It wasn't only the Jin branch families who were freaking out upon learning the engagement between Iris Long and Jin Liwei. The Long branch families were also stunned into mixed reactions.

Iris' engagement to Jin Liwei meant that she would become the bridge connecting the Longs to the Jins. This connection was even better than their earlier assumption that she was engaged to Lu Zihao. Sir Lu Jianhong hadn't named his grandson, Lu Zihao, or anyone else for that matter, as his heir yet.

On the other hand, Jin Liwei was already the current head of the Jin family and Jin Corporation. Long Jufang became even more determined to continue trying to establish a close personal connection to Iris, and in extension, to Jin Liwei as well.
