Bab 5: chapter 5 journey

I know the headmaster from the school once you get in you better work hard." The young man nodded in silence as he looked at his ring and communicating with it mentally seeing that it safe to trust the old man he followed him and walked beside the old man's horse while the old man rode his horse.

Cuetlachtli spoke to the old man and asked: "what should I call you?" The old man looked back at him with one-eyed and replied: " you can call me one-eyed or wanderer if you like." Cuetlachtli nodded and started calling him one-eyed and started asking him questions about the world in order to obtain more information. One-eyed handed him a book from his horse's bag on the side of the saddle. Cuetlachtli accepted the book and saw words that were runic in nature but easily understood the title "The Origin Of The World Named Lore" He looked at One-eyed in thanks but then he asked, "what is this language called?" It was getting dark and One-eyed was impressed with Cuetlachtli thirst for knowledge so he stopped his horse, got off tied the horse to a tree and set up a simple rune around them in a circle that was read as "camp for three, rest we need, fire to warm our bones, and food to warm our bellies, let none enter if they are foe but friends may come and go." The runes around them lit up while changing and manifested into things necessary for camp. One-eye naturally was smooth with the transition and sat on a seat by the fire. He signaled for Cuetlachtli to sit on another of facing him. As he sat down food appeared but it was food that was made for Cuetlachtli and One-eyed perfectly.

One-eyed drinks consist of things like mead, and ale while his food had Honey glazed root vegetables, and Boiled Lambsquarters.... meanwhile Cuetlachtli drinks were cocoa made the traditional way mixed with chili and honey and endless spices, and another drink was pulque but his meals were chia seeds, tamales, squash, beans, quinoa, tortilla, fish, turkey, lizard.... while all these foods were manifesting perfectly one after the other while still having enough room for more food for the night to fill their bellies. One-eyed begin to describe the origin of the runes and where they come from and how they came to be due to a god named Odin who hanged himself for nine days on the world tree which was connected to nine other realms and learned of runes. He also told Cuetlachtli to "read the book he will understand more about this world and all the races, language, cultures, maps, and dangers and treasures in it." One-eyed went into his tent and slept while two ravens sat in the tree above watched Cuetlachtli process the information about runes and read a little bit of the book until he fell asleep.

Early in the morning Cuetlachtli woke up and decided to take a bath in the river nearby. He saw his own reflection and saw his skin was getting adjusted to the world and he was now naturally brown. He was handsome, young, slender built, long dark hair, and brown eyes. He entered the river but left his clothes nearby on a tree branch. He felt refreshed and went to grab his clothes felt something weird and realized his clothes now had the symbol of wood, water, wind, fire, and earth. He put it on and felt the elements around him but he could not control them.

Suddenly The river was disturbed bubbling upwards as something came out Cuetlachtli recognized the monster from the book and it was called Ahuizotl a dog-like monster with a hand at the end of the tail that loves to eat human flesh. He ran back to camp which was not far he ran far and the monster was slow out of the water but still, chasing him as he was running he hit his head on a rock from tripping on a root got up and kept running until he got to camp. One-eyed was awake by this time eating breakfast and sees Cuetlachtli running from the Ahuizotl and right into the camp He laughed loudly at him and said: "What did you do to piss off that monster?" One-eyed calmly was still seated eating his food as if he was watching something entertaining then he got bored and focused on the food. The Ahuizotl was trying to attack them but couldn't due to the camp identifying the Ahuizotl as a foe.

Blood was running down Cuetlachtli head from the minor injury he got from the rock when he tripped. He began to speak mentally to his ring ["So this is what you meant by I am vulnerable."]

ring: ["yes you may be powerful but your own summons can accidentally hurt you due to lack of understanding the basics of summoning. Not only that but other beings even if they are summoned beings by others or not summoned beings they can still hurt or worse kill you."] Cuetlachtli sat in silence for a moment until One-eyed said: "okay Ahuizotl is gone let's us leave we should arrive at the school in two weeks."

One week past during his travel Cuetlachtli was silent he immersed himself in the book because if it wasn't for the book or his luck he might have died in the river. If I stayed in the river a second longer the Ahuizotl monster would have simply used his tail to drag me under and eat me alive in the river. Chills were sent throughout his entire body at the thought. Here what he learned so far from the book.
