Bab 20: Movie

"Where have you hidden him?!" The woman on the big screen with white hair and blue eyes glared at the man standing opposite of her. The man had copper red hair and blue eyes. He looked unfazed by her words and stood expressionlessly as she hurled insults at him.

"He foolishly believed he could slay the dragon and walked into his own demise." He calmly said to her. The woman was noticeably affected by his words. She took a step back, her hands shaking and she bit her lower lip. Tears began to fall as her strong facade crumbled.

"He promised me he wouldn't die. He said he'd marry me when he came back." The woman clenched her fists and sobbed.

"He failed to uphold his promise so now it's time for you to uphold yours." The man reached out his hand. The woman hesitated but lifted her frail hands and motioned to hold his.

"Wait! This promise is nulled!" A booming and urgent voice echoed. The woman turned to look at the owner of the voice, she retracted her hand and there she saw the man she was waiting for. The man had pale blonde hair and green eyes, he was battered and injured, filthy and worn out. He panted and was out of breath but his gaze carried with it strength and determination.

"You're alive!" The woman pounced at the man and hugged him. Tears of joy dripped down her face as she sobbed.

"I promised that I'll be back." The blonde haired man gently said in return...

"Wow! That movie was so good!" Sherry exclaimed. Her eyes were somewhat red from crying in the cinemas.

"Yeah, the dragon was cool." Janine was still in a daze over the cool cg and sound effects during the last battle.

"The marriage between the princess and the knight was so emotional." Sherry said, getting emotional again. "What'd you think, Dylan?"

"The dragon looked strange." He laughed. The dragon shown on screen looked more like a giant lizard more than anything. Real dragons were ferocious creatures, wise and awe inspiring. Their bodies were tougher than steel, eyes filled with wisdom and claws sharper than anything in the word.

"Certainly, they would have felt insulted if they knew what we thought dragons were over here." Sherry laughed in remembrance. "Janine thinks the dragon looked cool though."

"Hmm? I heard my name?" Janine shoved herself back into the conversation.

"Oh, we were just talking about how the dragons looked different from what they looked like in Diva." Sherry told Janine with a chuckle.

"Oh, what do they look like?" Janine asked.

"Uhh. Really big and majestic." Sherry somehow felt that she could not describe the mightiness of a dragon.

"What the hell! That's exactly what a dragon is." Janine laughed and playfully slapped Sherry's shoulder.

"I'll show you when we get home." Sherry said and moved onto a different topic. "What'd you think about the princess and the knight?" She asked Dylan.

"I think their relationship is something that only exists in fiction." Dylan objectively replied.

"That's so unromantic." Sherry pouted and complained.

"Haha. But princesses are not so naive as they depict in the films. They are properly educated and acknowledge the importance of their roles in society. They will never compromise the safety of their country for another. Even if the other person is someone they love." Dylan explained. As someone who grew up in a medieval society, he was well aware of this concealed truth. Stories of elopement or marriage across statuses are merely works of fiction and simply not realistic. "The knight should have known this. He was a lower noble, a princess was simply out of his reach."

Sherry was going to scold him for being unimaginative and a buzzkill when Dylan continued.

"But if you were the princess, I would have risked my life to claim you as mine. Even if the whole world points their swords against us, I would still choose you."

Sherry's face flushed with red. Her face looked shocked and bashful. "A-a-a-a, I thought you said it was impossible."

Dylan nodded. "Fortunately, you're not a princess." His straight white teeth revealed themselves as he directed a dazzling smile at Sherry.

Sherry was bright red and didn't speak anymore. She covered her face with her hair and looked at the ground.

Beside them, Janine sighed. What had she done to deserve this? She glared at the two love birds and purposely destroyed the strange mood in spite. "I'm going to stay over at your house today. You don't mind right?"

"Of course I don't!" Sherry replied after she snapped out of her daze. "You're always welcome."

"Great." Janine walked in between Sherry and Dylan, separating the two. "Don't get into any funny business while I'm here."

"Janine!" Sherry yelled with her ears heating up once again.

Janine snickered. "Also, I want to see a real dragon, so be prepared to show me one."

Sherry looked at Janine as if she was stupid. "A dragon's so big, how are we supposed to take it out to show you? Be satisfied with an image of one."

Janine's eyes widened. "I was only joking but you actually had one?"

Sherry tried to whistle and looked away. At this, Dylan chuckled softly. Whenever Sherry was trying to evade a subject, she would whistle. But she didn't know how to whistle so all she was doing was making a weird face and breathing air out of her mouth.

"How do you have a dragon? What even?" Janine exclaimed.

"But we couldn't help it. We accidently walked into its cave so it tried to kill us. Fortunately it was only a baby dragon so it was significantly weaker. But a baby dragon is still strong enough to destroy a few strongholds." Sherry relented and exclaimed. "Dylan should have it in his storage."

"Hmm?" Dylan heard his name and asked.

"Do you still have the dragon in your storage?"

"Ah, yeah, I do. I couldn't find somewhere to dispose of it." Dylan answered. Back then, he and Sherry battled with the baby dragon until they were within the brink of death. It was not like they wanted to kill the dragon but it was too aggressive and insisted on attacking them. And so, they ended up with the body of a baby dragon in their hands. However, the hunting of baby dragons were forbidden by multiple countries and so Dylan had no choice but to leave it to figuratively rot in the corner of his storage.

"Janine wanted to see a real dragon so I was reminded so it. Don't show it to her though, its too conspicuous."

Dylan swallowed the words back down.

"Well then, let's go home."

The three of them walked side by side and went home.
