I was sitting in an Infirmary bed with the prince sitting in a chair at my feet, and he was asking any question he could think of, big or small and completely random as well, so I couldn't kick him out.
"What's Polygamy?" I choked on my water and he stares at me innocently. After I had recovered I spoke carefully, explaining it with a clear distasteful expression.
"Polygamy is the marriage of one person to many more. Currently no country has outlawed it, but many do not practice it anymore even if it's legal." He nodded before firing off another question.
"How are babies made." I hate children. Why am I being asked this! WHY CAN'T YOU ANNOY YOUR PARENTS INSTEAD!?
"Ahhh, that's complicated...?" I laugh uneasily and he stares curiously at me.
"So how does it work Rosie?" NO DROP IT PLEASE!
"Well, let's just say certain things must happen, why don't you ask your parents?" Take the bait. Please take the bait.
"But they won't really explain it though... And neither will you apparently! Come on I wanna knoooowww!" He whines and I curse silently in my head.
"Well, I can't explain it properly, so ask someone else ok? Maybe your tutor instead?" He had gotten a new competent teacher so I felt the tutor could figure it out.
"Ok.... Hm, how about why your sick? Momma and daddy won't explain it, they said that someone made you very sick! Why have you been sick?" His big innocent eyes stared up at me, and I wished I had kept dodging the baby question.
"Ahhh, some people are just mean ok? And they were really mean and I got sick because of it. Anyways other questions?" I was terrified of his next question.
"Hmm... How about..." I stayed absolutely still while he thought, preparing mentally for another bomb.
"Why does the Kingdom of Casmire hate us with a passion?" I relaxed at that, phew not another bomb, I can handle it.
"We've had several of their leaders and their leaders children killed because they planned to war with us. They have actually been upping their military prowess so they are probably intending to attack someone soon. Peace might end soon unfortunately, but for now the measures we have been putting place should be major if they do decide to." He nods at my words and I smile wryly at him as he absorbs what I have said.
