Alex was currently just wandering around the school as he had no other classes for today. Eraser Head was probably off sleeping somewhere after the testing they did earlier. If he had to guess, the kids were probably in their mundane classes.
The fight previously had been a bit informative. It wasn't very difficult and the added assistance made it though as he didn't have to expand as much effort. The only real limiting factor was the proximity to the school, Alex very well couldn't let off an anti-army or anti-fortress noble phantasm to eviscerate the shadow. No, he kept the fight small, going for a more controlled and precise kill. It was obvious that his opponents skill was far below his, it mostly opted for more brute tactics which was a bit surprising after his previous fight a couple months ago.
It wouldn't be far off to say that each shadow had its own preferences or strengths in fighting. The first one he fought could have been a caster whereas this one was more akin to a berserker. Its strength was probably just barely in the realm of a servant, the most annoying thing was its 'regeneration'.
He would have to be cautious now in the future if others of that species could also forgo their malleable forms for increased strength. Overall, that level of combat prowess as not a threat to him. He had a few good cards to play in an emergency to end the fight quickly with a chunk of prana. He could have used the final miracle of Durandal, or even taken out Gae Bolg and activated it's effect. Either would have probably finished the fight a lot quicker but he would have left himself open if any other enemies were lurking about. They cost quite a bit of prana to use and he had already used Durandal twice over and opened dozens of portals.
Opening a portal to fire a projectile from the Gate does in fact cost prana even if its miniscule. Though the larger the portal, the more it seems to cost.
Hell, he probably could have just dropped that sky-scrapper blade ontop of it, though he would rather not have the school freak out about a blade as tall as that suddenly appear next to them.
Putting such things aside, he thought the situation played out heavily in his favor and he minimized any significant risks while also achieving victory without any major losses. He would look into restoring the miracles through points depending on if the gate can restore them and if how long. The sheer versatility they give is astonishing.
Now there was just the matter of what to do now. His reserves were a bit over 50%, enough to fight if needed but he would rather not go looking for trouble without being higher up. He would probably be good to go by tomorrow.
After a decent fight, he was feeling a bit antsy like he needed to do something.
He had a thought as he went around the school to find an empty room somewhere secluded which wasn't very hard considering the size of the facility.
He pulled out his tablet and loaded up the store, the sheer amount of things he could purchase was basically unlimited. A few filters and he found what he was looking for, it was the next book in the series that he purchased previously with regards to magecraft. There was a description on the item, it held knowledge on Reinforcement, Bounded Fields and runes along with some other miscellaneous knowledge.
He had 31,000 points to work with. His next status upgrade was at 50,000 and he assumed it would get close to the amount he had previously so he did have some to spare.
A moment later he purchased it. A book appeared In his hand at the cost of 2,000 points leaving him with 29,000.
It would be useful in the long run. Bounded field by themselves had already been serving him well and if he could master reinforcement then his strength would increase a not insignificant amount. He was also a tad excited about this, he had hit a wall with his own self studies previously and wanted to finally make progress.
His first instinct was to just start flipping all about and see where he had been going wrong but it was wiser to just focus on reinforcement at the moment, having a person with a supernatural healing ability on standby was too good to pass up for now.
"Huh, I guess I was somewhat going in the correct direction." He mused as he read through the book.
Having an idea of the human structure was very important with body reinforcement. Basically, he would be filling in the gaps or flaws in his own bodies structure. For this he would need to understand the muscle and bone structure of the human body and be able to analyze himself with structural grasp. Even if he was a Heroic Spirit in the flesh, his body was still based on that of his old one. It still had the inherent flaws in its biology that could be filled.
He did purchase quite a few books related to this subject back in academy city.
With a thought, he pushed the bookshelf out from his gate as he scoured it for the correct material.
A couple hours later and a half dozen books thrown out around the place, Alex focused intently on his left ring finger.
It would be the first time he tries body reinforcement.
With a deep breath he activated his circuits and willed the spell to fix the flaws in his finger.
A moment later he felt a sharp pain in his finger as it turned red and started to swell up.
"Ow…." He couldn't help but mutter.
"pushed too much in too quickly, it really is a delicate craft."
He waived his hand, all the objects that had been thrown around him and been taken back by the gate as he got up.
"Well time to see how good the healing is…"
Alex was making his way through the exceedingly large and awkwardly designed school. He looked rather normal in this sea of strange as the students were just let out of their recent classes and were out and about.
He was in his normal suit that he wore as a 'teacher' so a few looks were directed at him. Probably some of the kids wondering who he was as most of the teachers were very well known as heroes.
It didn't take long to reach the nurse's office.
"Well, I didn't expect to see you in here anytime soon." A soft elderly voice sounded as Alex walked into the room.
"Greetings, it appears as though I've had a little accident." Alex replied as he held up his swollen finger.
"How did that happen." She asked.
"I was practicing a technique that is similar in nature to Midoriya's, as you can see the results can also be just as disastrous." Alex said with mild embarrassment.
Her eyes narrowed a bit as she looked at him and finally let out a sigh.
"I swear, you boys are going to be the death of me." She said with a bit of exasperation. "I heard of you're little outing with All Might earlier as well…"
"Ah, I guess news travels fast." Alex replied.
"Yes, Nezu was most distraught that something like that happened without him knowing…."
"Ah…..it seems I should make myself scarce for the next few days." Alex said with a shudder as he recalled the whispered stories of the principal's more sadistic side.
"Well, lets deal with your little booboo." She said with a smile as she gave it a quick kiss.
Her power allows her to increase the recovery rate with a kiss, the longer she kisses the stronger the effect, the only downside is the drain on the bodies' energy.
Alex could feel it as his body's energy was pulled forth towards the injured spot.
He watched as his finger was healed in real time and was as good as new in a few moments.
"Your ability is incredible." He couldn't help but blurt out.
It made him truly miss the healing ability of Avalon. He would need to reacquire his sheath later.
"Aren't you a flatterer." She said with an amused expression.
Alex just smiled. "Thank you for the assistance, I will endeavor to make sure this doesn't happen again."
"Please, I'm well aware I'm probably going to be seeing you many more times after this." She said with a chuckle.
Alex let out a small laugh as he left the room.
After leaving the nurse's Alex figured he should go visit All Might, his schedule indicated he would be shadowing the hero's lesson tomorrow and wanted to know what he was in for.
A with a knock on the door, a voice welcomed him to come in.
"Yo." Alex said as he walked in.
The hero just stared at him, his muscular form present and his smile never leaving his face yet a noticeable twitch above his eye.
He let out a sigh as he reverted to his skinny body.
"I just got out of the meeting with Principal Nezu." The hero said.
"I heard, Recovery Lady gave me the forewarning to steer clear of that mess." Alex said with a smile. "So whats on the agenda for tomorrow's class?"
"Two vs Two teams, heroes and villians. Villian team will be protecting a fake bomb while the Heroes need to infiltrate a building to disable it." All Might stated with a sigh.
"Randomized partners?" Alex asked.
The hero nodded.
"That's pretty smart, they were pushed today to use their powers to their fullest potential and tomorrow they'll have to learn to use their powers wisely and in a more narrow setting." Alex said.
"Yes, while its important for the young heroes to be able to utilize their quirks to their fullest potential they also need to learn how to hold back as required." All Might agreed.
"Sounds interesting." Alex said.
"Yes, I look forward to seeing how the future heroes perform tomorrow." All Might said as well.
Short chapter semi filler just to cover some things and bridge the gap. This Arc isn't going to be much longer probably just a handful of chapters left.
