Honestly I pity every girl who falls for my brother because he is as dense as a wall.
We make our way into the castle and I sigh as my brother flashes his classic gentleman's smile, COMPLTELY unaware of its effect on the female population.
I, on the other hand keep my facial expression blank. I overhear some boys describing me as a cool beauty but oh well. If it keeps bothersome people away any reputation is fine. Plus, villains are meant to be alone.
We reach a large chamber filled with other kids our age. It is also where our parents wish us luck and leave.
"I wonder what they'll have us do! Fight dragons maybe!" My brother says excitedly.
I roll my eyes at him. "We are first years, we haven't even learned how to use magic yet. Besides it's a test to tell if we are good or evil."
My brother peers at me curiously. "How come you are not nervous at all?"
I snort. Although I am nervous, just a little, there's no way I'd admit that to him.
"I'm confident in my abilities and who I am." But my brother has wandered off to a group of his other friends.
We are taken out of the chamber a few people at a time. As time passes the people in the chamber slowly empty out. Finally, my brother, me, and four other people are left.
I have spent this entire time reading a book on poisons I conviniently snuck out of aunt Sophie's office. I figure, if I'm to be in her school anyway I will have plenty of opportunities to return it.
My brother on the other hand has chatted his way through nearly everyone there. Now, he approaches me with his newly made friends.
"Adria, come meet everyone, you can't be antisocial forever."
"Yes I can." I say although I am closing my book. It seems to me the test might involve multiple people. It might be wise to see who else will be taking it with me. And that's the ONLY reason I️'m willing to talk to them. Villains ARE meant to be alone but villains can talk to people when it benefits them.
I look up.
Freckles. Fluffy red curls. Glittering emerald eyes. An ear to ear smile. Skin tanned just right. Cuteness and friendliness in perfect proportions. Everything I'm not.
"This is Linsey", Cedric says. "She's the daughter of...who did you say again?"
"I didn't. Although her smile remains, something dark flashes through her eyes. Whoa she is totally two faced.
"Uh okay, well Linsey meet my sister Adria, also known as Dree."
"Nice to meet you Dree." She says with a smile absolutely dripping honey. Yup, she's totally in it for my brother.
Wow perfect mix of cute and wicked.
Still I maintain my mask and expressionlessly shake her hand.
"And Dree this is Rauf son of Aladdin, Lei son of Mulan, and Oceanus son of Ursula.
I look them over. Rauf has a slightly regal and pompous air about him which just accsentuates his sharp boned and prominent features. Just his expression says "Out of my way commoners." But to me he gives a grand bow, probably due to the he fact that my kingdom is larger than his. Well, at least he seems to know who to flatter.
Lei on the other hand has adopted a more calm and stoic expression which adds to the allure of his mysterious looking eyes that seem to be...violet in color? Honestly though, his mask is not so different from mine.
And Oceanus...well for starters he is gorgeous, not that I'm in the habit of noticing this sort of thing but his looks are even as equally good looking as my brother if not more so. His hair seems black at first glance but actually has a shimmer of blue surrounding it and the rest of his face...let's just say he and my brother would make a fearsome pair.
I greet them all nuterally.
"You six!" We are called out of the chamber.
"What do you guys think the test will be about?" My brother asks eagerly.
"Hump, well whatever it is I am going to be in good." Rauf says.
I raise my eyebrow at him. Such confidence.
I tune them out as they discuss the test. We walk through a long marble white hallway, lit by torches. At some point the hallway turns into stairs going down. Here the torch lights are dimmer. We keep going farther and farther down until eventually we come to a white door.
The man leading us till here opens it.
Wow.
My mind goes numb and that's all that comes to mind.
