[In Jeff's point of view ]

We finally got the spare key to open the door. I forced my way inside without waiting
a second and my eyes met with the most horrid scene I had ever seen.
Adobi followed immediately after.
Sav was on the floor, unconscious. Her hands were firmly holding a container of drugs, some of which were scattered around her. She must've fell after taking them.
I knew what she had done, but there was this voice inside me that kept forcing me to believe otherwise.
I went down on her and checked for a pulse. I held her wrist, checked her neck for any sign of life as a cold chill blew above my spine.
"Call the ambulance!" I yelled desperately as my heart sank in fear.
Within minutes, the flashing red and blue lights of the ambulance surrounded the place signifying the misfortune that had happened.
The screeching tires and the keening wail of the siren, madly barreling through the streets in the hopes of saving one more life as the echoes spread throughout the neighborhood made me shiver.
The ambulance came with aggressive speed, the kind of sheer driving audacity that let everyone know the siren wasn't a polite request to move. Every head turned to follow the red and blue streak, unaware of what has happened.
They came in the room and placed her on a stretcher. I watched as they carried her on the stretcher into the ambulance.
Tears trickled down my eyes, my head burning with questions that suffocated my lungs.
Why would she do this? Was it because of me? Did I- Had I ever hurt her so bad?
"Who's related to this girl?" The paramedic asked looking at where Adobi and I stood.
"We need someone to come with us to the
hospital."
"I am!" Adobi and I sapped at once.
"Let me go with them. You try to get Mr. Reginald and tell him what has happened." I suggested as I entered the ambulance.
She looked a little sceptical, but agreed immediately. "Okay. I'll be there with him when he arrives."
The paramedics quickly parked the truck in front of the hospital and took her out and without watering another moment, they hurried her through the double doors.
I held onto her hand as I ran to keep up with the rushing doctors, every other detail of the moment blurring out of my eyes.
"Sir, nobody is allowed to go further." The receptionist said as they held me back.
Her hand slipped from my grip and in that moment, I felt like my life had slipped away from me.
I desperately looked for her as her stretcher disappeared into the emergency room.
This couldn't be happening. God, was she okay?
I knew if anything happened to her, I would blame myself for the rest of my life- if I managed to live at all.
I kept walking up and down the aisle, my eyes desperately looking for anyone to walk out the emergency room.
My gaze landed on the hospital chapel, my heart squeezing as I found myself walking closer to it.
What was I doing? I'd not been anywhere near the church in years.
I stood at the entrance and watched how other people knelt, tears dropping and praying for their loved ones.
Some, did it out of sheer protocol. Someone they loved was in there somewhere fighting for their lives and they had to do everything in their power, even pray, to save them.
I walked over to the alter and knelt. I stayed for a while not knowing what to say or do.
My voice cracked as I finally managed to say something. "Don't take her away from me, please."
I tried to say anything else, but no words left my knotted heart.
I walked back to the waiting area with hopes of hearing something good when the doctor came out.
Adobi and Mr. Reginald rushed into there minutes after. I stood up and walked over to them when I saw them.
Mr. Reginald looked at me, eyes dripping raw fear. "Where is my daughter? What happened to her?"
"I'm not really sure Sir, the doctor hasn't
come out yet but what we know is she tried
to kill herself."
I tried my best not to shock him anymore than he already was, but how can you tell someone their daughter tried to kill herself without them being shocked?
"What?!" His eyes widened as he tripped over himself. "Why would she-"
Then the door opened.
All of us looked at the doctor walking out of the room.
My heart skipped a hundred beats as he walked towards us. My breathing stiffened, my lungs refusing to accept any air into them.
A soft hand suddenly squeezed mine as we waited for what he had to us. I looked at Adobi, ready to tear up as we anticipated the answer.
Mr. Reginald looked worse than any of us in the room. I could only imagine how he felt. He had already lost a wife and I wasn't sure he was ready to loose a daughter.
