Time went by and before she was able to process the happy things that had happened between her and Alex, it was the end of the month. Zunnie had no idea Alex had been planning this big day the moment Dr. Sean said she was going to be fine.
He always made hints about the end of the month, but she never imagined he would secretly plan her wedding with the help of their family and friends without her realizing it.
She did say she wanted a spring wedding, but she had been in a coma. As she thought back to how surprised she had been when he drove her to Bai manner using a visit to her dad as an excuse, her heart slowly began beating a melodious tune.
She knew she loved him. She knew she loved him because he was unpredictable. She knew she loved him because he understood her. She knew she loved him because he simply loved her more in return. The hurt and pain from the past were long lost memories.
Zunnie glanced at Sanua and Mrs. Luo. They were fixing the perfect dress San had designed for her. The day Sanua had asked her about what kind of wedding dress she would like if she got married, she did not think it was for this occasion. Her eyes grew teary as she quietly watched them.
"If only mom was here…" She whispered softly. She had been through hell and back and was ready to conquer the world with Alex right by her side.
Thinking of her memories with her mom, her thoughts flashed back to her mom's smiling face, Papa Bai's loving embraces, Eyan encouraging words and brotherly love; Alex's handsome grins and all the love her family and friends had bestowed on her over the years.
The tears that had welled up in her eyes were about to slide down her cheeks but froze when she heard his voice.
"Pumpkin are you ready?" Her father walked into the room.
She hurriedly blinked the tears from her eyes, then turned around and nodded at her father.
Zunnie admired herself in the mirror one last time before gently placing her hands in Papa Bai's outstretched hand.
The memories of this day will be added to one of the happiest days she's been alive.
"Yes papa, I'm ready."
She took the bouquet that Sanua stretched before and grabbed her dad's extended hand nervously. When Sanua left them alone, Papa Bai chatted with her before giving her off to Alex.
"You look so beautiful. If I had known you would be this beautiful, I would have pushed you guys to do it sooner. I'm sure your mom is smiling down at you. You've grown up well and don't for a second...think she would be disappointed. Now hurry and bring my grandson into the world before I go blind." He said proudly as he led her to the summerhouse in the garden of the Bai manor.
"Ha-ha, well you just be happy because it's finally happening." She giggled.
"Papa loves you, pumpkin." He stopped and lightly kissed her cheek.
"And pumpkin loves you, papa." She squeezed his wrinkled hand tenderly.
Her dad then walked her down the aisle, to the man she was going to spend her forever with.
As she sauntered to him, she couldn't help admiring him. He was handsome in his navy-blue tuxedo. He had planned a surprise wedding for her, and in return, she was giving him a baby.
When her dad gave Alex her hand, Zunnie could feel her heart beating against her breast. She was indeed nervous, but the moment she looked up and met his warm amber eyes, her tensed nerves immediately eased away.
"Honey, you look just like how I imagined."
Hearing him compliment her, her face felt like it was on fire.
She squeezed his hand as they took their position before God, their family, and friends.
Despite meeting rivals and having near-death experiences, they found love. The conquered the bad days, the good days, the sad days, even the happy days.
Alex was the first to read his vow.
"Honey I love you. In my eyes, you're the most beautiful woman. If you're beautiful in my eyes, everyone else should be able to see that beauty. You light up any path you walk and everyone who meets you admires your quirky exuberance. However, I'm happy because I get to see that side of you the most. I want to hide you and have you all to myself but your father and Eyan will hunt me down. I failed to protect you once and it was the last time I will ever fail. I promise to warm you when you're cold. I promise to kiss you every day to remind you how much you mean to me. I promise to put you first and to call your family mine. I promise to be a good dad to our child, even it means giving them candy when you say no. I will be your everything so please love me till we're grey and old. Honey, we found love in a unique way, let us continue finding love together."
After he was done it was her turn. Zunnie took a deep breath and slowly breathed out. She looked up to meet his amber eyes and locked her deep blue eyes with it.
"Darling I love you. It is no secret that love is an emotion that gets the heart beating. Whether it be rapidly, sometimes slowly, other times in a sweet rhythmic thump or even in a painful tone, we felt it all. We had an overall idea of what love was from watching many romance movies, to receiving love from family and friends. Yet still, we were enthralled at how some romance movies made our hearts pound for the characters sad, painful, and happy moments. We never once imagined we would get to experience this emotion. So strong, yet so passionate; love brought us together. With entwined bodies, lips locking, soul-mating, we hopelessly found love. This heart-pounding, sweet sounding doom...doom...thump...thump that enveloped that small important and delicate muscle hiding behind our left breast; We found love. I promise to continue finding love with you."
