Lin Nuan was speechless.

She swallowed back the words of solace to Bai Xiaonian—she couldn't bear to break her defenses.

"Take good care of uncle!" Lin Nuan urged Bai Xiaonian.

"His illness isn't that bad. He said he's still going to watch your show tonight!" Bai Xiaonian smiled and looked full of hope. She continued, "As long as I can make enough money to get him to take the medication, he still has a long time to go…"

Bai Xiaonian sounded light-hearted. Lin Nuan urged her to look after her father, yet she insisted on sending Lin Nuan off.

Bai Xiaonian stood outside the hospital door for a long time as she watched Lin Nuan drive away in the Maybach in the pouring rain. She then went back upstairs.

By the time Lin Nuan got Fu Huai'an's call that he reached Jincheng, it was already 6:50 p.m.

She urged him to get some rest then hung up the phone so she wouldn't disturb his work.
