"Daddy!!" Andria cried out.
Tears welling up in her eyes, Andria scampered to her feet and ran over to her bastion, arms flailing and legs tripping in her haste. With a last leap, Andria landed in her father's comforting hands, squeezing her own wee ones around his large waist as she cried pitifully in his chest.
"Little An..." Alexander's pained voice croaked out as she patted her head, only now noticing that it was actually much shorter than it should be. With trepidation, Alexander gripped his daughter by the shoulder's and pulled her back from their hug and was distraught by the bruises now littering her body and the blood leaking from her nose and the several cuts covering her.
"Alexander!" Lexa limped over to their side as well before plopping down next to them, her body aching too much to push her on much further. Alexander gave her a tight smile before returning his attention to his daughter.
"You are safe now, all the bad things will disappear soon..." Alexander gave Andria the most comforting smile he could squeeze out at this heart wrenching moment before tapping her softly on her glabella.
Andria tried her best to return her father's smile when suddenly she felt her consciousness give way. Her ragged head lulled backwards as her eyes closed slowly into rest, her body turning limp in her father's hands.
"Whoa." Lexa muttered, rather surprised by the act.
"She does not need to see this." Alexander spoke with tight lips as he laid Andria comfortably to rest on the ground before looking at Lexa with a warm smile. "Stay next to her, it would be nice for her to see you first if she were to awaken."
"Hmm." Lexa hummed, turning her attention towards the sleeping Andria. She was sleeping so peacefully now, greatly contrasting with their last hour of tragedy. Only, Lexa knew that things won't be so peaceful when Andria woke back up. The things that happened to her will not be so easily forgotten, sadly...
Taking Alexander's words to heart, Lexa used the last of her strength and crawled onto her partner's chest and rested there, feeling the lulling effect of her rising and falling chest as she breathed in her sleep.
Alexander gave the cat one last nod before returning his attention to the large crowd several steps in front of them, who all stood still as a great pressure continuously pressed down on them. Some of the weaker one's were even having trouble standing under this great weight, their knees buckling and sweat drenching their tattered clothing.
"I-it's over..." Savre stuttered, his jaw shaking in his mad fear.
"You are lucky I am not a cruel person!!" Alexander growled.
With the flip of his right hand, a long spear suddenly formed into being in his clenching grip. This spear was incredibly long, a metallic black with intricate golden runes travelling across its polished surface. At the tip of the pole, ice blue fur flowed constantly in the wind as if under water. Its blade was incredibly sharp, extending several ft in length and glowing in a dull ice blue colour.
"I-it's 'Crying Night'!!" One of the Beast-Eyed Killer's lackeys cried out, his eyes widening at the spear's appearance.
This was the Left Hand man of Falcio Kingdom, Alexander Wilderwolf's trademark weapon, the 'Crying Night' Spear. This was a Magical Weapon that was actually of the highly sought after Pulsing Rank, a weapon every Sky Magician vied for, but only about half of them could actually acquire.
Lexa was rather enraptured by the beauty of this spear and felt a special presence from it whenever she looked at it that spoke of its sheer might. She understood the namesake for this spear when Alexander began to maneuver the spear, as a melodic cry would sound at its every moment, both scratchy, like nails cut across ice and also like a bird song, pleasant and comforting.
Lexa was only woke up from her reverie when Alexander finally made his move, his form disappearing into nothing. His speed transcended her and every else's vision in this area.
"You seem important!" Alexander's presence was only given away when his voice reverberated in their numb ears, sending a chill through all their spines. Most shaken was Savre, as the voice sounded right beside his ear.
His eyes closed in trepidation and defeat. He knew it was over.
"GYUUUAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!"
A guttural cry echoed throughout the surrounding area, one could tell the pain that was overtaking him, his cry was so visceral.
Lexa was rather shocked, as instead of using his spear, Alexander had actually only placed the palm of his free hand on the back of the man's head, rather softly at that. Yet, the man seemed to be experiencing the most visceral pain she had ever seen one go through.
A peculiarity that Lexa noticed was the man's eyes which had gone strangely cloudy and his eyelids began to twitch uncontrollably. Soon his cries came to a croaky end and the man turned limp as his body slumped to the ground, his arms struggling to hold himself up off the ground.
"So there are people behind this..." Alexander muttered, a dark gleam flashed in his cold eyes for the briefest of seconds behind his glasses before vanishing as he decisively rose his spear into the air and stabbed it down unhesitatingly.
Savre let out a mute cry as he spat out dark blood, coating his chin and the earth as he finally lost all strength. He only felt the sharp pain at the center of his body before all feeling was lost. Finally his eyes turned dull, his life turning forfeit.
"That man... Seems familiar..." Alexander muttered under his breath, his attention not even on the man he just stole of his life. Instead, images were playing inside his head of memories. Memories he had actually taken from Savre. In these images, he saw the form of the lanky man as he handed Savre a medallion that portrayed a ghoulish beast on its form which Alexander now understood as actually being a Pulsing Item! The same rank as his own spear.
'What did Alexander just do?' Lexa looked with narrowed eyes at the incredible sight before her. She didn't know what, but she felt that when Alexander had put his hand on that man's head, something bizarre occurred and Alexander seemed to learn something from the act even from his words afterwords. 'Did he... Are Sky Magician's so powerful?...'
