Bab 97: Finishing the Contest
The second round started almost as soon as the leader board was created. With that, the competitors' ones more took their positions in order to make the pastries required for the competition.
The idea of the second round was that everyone made the same dish. The dish was a strawberry cake. This was more of a luxury as only nobles would be able to taste something like this. Therefore a lot of the competitors did not know how they would make this dish.
As the round went on, many competitors tried their best in order to make a passable dish. However these attempts were rather empty as nothing looked promising.
There were a few who managed to pull off the dish. This was mainly because they used to be chefs or apprentices of in noble's houses. Therefore they had some more experience in his field compared to the others.
Mira was at an average level compared to most. As Mira learned most of the dishes from her mother, she was a bit more in the luck. As her mother was a known chef, she had the chances to cook some dishes for noble's parties and therefore had the opportunity to experiment with these dishes. Because of this, Mira did get some understanding about higher end dishes.
The round roughly finished also after two hours from starting. This time around however, there were only 17 dishes presented. 8 competitors were not able to provide any dish at all, as they got stuck at certain points of the process and had to start from the beginning several times.
The process of judges coming and judging the dishes repeated. With that the leader board also changed. The top 5 was also different. Only 3 of the previous top 5 stayed remained in here. These were Aysun, who remained at first position, Daisy directly followed her and Maya, who entered the top 3. Bob dropped down to the 5th position.
As for Mira, she increased her position and made it to the 15th position all the way from 23 this was a good increase as she lost a lot of points in the first round.

Right after the rankings got announced and the changed in it, the competitors again stood ready to get into the final round. In this round, the competition could make their own special dish in order to impress the judges.
For Mira this was an easy choice. She wanted to make her mother proud and therefore choose one of her famous dishes. It was a rather simple to make dish, however rather tasty. This was also a dish that she loved when she was still a little girl.
It was layered pancakes with various tasty layers. The one she decided to make was with 3 different toppings. Strawberries, raspberry and blackberry. These were usually easy to get ingredients as they were plentiful in the forests and easy to pick up. These layers were filled with delicious honey.
Making the pancake did not take Mira too long. However as she decided to improve its presentation, it took a bit longer.

As every competitor finally finished their dishes, there was even time left. Most of the competition decided to make their trump card and therefore were more familiar with the process. Because of this, the third round ended earlier than expected.
Looking at the scoreboard Mira had a vague idea about the position she was in. however as she could not read, she did not understand what position she was in and therefore she could not expect what would happen. The only thing she could do at this point was hope that the judges would like her dish and that her position at least would become reasonable to get a certain prize.
The judges again came forward and looked at the presentation of the dishes before they tasted it. They took certain notes and went back to the competition staff, to present their final scores. With that, the third round was finally finished, marking an end to the competition.

Receiving the final scores, Margret walked onto the podium, in her fancy red dress. She felt happy standing in front of so many people and presenting to them. She felt that she had a certain power when she stood in front of the crowd.
As she started to read the note she received from the staff, she was surprised about the pointing order. Especially when she saw the name of Mira close to the top. She remembered her as the girl of the first round who screwed up her dish and almost got arrested.
Internally laughing about that, she spoke up, "The proud people of Valencia. I am proud to announce the end of the last round and thereby the end of the competition. Would you all give a grand applause to our fine competitors?" As Margret finished her sentence, load applause could be heard from the public. It was clear that indeed everyone liked the competition.
Margret continued when the applause started to fade off, "Now let us move on to the winners of today's competition. Starting from the top 10." With that Margret named the top 10 positions of the competition.
Mira was surprised as she heard her name at the 8th position. She did not expect that she would make it that high in this competition. However, she was overjoyed as she heard that she ended up in the top 10.
The top 3 changed slightly. Aysun and Daisy were still at the top 2, directly followed by Aiza. With that, it marked the end of the competition, leading to the prizes and later on the after party.
