In the hours after the Chitauri alien invasion, the National Guard, Army and SHIELD agents were deployed to secure New York City and to make sure there were no enemy combatants still active in the city.
They were also charged with helping fire and rescue in the efforts to liberate civilians from collapsed buildings and sub way platforms as well as recovering the dead for identification and then burial.
The people of New York City also came out to help the relief effort showing there unity in the face of adversity.
Invasion Day came to an end with News footages of candle light vigils for those that died being broadcast around the world.

On day one post alien invasion, the News cycle was still taking about the invasion and the lives lost but now there was also good news to report alongside it.
This good news was about the group of heroes that showed up during the invasion and put up a fight. They rescued a lot of people who were trapped on the streets, in cars etc. as the invasion went on, reducing the amount of lives that would have been lost.
And to top it all off, these heroes were able to end the alien invasion and prevent the end of the world.
Throughout the rest of the day, videos of the heroes battling the aliens were got from CCTV cameras, phones, News cameras that were on site during the battle and were then showed to people around the world.
Earth now had protectors, and they called themselves The Avengers.
But like with all things, people had split opinions about the heroes.
Some people agree that the Avengers did good protecting the city, others believe it was they that caused of all that went down.
A news report came on with Senator Boynton saying, "These so called heroes have to be held responsible for the destruction done to the city. This was their fight. Where are they now?"
While another news report showed a Waitress's (A/N: Ellie from the Last of Us) response to the Senator's statement, "What? That this was somehow their fault? Captain America saved my life. Wherever he is, wherever any of them are, I just wanna say thank you."

Day two after the invasion and the Avengers including Kal were meeting yet again in Central Park.
This time it wasn't to fight a global threat but to see Thor, Loki and the Tesseract off.
Thor shakes hands with his team and gives Selvig a hug.
"Tell Jane I will see her when I return" Thor said to Selvig.
"If I see her, I will" he replied.
Thor looked at Kal, "I hope to see you soon"
Kal chuckled, "you will" he replied.
Kal planned to visit Asgard and take part in the battles to come, across the nine realms as Asgard restored order to the chaos that was brought about by the destruction of the Bifrost.
Tony opens the Tesseract's case and Banner takes it out and places inside a glass tube, held by Thor.
Thor gives Loki the other end, who reluctantly takes it and with a twist on Thor's end of the glass tube, the Asgardians leap into the energy beam and were gone.
After witnessing Thor and Loki leaving, the other Avengers began to split up.
Banner enters a sports car with Tony and drives off.
Steve jumps on to his Harley moto bike and rides off.
Only Natasha, Barton and Kal were left.
"I off with Barton to another assignment" Natasha says to Kal.
Kal smiled at her, "good luck and may we meet again"
Natasha smiled back and got in to a SHIELD car with Barton, but before they could drive off, Kal approached Natasha's window and asked, "Do you need a snack for the road?"
"Sure, if you have any" she replied.
A golden apple appeared in Kal's hand and he gave it to Natasha.
She looked at the a golden apple then at Kal, "is it enable?" she asked
Kal nodded yes.
"Thank you" she said before Barton drove off.
Kal watched the car slow disappear as it drove away on the park road and he thought to himself, "I wonder the effects the apple will have on her. Will it make her the un aging Widow from the comics or something new?"
Kal then chuckled before he vanished.

Meanwhile back on the Helicarrier, Fury was having a meeting with the World Security Council via video conference.
"Where are the Avengers?"
"I'm not currently tracking their whereabouts. I'd say they've earned a leave of absence." Fury replied.
"And the Tesseract?"
"The Tesseract is where it belongs, out of our reach."
"That's not your call."
"I didn't make it, I just didn't argue with the god that did."
"So you let him take it and the war criminal, Loki, who should be answering for his crimes?"
"Oh, I think he will be." Fury replied.
"I don't think you understand what you've started, letting the Avengers loose on this world. They're dangerous."
"They surely are, and the whole world knows it. Every world knows it."
"Was that the point of all this? A statement?"
Fury looked at the council members before replying, "A promise."
The council were contented with his reply.
The meeting was about to come to an end when a council member asked, "And what about the Asgardian that remained, isn't he a threat"
"His only a threat if we make him out to be" Fury replied before walking out on the room.
After exiting the meeting room, Fury found Agent Hill outside waiting for him.
"What's next?" she asked.
"We keep doing our job, protecting the world" Fury replied before both Hill and he began walking down the hall way of the carrier.
"What is the progress on the Project T.A.H.I.T.I?" Fury asked
"It is going according to plan" Agent Hill replied.
"Good, let me know when his ready for duty. I have an idea for a new task force"
"Yes, Sir"
Fury and Agent Hill both reached the bridge and received salutes from the piloting crew.
"At ease" Fury said.
"It's time to get this ship home, set course for the Triskelion" Fury ordered.