Meanwhile, Alexander seemed to still be in a daze as he processed the image of the lanky person in his mind, struggling to put a name to the familiar countenance. But as the seconds pass as he continues to linger on this thought with no answer coming to him, Alexander soon shook himself of these wayward thoughts from his mind. Instead, his eyes narrow in concentration as his head whips around to face the shocked still group of thugs that had yet to face the blade of his spear.
"Your not needed." His simple words sent a frigid chill down each one of their spines, some even tumbling to the ground and fumbling helplessly as they try to fly up and flee. But no matter how much they fight, their weak strength would never be enough to fight back against the pressure pressing down on each and every one of them. Alexander was not giving them even the slightest of chances of retreat.
Anguish cries rang out in chorus as blood sprayed like rain, drenching the dirt below a crimson colour. The thud of several corpses collapsing resounded as several people struggled with their final breaths until eventually, no sound was whispered, painting the scene in an eerie silence.
Lexa drew in a large breath before letting out a sigh.
'Dozens killed with one casual slice...' Despite the gory sight, Lexa couldn't help but admire Alexander's strength. The power to defeat multiple opponents with a casual flick of his weapon. It was rather desirable.
Looking down, she saw the resting Andria and Lexa finally let a feeling of relief wash over her. It was over and they were safe.
However, things weren't as over as they seemed and Lexa looked on with confusion as Alexander began to walk a few steps in a certain direction, a look of anger flashing in the dark, cold eyes behind his glasses.
At the same time, Lexa began to hear the distant footsteps of several people behind her and an uneasy feeling began to take root. Only to lessen when she turned to find it was the footsteps of the Wilderwolf Soldier's. It seemed that a majority of them had arrived and she could tell a few must have stayed behind at the encampment, most likely to protect the people of Crow Academy.
When Lexa turned back to look at Alexander, she was puzzled to see the same enraged expression and couldn't but help wonder what was angering him so. Were their more of these thugs somewhere or something?...
"Men, protect my daughter with your lives!!" Alexander commanded, his words demanding attention and respect.
"YES SIR!!" Came the soldier's immediate response.
A second later, Alexander vanished with a single step, no longer in the sight of his men or of Lexa's as well. She could only wonder what was happening as the soldier's took on a protective formation around her, and more importantly around Andria. A few soldier's who was rather medically inclined also gave a quick study of Andria's wounds, making sure their was nothing serious wrong with her. Which thankfully there was not.
★★★
The lanky man and the man by his side opened their eyes wide in surprise as they saw the distant figure of Alexander suddenly take a massive leap in their direction. Soon, Alexander was enveloped by an azure glow as he flew between the Rising Earth Thistle's at a terrific speed.
"Whatever Magical Item that is allowing him to see through my rune formations is rather powerful... Perhaps a Pulsing Ranked Item even!..." The lanky man muttered. "We should go."
"Hmm. It is not time yet." The man by his side nodded his head in agreement, his weary eyes taking in the sight of Alexander's cold eyes as his form grew clearer and clearer as he threatened to reach them any second.
With a flick of his wrist, the lanky man pulled out a familiar scroll which one could recognize as having the same runes as a Void Teleportation Scroll.
"Not this time!!" Alexander booming voice shouted in a animalistic growl, reaching their ears at the same time that his body suddenly flashed out of sight.
The lanky man didn't have time to activate the magical scroll before it was savagely ripped apart, quickly followed by the sight of Alexander by side, his free hand descending on his shocked face.
While shaken, the lanky man snapped out of his daze just in time to cover his face in a thick, magical barrier. But this turned futile when Alexander's right hand burst into a blue flame that instead of releasing a wave of heat, did pretty much the opposite.
The lanky man's face caved in as the hand slammed into his face and one could see a quick growth of frost spreading from that place of contact, extending down to his lower neck before his head was struck brutally into the leaf below. The leaf didn't hold the weight of the clash for even a second before the lanky man was sent flying downwards towards the earth below like a cannon ball.
BANG!!
Alexander stood tall above on the leaf, looking coldly through the newly formed gap down into the depths of the forest below. Their, the results of his enemies clash into the ground was currently shrouded in mystery as a dust cloud hid his visage. But with a flick of his finger, that cloud of dust was vanquished away, revealing a large, several feet wide crater. At the center of that crater, Alexander saw the lanky figure stretched out on the ground, unmoving.
His whole head had been blasted into frozen pieces.
Despite his attack having been clearly successful however, Alexander's brow's furrowed at the sight at he concentrated his eyes as he studied the sight in more detail, only to notice something that shot his eyes open wide in shock.
"A clone..." Alexander spoke awkwardly, finding it rather difficult to believe.
In conjunction to this revelation, the still and decapitated body below suddenly stirred, its hands shakily pushing its upper body up before turning him around so that if he had a head, he would be looking upwards, likely at the stunned Alexander.
It was then that Alexander finally remembered where he had seen the man before him. He was a famous Sky Magician known far and wide for his skills as a Rune Master. He was especially known for his works on his innovation, the Rune Clone.
His Sky Magician moniker was the 'Hidden' Magician and his real name was Silva Mona. The reason he was called the 'Hidden' Magician, was that no one had seen his true body in decades, only his many clones that always took after his own looks. Or at least what he used to look like before he went into hiding.
