn't fall in love with him?" the heiress turned her head, to look at the man beside her, so fast that her tears were pushed away by the wind, leaving nothing but a few black lines of mascara down her face. Despite everything he had done to her, she still loved him, it was painful, and she hated it, but it was like there was a special piece of her heart she'd given to him and couldn't get back. So she would still uselessly defend him.
"You knew he didn't love you. You knew he was with your sister. You completely saw through his charade, yet you stayed with him! Why?"
"Why do you suddenly care, huh? Where were you when all this was going down? Oh no that's right you just totally ignored me after Henry and I got engaged!" Of course Ellsie knew Lucian had no memory of his at this time, he couldn't give her a real answer.
"That's probably because I didn't think he was good enough for you!" They had started screaming at each other, while the memory around them played on like a movie.
"Not good enough? Then who is good enough to marry me?" Ellsie's frustration was starting to show on her cheeks.
"I don't know, me!"
"You? Why would you want to marry me?" Ellsie lowered her voice and looked at the prince curiously. Was there something he wanted from her? If so then why didn't he just say yes the other night? She looked up at the man who was intensely blushing, why was he shy or angry?
"Because I love you, god damn it, you really are oblivious!" He stormed off letting go of her hand...
