Walking in the party, Mira felt that she was rather left put. Looking around her, she saw that the majority of the people at least had someone they knew to talk to. Moreover what surprised Mira was that the top 5 competitors of the competition were actually being approached by various nobles in the city.
This was certainly an opportunity that is beeing provided to the cooks in order to create some connections with the nobles. With that they would increase their worth, and if lucky even get into the service of them.
Mira was also interested in this, however she feared that her background as someone living in the slums would affect her chances. Moreover, as she had to work in a brothel for some time to create some income for her mother's illness, Mira feared that some nobles would know her. This would reduce the slim chance she had even more.
Despite that, she did not want to give up and decided to build up her strength to approach someone. Looking around, Mira saw a young lady walking in the room, accompanied by a familiar male. Mira did not remember where she saw him before, yet she decided to approach them in order to get familiar with them.

Entering the room Loraine was excited to see such a crowd. She did not expect that the event that they had formed would actually attract such a crowd. Moreover, she heard from Alice that the city might even make this an annual event, with the main sponsor being the newly formed business. This would actually help boost the popularity of the business and even help with establishing branches.
"Come on James, we still have a lot to do. We still have to make contact with the nobles here." Loraine said to James as she was pulling his sleeve to enter deeper into the room.
Feeling a bit awkward, James followed Loraine reluctantly. However, he did not resist at all. Their first destination was the advisor of the ruler of Valencia. Thanks to the help of Alice, they were able to meet him with ease. During their meeting they talked about the future of the store as well as the future of Valencia. As Valencia is a trading city, the government did like the formation of new stores. That meant that they would receive more income in form of tax. This was also the case for the contest that was held by the store. The income of the event was higher compared to the expenditure. The government also benefited from this. Because of that, the advisor said that he would like to help them for next year's event to make it bigger and known all over the land.
These were positive developments for Loraine, as her business would grow even bigger with the support of the city. Her next stop was some of the winners. In the end, her goal was to recruit some of the winners of the competition to go work for her. For this, her first targets were the ones that were in the top three.
Her first target was Aysun. Given that she was the winner of the competition, it was best to start with her. As Loraine approached Aysun, she saw that Aysun was talking with some of the nobles. "Good night. First let me congratulate you again on winning the competition." Loraine said as she walked over to the group.
"Thank you. Forgive my rudeness, but I do not know who you are." Aysun replied to Loraine.
"I am Loraine, the owner of the business that organized the competition." Loraine said a bit proud of herself. She continued, "As the organizer of the competition, I wanted to congratulate you and of course as one of the prizes, give you a job offer at the store."
Feeling a bit awkward, Aysun replied in a whispering voice, "Well about that, after winning the competition, I got some job offers from the nobles. Therefore I have to decline. But I thank you for giving me the opportunity to show my talents, it helped me a lot."
This was something that Loraine expected, but preferred to hide it. There was of course the possibility that some of the nobles would try to get the winners into their own staff. Therefore she also had to compete with them.
This problem was also the same for the second place competitors that she visited. She was also offered a job by the nobles, which would be more beneficial for her in the long run. Because of this, Loraine's only hope was the one on the third place. If she also lost her, this meant that no one in the top would have gone with her. That would be a major blow for Loraine and her business.
However this was not the case. Aiza, the one that was placed third wanted to try the job and therefore decided to accept the offer. She did not want to be hold in one place by the nobles, thus working for Loraine would give her a wider opportunity.
James in the mean time decided to split up, before Loraine was searching for the top three. The business and the store were Loraine's forte, so James decided to stay far away from it. He decided to spend some time with at the bar. That was at least something he could do without any problems.

Sorry for the long period silence. I was ill for over a week and therefore could barely do anything. I tried to make new chapters, but it was a bit more difficult.
However, as I am a bit better now, I will be posting chapters. Moreover, I will try to catch up the chapters that were not posted. (That means that 10 extra chapters will be posted during the coming few weeks.)
