Bab 95: The Opening Round
The moment that the starting sign was given, all the participants started looking over the list of possible desert that they could make. When the competitors heard the overview of the competition they found out that it was actually smart. Even after seeing the list in front of them it made sense for them. Most of the delicacies on there were generally liked. These included various apple pastries as well as cinnamon as one of their main ingredient.
Looking at the faces of the participants, Loraine was scared that they would not understand the system. However to her surprise, that was not the case. Most of the participants looked with an understanding on their face to the list. Feeling relieved about this, she started to examine the process that they had.

"Apple pie, I know that one, we have done that a few times." Mira thought to herself as she was examine the list. There were some products that she had never heard of, and some that her mother briefly mentioned. However due to the limited time they had, they did not focus on it too much.
"Think, what do I need? Apples of course… what else? Mom said that there was also some pear in it for the taste. And uhm…" Mira started to talk to herself as she started to remember the ingredients that she needed.
After having remembered the ingredients, she started slowly pick them up and order them in front of her. Having done this, she instinctually looked a bit around to the other competitors. Howe ever it was a bit difficult to see it, as the stages where made in such a state that it was difficult to pry on the competitor.
Having all the ingredients in front of her, she started to work on preparing them for the pie. First she started to peel off the apples and the pears. Afterwards she started to follow the other steps that she had learned from her mother.
It took Mira close to an hour before she was finished with everything and she was able to start the cooking process. There were a few hour glasses with various sized and times. Not knowing exactly which one to use, Mira had to guess which one to use.
She guessed that the middle one looked promising and turned around that one. Hoping that the time should be enough. However as she did not directly trust those times, she preferred to follow her intuition and her practice.
Close to an hour passed and Mira started to see the gold-brown crust forming up at the top of the pie. This was a sign that the pie was getting ready. Curiously she also looked over at the hourglass. To her surprise, it was actually the correct one to use. This would be beneficial for the upcoming rounds as she now knew which one to use.
During the process that the pie was getting ready, Mira remembered the importance that presentation had for the finished product. Because of this, she started to make some preparations for the presentation part the moment that the pie was done. Normally an apple pie should need time to cool off, however as it was a competition this was not necessarily needed anymore.
For the presentation, Mira decided to whip up some whip cream from the milk fats. This would give a nice look to the overall presentation of the pie.
As the pie was ready, Mira put on the cream on top of it to give it a better look. With that, she was ready for the presentation of the finished product to the jury. As she started to walk forward with her plate, she noticed that there were already a few competitors done with their work and were waiting for the rest to also finish. As she looked back, she saw that there were still a few in the process of finishing up their products as well.

After a moment of time passed by, the presenter walked forward. This was the same woman that Mira saw during the preliminary round of the competition. Not everyone was finished, however the presenter announced that it was time.
"Competitors, it is time. I see that most of the competitors are finished and have brought forth delicious looking products. However, there are some which are not yet finished. This is unfortunate fir them as this will result in reduced points." The woman said as she was standing on the stage. She looked rather lively on the stage as she jolted from one part of the stage to the other, involving everyone around and peek their interest.
"Without further ado, let's start with judging the product." The woman said as she looked over to the location where the judges were seated. There were a total of 100 judges. As there were a total of 25 participants, every product would be tasted by 4 judges. They would then decide on various factors and give it a point.
As the organization had some expenses and still was a business, they decided to sell off the rest of the products to the attendants for a special price of 1 copper per slice. This was the lowest currency there is and therefore affordable by everyone.
As the judges made their way to the stage, they each divided accordingly. There were some judges that were left with empty plates as there were a total of 3 participants who were not able to provide with any products in the time limit.
With that the judges started to take notes and judge the products that were presented.

For this I was thinking of making an "interactive" chapter
