Bab 166: Energy Transfer
Kazuya carried Lilica to the nearest medical room and made her go through several examinations worriedly. Lilica's family also followed in worriedly.
After several hours, the doctor finally came in with the results, her face looking grave.
"How was the results?" Kazuya asked worriedly. Just from looking at the doctor's face, Kazuya had a bad feeling about the results already.
"Firstly, the second princess wasn't injured anywhere. I've concluded that she had fainted from fear and feeling traumatized." the doctor said with a stern face. Although it was good that Lilica was safe, why was the doctor still making a grave face?
Kazuya felt relieved when he heard that Lilica was fine. However, seeing the doctor's expression, he felt like this wasn't all.
"What about the baby?" Kazuya asked, feeling a little fearful. He felt like the doctor's grave expression may be related to the health of his child.
"…" the doctor didn't answer.
The whole room fell silent for a moment before the doctor finally spoke up in a serious voice.
"Second Prince, it turns out that the second princess was pregnant with twins. Normally, just having twins is already very risky. In the first place, the second princess didn't have enough magical power to give birth to the twins. We have been preparing for only one child so she didn't have enough energy for the twins. Now that she was attacked, her babies had tried their best to protect her, exhausting almost all their magical power. When this happens, both the mother and child are weakened and will not have enough energy to survive on."
Everyone but one person was stunned at the sudden news. The former queen had expected something like this the moment she had checked on Lilica earlier. She felt that her magical power was way too low.
"We are currently trying our best to give her more magical power but her body is rejecting it. In this case, we have two options." The doctor continued with a serious expression.
Giving energy to others was just like blood donation. Energy can be given by many parties but there was a possibility that the body of the person receiving the energy rejected it.
"…What are the options?" Kazuya asked, feeling like his heart had suddenly become empty. At this moment, he didn't care that he was having twins. He was more scared of losing Lilica, the love of his life.
"The first one…is to abandon the child."
The room turned silent before the doctor continued, "The second options is to transfer your energy to the second princess, Second Prince."
Transferring energy was something very risky. It was a taboo ever since the founding of the demon realm. The reason for that was because transferring one's energy to others had a very low success rate. Not only that, it may cause the death or either party, or even both. It also meant that both parties would have equal amount of magical energy too, if the transfer had actually succeeded.
"I'll take the second option." Kazuya replied instantly. He didn't have to think twice when it was something concerning Lilica. He didn't hesitate to sacrifice himself for her.
Although they had perform the blood exchanging ceremony, if the blood transfer didn't work properly and one of them died, the other person wouldn't die but instead, that person would gain the sum of the two lifespans.
"Are you sure?" the doctor asked, not sure if the king and queen would actually even allow Kazuya to transfer his energy to Lilica.
"Yes." Kazuya answered determinedly without any hesitation. Although they could let other people transfer energy, Lilica's body had been rejecting other magical energies. The doctor had concluded that Kazuya's energy was the most suitable since their babies would help her body accept Kazuya's energy.
The doctor looked towards the king and queen, looking for permission. Kazuya was the second prince so they will have to accept the fact that his life may be at risk from performing the energy transfer.
The both of them nodded as consent. They knew that they couldn't stop Kazuya once he had made a decision anyway. Especially not when it concerned Lilica's life.
"Second Prince, please follow me then." The doctor said as she led Kazuya to where Lilica was currently at.
