Davis looked at them and wondered if they would intentionally spread the information about him to the immortal world, which he felt was a given. But to silence them, he couldn't go asking or forcing them all to swear an oath or die as that would make him a tyrant than someone trying to protect himself.

'Heck, even some righteous path hypocrites or pure strangers would leak my ability to the immortal world. Who knows? One of them might've already ascended and started to spread information about me already...'
