In the meantime, At Lillian's residence -
After Jenna carried Lillian to her bedroom, the author finally gave up her rituals and dozed off to deep sleep.
Meanwhile, Jenna remained downstairs and took care of the apartment. She thought because of all the ongoing commotions, Lillian got exhausted and eventually let the fatigue take over her system.
A while after the book release, Jenna received a call from Shane.
He congratulated the editor for her hard work and also informed the breaking news of Gill's new book already getting buzzed around the public, and the sale is increasing at a rapid speed.
Shane informed that he tried to reach Lillian first to tell the good news, but with no response from her end, Jenna was the next best option to reach out and share the accomplishment. He also gave Jenna a few days to steam off the stress and tension. Jenna was in no position to celebrate her short holidays because of Lillian, who just sucked all the energy out of the poor soul.
Nonetheless, Jenna thanked her boss, with a slight show-off of excitement.
The call ended soon, and Jenna took a glance at the time.
It was already eight in the night.
Lillian is still sleeping like a log upstairs in her room. Jenna didn't want to wake up her just for the sake of dinner. However, after receiving such good news from the boss, she couldn't hesitate any longer.
Jenna switched off the television and immediately went to Lillian's room.
Jenna switched off the television and immediately marched to Lillian's room.
"Wake up, Ms. Grey, right now!"
It was the mantra that Jenna kept repeating until Lillian's eyes twitched from the commotion.
She opened her eyes to see a blurry image of her favorite editor, who is now looking like the most bothersome figure she ever had to encounter.
'What is with this girl, waking me up every time, disturbing my peaceful sleep?'
Lillian thought as she sat up in sluggish motion.
"What the hell, Jenna? What are you doing?" Lillian's anger seethed boundaries and sought after the noise-making, sleep wrecking sweet villain, Jenna.
By the time, she kept throwing daring words at her editor, Lillian realized the change in location. If her memory serves right, then she dozed on and off on the couch. However, right now, she is in her room and sleeping on her bed.
Connecting the missing dots, Lillian figured that it might be Jenna's work since it followed the same pattern.
Jenna, on the other hand, invaded Lillian's closet, trying to search through the display to select something.
"Ms. Grey, can you please get out of bed right now and go take a clean shower?" she cried as she examined the closet.
When Lillian asked for the reason, Jenna informed about Shane's good news about the book release and declared that they are going out to celebrate the success.
Jenna's voice sounded like a dictator rather than someone who wish to suggest or invite while awaiting a response.
While Jenna did what she did, she maintained that posture of certainty and absolute secrecy without exhibiting any hidden motive. Jenna doesn't want the beast to suspect any doubts.
"What is wrong with you, Jenna?" Lillian said as she stepped out of her bed.
"By the way, what time is it now?" she asked curiously.
"Man. I feel like I slept for two days straight," Lillian remarked and observed her face getting soaked deep into the world of slumber.
It was eight minutes into eight in the night, and Lillian asked for her mobile, which Jenna already anticipated, returning it to the right owner.
Lillian noticed the many missed calls from Shane and a few messages to congratulate on her new book release.
Lillian's finally exhaled in relief, for every time it is stressful to live through a new publication.
While she got deep into her mobile, Lillian leaned against the walls as she went through the trouble of returning Shane's messages with her return texts.
Dropping her hunt from the closet, Jenna approached the arrested Lillian and dragged her forcefully towards the bathroom.
"What- is it, Jenna? Tell me, What is going on with you-"
Startled Lillian resisted against the kinetic force.
"It. Is. My. Treat, Ms. Grey."
Jenna spoke as she kept struggling to push the resisting Lillian into the bathroom.
"We are going to celebrate your new book. I'm treating you to dinner. So, will you please don't fuss about it and get ready pretty for me, if possible?" Jenna pleaded.
Lillian's state of mind is still buffering as she had woken up from a deep sleep. All of this made her numb, and she just kept following what Jenna said.
Lillian took a clean shower and returned to look at the dress Jenna had picked out for her.
It was a red-colored fit and flare dress.
Staring at it, Lillian felt displeased.
"What's up with this dress? Is she planning to take me out on a date?" Lillian thought the dress was a little too much for their dinner plans.
"Jenna?" Lillian called out from her room.
Jenna was waiting downstairs.
"Yes, Ms. Grey. What happened now?" she responded vehemently.
"I'm a little uncomfortable with the costume that you picked out for me. No offense, I will rock it. However, you and me- along with food- It will be more comfortable if I can wear my jeans and a shirt. Don't you think?" Lillian reasoned out with her to avoid wearing such a pretty dress for a casual dinner plan.
Irritated from such reasoning, Jenna informed Lillian Grey about the place they will be dining and forced, the star of the evening, to wear the dress. She did not care for Lillian's opinions but only decreed over her rationalizing.
A few moments later, Lillian came down dressed all pretty in her red flare dress. It fitted her toned figure and gave her an attractive appearance. Jenna herself was shocked to see Lillian in such an attire.
She gasped in the awe.
"Wow, Ms. Grey. I've never seen you look this gorgeous. You always wear those jeans and shirts with that crappy long trench coat. I even firmly believed that I wouldn't be able to see you like this. But man, god damn. Now, I know why they call you a player. Such a beauty, yourself," Jenna spoke as she felt the urge to capture this moment, which she might not able to see in the future.
Jenna kept taking pictures of Lillian. Seeing her enthusiastic, Lillian can't help but go along with it.
"Ms. Grey, can we take a picture together?" Jenna asked her in the spur of the moment.
Hearing her say it, Lillian gaped in surprise. Even though they have been together for a long time, Jenna and Lillian never took pictures together before. So hearing it now moved Lillian sentimentally. She graciously allowed, and they both finally took their first photo together.
