Bab 11: Fragmented Soul
<Mother?>
Eyelids twitching, Jasper's eyebrows scrounged together slight.
Grinding his teeth in annoyance, he directly replied out loud word for word.
"What games are you playing now, DRAGON CHILD?!"
The object shook mildly in fear.
If one looked closely, the puny being inside Jasper's mana pool was indeed the very same dragon child, who had so easily sacrificed his soul to try to drag Jasper along with himself towards obliteration.
He was no more than a fragment of his former soul.
Maybe it was due to the detonation of his soul, that a sliver of it had managed to thrust itself into Jasper's enormous mana pool, located at his dantian.
If it wasn't for the leakage of the dragon child's evil miasma, Jasper would have still been in the dark.
Perceiving Jasper's anger, the fragmented soul hesitated to answer him, choosing instead to hide deeper within the mana pool.
"I asked you a question," Jasper said through grinded teeth.
Gathering up the little amount of courage he had, the dragon child slowly floated back to his original spot timidly.
Afraid to anger Jasper even further, he reluctantly replied to his host.
<I-I-I'm....I d-don't k-k-know.>
"What do you mean you don't know?!"
Jasper was exasperated from how submissive the dragon child was acting.
This was the monster that was supposed to bring the world of Trinix to its destruction.
The omnipotent fiend who was second only to his mother the evil dragon god.
The beast that he had fought for 9 days and 9 nights, only for them both to perish from Trinix.
How could he possibly accept this sudden change in personality?
It was as though it was a totally different being all together.
<I-I-I really don't k-know. I w-was a-already here w-when m-mother woke me.>
"Who are you calling mother?!"
The dragon child's eyes started brimming with tears, feeling abandoned by his very own mother.
Like how baby chicks recognize the first person they see as their mother, the fragmented soul of the dragon child had been imprinted by Jasper, the only presence he felt since awakening.
Having absorbed some of the mana within Jasper's mana pool, the newly formed dragon child, can indeed be considered as his kid.
Jasper's heart softened ever so slightly at the distressed little dragon.
"Alright. Alright. Stop crying already," he sighed.
Desperately holding back his tears from falling, the young dragon clenched his lips together, trying to keep his cries from sounding out, giving out soft whimpers.
"I'm not mad, so stop crying okay?"
The dragon child looked ahead of him apprehensively, slowly calming down from his earlier anguish.
<You're really not mad?>
Jasper felt his heart clench at the sight of the cute little baby dragon with big dewy eyes filled with tears threatening to fall down his scaly obsidian face.
"I'm really not mad."
<Mother!>
The dragon child's smile became so wide, his eyes closed into crescent moons, causing the tears he had not dried to roll down his tiny cheeks.
It made it seem as though he was truly crying tears of joy.

Some of you may be wondering about the different types of brackets used between dragon child and Jasper, even though they were talking to each other.
Jasper is hearing him inside his mind, as he is inside his mana pool, hence the angle brackets used in thought transmission, while Jasper himself is speaking out loud.
Hope that cleared up any confusions.
